Question of the Day - 12/09/10

Recommended Posts

i guess you could say today, my 2 cousins from Conn & Mass flew in yesterday with my aunt's body for burial with my uncle. we had a ceremony at the chapel and then went with the casket around the corner to the burial site that was opened and for the 1st time since 1974, we saw my uncles casket. we said our goodbyes and when they went to put her casket in, the girls didn't want to see that part, so they went around the front and waited in their cars. my cousin Fred and myself stayed to watch til the end. once the casket was in, we watched them put a plate on and seal it, then the granite stone over it. well the stone wouldn't fit right and it did before, the top wouldn't fit!!! turns out they put bb's on the slab so the the casket can roll into place and some of those bb's were in the sealing track. so they removed the stone and cleaned out the track. my cousin Fred couldn't help but laugh and tell me, see she has to bitch 1 more time....lol. my aunt was a real pistol, she had already made all her final plans and had everything set, including her date of birth and death on the gravestone. my aunt never wanted anyone to know her age and sometimes even told my mom that she was younger than my mom...lol!!!!!! mom is about 10 years younger! the topper was that when the stone was put up and secured in place, Fred said look, she did it again, and i said what? he pointed to the granite stone and said she put the wrong date of when she was born to be younger......lol. we hugged and laughed and i said "that's your mom". when we left, we went to this classy restaurant for lunch and my cousins Fred & Viv insisted that even though it was only noon, that everyone eat and have champagne in honor of my aunt, and we did. they will be flying back to boston tonight and i don't know when i'll see them again, but we talked about me going there soon and maybe even to see tpath on the next tour. i'm sorry this post went too long and maybe tmi. but i think if everyone opens up a bit more, it can only help in the long run. thanks for listening, luv you all.

Sorry you had to see your family at a funeral, Nurk! Your Aunt sounds like she may have been related to a couple of mine, lol! I come from a long line of eccentric females. Maybe you can go visit your uncles and cousins next tour.

Hey Nurk....I'm totally with you on that dude! Life is short and it is what you make of it. I have greatly exceeded what was expected of me.....overcome a lot of statistics to have a relatively successful life. It's all about taking risks and never giving up!

The last time I met with friends was last month. I meet once a month with a couple of lab managers (one is retired). We used to work together as lab scientists many years ago and have met monthly for several years now to stay in touch. We went down different paths in the last few years..one is still a lab manager, I am a professor (teaching lab) and one is retired. We have always enjoyed each others company.
