Question of the Day - 01/03/11

Recommended Posts

They came down on the 31st. I had a non-holiday party yesterday and I wanted them down before that. I have to say, I was ready for them to go this year. Weird, because I usually hate to see them go. I think I'm just ready to leave 2010 behind....

No, the few I have up will stay til Jan 13 at least. We have a different way "over there" and use advent as the foregoer to Christmas. Our tree does up the days right before Dec 24 and we celebrate until "20 Day Knut" - 20 days after. The we have a childrens party when the kids :undress" the tree and eat the candy (if any) in it.

IT's an old custom and growing up the kids looked forward to it as this was one rare occation when we could get any sweets.

So no. They are still up :)

The only decorating we did was the green bulbs outside on the porch and walkway lights. My family is part Russian, and Russian Christmas is the 7th (so I've been told for years), so they'll be up until then, or until they burn out. We did get Christmas cards, and I usually display them up until then, as well, but I got rid of them almost immediately, save for an unexpected card from Hubby's mom. We've been together eight years, and this is the first time she's sent us a card. She's not bitter, just absent-minded, so it's very special to us.

Yes! I am one of those that once it's over I want it put away. My youngest thinks Santa will come again, so it helps her have closure that it's done. When she sees my neighbor's decorations still up she gets confused if Christmas is coming again. I like to get back to normal, it's just me.
