SingsInFrench 262 Report post Posted December 17, 2010 I don't participate in organized religion. I don't believe in most of what is taught, and the values often don't match mine. I consider myself spiritual.

Juliads 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2010 I'm Agnostic/secular Humanist. I enjoy learning about all religions, i just feel more content not claiming allegiance to any one in particular.
wild1forever 152 Report post Posted December 17, 2010 Important. I've gone to Mass every Sunday nearly my entire life, but I wouldn't necessarily consider myself devout. I do love all the rituals of the church, and I'm reasonably observant of the liturgical seasons such as Lent, Advent, etc.

Refugee 7 Report post Posted December 17, 2010 Not important at all I think organized religion should come with a warning label. I'm spiritual in my own way.

WildflowerNJ 136 Report post Posted December 17, 2010 I voted Other....and although I no longer go to any church...the upbringing I had as a child stays with me. I was baptised and raised in the Lutheran faith. I have not been in so many years now. But I would say I am surely very spiritual....very sensitive and concerned about the world and the animals we share it with...
weird monkey 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2010 My feeling is that religion is a man made construct, and you can be spiritual without having religion, and ironically, even have religion without spirituality. I am spiritual, and even base it on the Christian beliefs I was raised with, because it is how I identify. But religion, as in going to a building to worship or dogma? Nah. But if organized religion defines some others' spirituality, I am fine with that too.
Yer so bad 4 Report post Posted December 17, 2010 (edited) Vital, I have to recognise I don´t go to the church very often, but I´m catholic and I believe in the doctrine of my religion and I try to follow its precepts Edited December 17, 2010 by Yer so bad
AngelDream 16 Report post Posted December 17, 2010 (edited) I voted "Other". I do believe but I don't attend church, haven't been to church in years. I think my brother said it best when he was a chaplin in the Air Force - "doesn't matter where you're at, in your house or in a house of worship, as long as you believe, that's all that matters, you don't need organized religion, just a belief" - he would say this to the service men and women Dessert Storm. nurktwin 2,143 Report post Posted December 17, 2010 the real point is that ppl believe in what they want to themselves. what other ppl think doesn't matter. stand up and be yourselves. i know a lot of ppl that are not catholic like me, but that never stopped us from getting together and being great friends. get over the BS and live like human beings. surfnburn 5 Report post Posted December 18, 2010 Religion isn't in me, but it's around me. So it has an indirect importance in my life. I love art, and religion has had profound influence in the artistic expession of many cultures. I think there's a universal feeling of spirituality that is expressed through all the religions; it's an interesting aspect of human nature. I see it in some way everyday. It doesn't play a big part in my life. But it's there.
Tom Petty's ChickenNugget 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2010 Naw, Rock 'N' Roll is my religion. :045: :b55: I'm not into that organized stuff AT ALL. Never was. "If you wanna to get into Heaven, you gotta raise a little hell."
Tom Petty's ChickenNugget 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) Basically, I pulled my spiritual views of life from "Have Love Will Travel." When Tom says"Lets have a cheer for all those bad girls, and those boys who play that Rock & Roll; they love it like you love Jesus. It does the same thing to their soul..." I think that it doesn't matter what you believe in, as long as it makes you feel safe, secure, confident, and most importantly HAPPY AND WANTED! ______________________________________________ I have a very religious cousin, and in every way we are different and have never gotten along. (She is six weeks older than me.) Anyway, I asked her why she kept wanting me to go to church with her and "flip over my leaf" and she simply replied, "Because God and Christians love you." My simple, truthful, reply? "Well, if they loved me they would accept me for who I am and not try to change me. Love is about caring for someone no matter who they are." ~ :045: ~ Edited December 18, 2010 by Tom Petty's ChickenNugget
