Question of the day 3/7/12

Recommended Posts

I don't think "bailing out" is the right term. The Postal Service as it exists now, is not solvent, and it is predicted that they will continue to lose money at an ever increasing rate. They need substantial change. Elimination of Saturday delivery is something they've said they want to do, and it requires congressional approval. I wouldn't call that a bail-out, and I don't think throwing money at the USPS will solve anything. Too much competition from Fedex, UPS, and eCommerce in general has cut revenues way down. Expenses need to follow.

They are also being required by congress to pre-fund their employee pension programs something like 75 years into the future? And this is from the same congress that takes our Social Security money and spends it any way they feel like. What is the saying about people living in glass houses not throwing stones?
