SingsInFrench 262 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Yes, I have two dogs, Gizmo, a Shih Tzu, and Bailey, a Shih Tzu - Bichon Frise mix. They are the first dogs I have had as an adult. When I was married I wasn't "allowed" to have pets. Once I was on my own and found a place to rent that allowed pets, I got my dogs. They are my little sweethearts and they give so much love! I can't imagine life without pets!
agirl 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 I have had so many dogs. We've had a chihuahua, dachshunds, a poodle, a cockapoo and numerous mutts. Loved them all and they were always part of the family.
somewheredowntheroad 20 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 ^They sound great SingsinFrench My 17 year old nephew, who lives with me, wanted a puppy about six months ago. I wasn't on board at first, since I work lots of hours and travel on business. But, I am so glad we picked up Eli from the pound - he was the runt of his litter and no one wanted him. He is mix of black lab and hound. He's gained 30 lbs. in the past six months and is super healthy. He makes me take him for a walk at least twice a day, so he has been the best thing for me. Plus I love knowing he is curled up at the bottom of my bed each night. He is my dog now and I love being greeted by him each evening when I walk through the door. He is always excited to see me, which is more than I can say for the 17 year old.

LizzieB 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 (edited) Most recently we had Lillie and Romeo. We lost Lillie in October and Romeo one month to the day in November. I was so heartbroken after Romeo passed I could hardly bring myself to tell anyone unless they asked about him. They were the best dogs and a part of our lives for 15 years. I miss them. TomFest 576 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 I've never had a dog at any time in my life. I would, it's just never happened. We've had cats a lot though. Right now, no pets.

The Wild One, Forever 2 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Growing up we had a schnauzer and a german shepherd. After them we got a dachshund and another german shepherd that we still have. Also we have my chihuahua/dachshund mix. I just wish she could live at my apartment with me.
SingsInFrench 262 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Oh, Lizzie! I didn't know you lost your second dog. I'm so, so sorry. To lose two dogs in one month. My heart aches for you.
Amber 70 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 I had a German Shephard named Bozo when I was very little, a mixed breed (looked like it had some small collie in her) named Chico that I loved dearly when I was 11. She ran out to tell me goodbye while I was waiting for the school bus and got hit by a car right in front of me. I didn't have any pets for a long time after that. Then my husband had an Australian Shepard when we got married that was a great dog. She was getting old and developed cancer and I had to take her to be put to sleep...he couldn't handle it. Broke my heart. Then, my son had a chocolate lab named Macie who thought she belonged to me. Then one day I was cleaning out her dog house etc and left the gate unlatched and she escaped. Her nose was her downfall since she must have sniffed an animal and chased it to a major highway and (of course) was hit by a truck. So my history with pets has not been good. I do not have one and probably won't anytime soon. I can't take the heartache and guilt anymore. Besides, who would want to be my pet...they do not seem to fare well. Liberty 191 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 When I was aged 0 to 15 we had two Jack Russell Terriers. Beaver and Sissy. They were like my brother and sister. Miss them a lot. And now, we have Jackson Mississippi. We call him Jack or Jackson Louise. He's my baby!!! TODAY is his birthday and he is TWO!!! I love him to pieces. He is half Australian Shepard and half Blue Heeler.

Magnolia 171 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 ^ Aww, I love hearing about everyone's doggies. I'm so sorry to hear about those that have passed. It's so hard when we lose our pets. They are members of our famiily. I've had 3 dogs as an adult. All three were rescues (and mutts) and were the best dogs any family could ever have.
