What Music Are You Listening To Right Now?

Play On - Carrie Underwood

If you like Carrie, you would probably enjoy her new album. She has a wide gamut of sounds--from sassy to country to pop. On one song, Vince Gill does backup vocals and their voices blend so well. On another song, she does a duet with the Sons of Sylvia who were originally called The Clark Brothers when they won The Next Great American Band. Some of these brothers--not sure which ones--were in her tour band before they won the TNGAM Contest. These guys are originally from the county north of me (Rocky Mount, VA) so I would love to see them make it big. They are suppose to be releasing their new album in 2010 under their new name of the Sons of Sylvia. The song that they play on and one of them does vocals with Carrie, "What Can I Say," is very pretty and reminds me of a boy band tune for some reason. Sorry I went on so, but lately it is so rare that I purchase an album and actually like more than one or two songs.

The Avett Brothers - I and Love and You

We fell in love with this band's music at ACL this year -

Athena popped the CD into the player this morning and started straining to read the tiny print on the CD case.... Wouldn't you know it? Benmont Tench contributed on Harmonium and Hammond B3, and produced by Rick Rubin.

Fresh and Vital - full of energy with an intimate delivery. Great stuff.
