SingsInFrench 262 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 Yes, I enjoy music from the 50s. I especially love early Elvis music. My parents saw Elvis in concert, though they couldn't hear much with all the screaming. lol
somewheredowntheroad 20 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 Yes, I love Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como and especially Peggy Lee. Back then they were experts at phrasing. My mom also loved Broadway tunes - and she adored Bonnie Raitt's Dad, John Raitt.

TomFest 576 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 Absolutely. Classic country from Hank Williams to Buck Owens and most country and bluegrass artists from the 50's and 60's. You hear that stuff since you're a baby and it makes it's way into your DNA.

Rick 156 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 I'd have to say that I enjoy listening to music from their era, but I'll bet they never listened to what I like from that era themselves!!! (Perry Como & Mario Lanza vs. Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters).
Liberty 191 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 (edited) Well, my dad was born in '55 and my mom in '62. My dad enjoys Bluegrass/Old Country and Classic Rock, and my mom listens to Classic Rock and Hair Bands from the '80s. I like Classic Rock, but I really love 50s Rock and Roll and 60's British Invasion, and the 70s Tom Petty and Punk stuff, and then there's the 80's, which I don't really like. However, I do like newer stuff as well like Panic! at the Disco, Foo Fighters, etc. I enjoy 20s/30s Jazz/Ragtime and blues as well. Neither of my parents were fans of Tom Petty. Like my dad says, "If he came on the radio I wouldn't change the station, but I wouldn't go out and buy his album, or anything." My mom likes TP less than my dad. So, I wasn't exactly bread into a TP family like a lot of younger TP fans. Edited January 12, 2012 by tompetty1976
