Refugee 7 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 Do you send out Christmas cards? And since we are discussing Christmas, are you offended when people use the term ‘Christmas’ rather than something like ‘Holiday’?
WildflowerNJ 136 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I do, alot, lol! I am not offended....it is and always will be Christmas for me...
Softanimal 7 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I don't send out Christmas cards. I just wish them a merry Christmas when I met them, LOL. It doesn't matter to me what people call this time of year.
AngelDream 16 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 Sometimes, if the person I'm sending the card to doesn't have a computer, otherwise it's usually e-cards nowadays. I'm not offended, but I'm like Beth, it is and always will be Christmas to me.
Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I probably won't send out cards this year. I try to do it every other year. And no, I'm not offended. It's "Christmas" people, get over it!
DCAHNM 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 Once I get the kids cleaned and fixed up for a picture, I will send out Christmas cards.. I actually get more offended with the use of "holiday" as a substitute for "Christmas".
Magnolia 171 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 ^ Me too, Emily. At work we're not supposed to call the break we have coming up "Chirstmas Vacation" but "Winter Break" instead. What bullshit. I will never say Winter Break. We don't have a vacation because it's winter, we have a vacation because it's Christmas. Whether you celebrate it or not, it still exists. I think I will send out Christmas cards this year. I usually do that every few years or so.
Mudcrutch 285 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 We usually do but we won't be this year.
Pawie 6 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I really want to but don't know if I will get them out in time.. It IS and will always be Christmas to me. I will not be offended if anyone wants to call it any different. They have probably another religion than I and I don't have a problem with that. Just don't try to change anything in the Calendar... kelly 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 No and No. I'm not really a Christmas person - its kind of too much and overwhelming. I like to keep things simple, but I never can around Christmas. As far as calling it "Christmas" or "holiday" - I don't really give a care. I think in America Christmas has become its own thing, it really doesn't have much to do with religion. Its kind of impossible not to get caught up in it, no matter what your religious beliefs are.
wild1forever 152 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 Yes, I send out Christmas cards. No, I'm not offended when the term "holiday" is used instead. Geez, don't we have more important things to be concerned about?
KansasPettyFan 1 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 Yes, I send them out and NO I am not offended. GET OVER IT!
weird monkey 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I haven't sent out cards the last couple of years. Maybe next year... I used to do a Holiday painting and print cards. I have no problem with Christmas. In fact the phrase, "Merry Christmas" to me, is as secular as Santa Claus and Christmas trees. To me, "Happy Holidays" encompasses all the celebrations this time of year. I wish we'd all just chill out and let each other celebrate how ever we want. Patty Petty 9 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I go in spurts with sending them out. Some years I do and some years I don't. I'm not offended at whatever you call it, but to me, it's Christmas and that should be ok too. I'm sick and tired of always having to be politically correct. agirl 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I'm terrible about sending cards out. I'm not offended and I'm sick of all this PC crap. I love all the mangers and decorations that go up.
SingsInFrench 262 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I don't send out cards, and I'm not offended by Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or Happy Hanukkah. If someone wished me something else I don't celebrate, I wouldn't be offended. I always appreciate kind wishes.
The Wild One, Forever 2 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 Well, my mom does every year and I help her out with them, but since I'm not home, I guess I won't be helping. I don't get offended and don't think anyone should, they're sending you a good thought, people should appreciate that no matter what holiday they are celebrating. Amber 70 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I will send out some cards. I usually do. I do not get "offended", (as stated before, we have more serious matters to deal with daily), but I do think it is sad that a religious celebration has been turned into a "holiday season". We have totally lost the meaning of Christmas, which was once a celebration of Christ's birth observed by Christians, which happened to involve the majority of the people in America when I was a child. With the influx of immigrants and duty to policitcal correctness in the last 30 years (where you cannot "offend" anyone for any reason), this sacred day has been pushed into oblivion and replaced with greedy folks trampling each other to get doorbuster electronics deals. No wonder the Arabs think we are infidels...all they see of America is what they see on TV......that we celebrate our traditional Christian faith with how many possessions we can grab. AndreaM 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 We usually send out a picture card with Hubby, Dad and I, sort of to prove to everyone that Dad's still alive and kicking. I don't know what's happening with that this year, since my brother usually takes the pic, and I don't know when he's gonna be dropping by. He usually takes the pic when we get together for Thanksgiving, but Dad was in the hospital then, so it didn't happen. If I get ambitious enough, I'll call him about it. And no, I don't get offended. Refugee 7 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I won't be sending out any cards this year. I stopped doing that a few years ago. I'm not offended at all at Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas or whatever. To each their own. Just not into the organized religions who make such a big deal.
jawallac 48 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 Nope, I don't send out Christmas cards anymore. I am not offended by someone using the word holiday instead of Christmas, but I AM offended if it's mandated by a corporation. Then it just makes me want to say Happy Christmakwanzakah and Solistice and Bodhi Day and....
emmie 2 Report post Posted December 3, 2010 I used to send out tons of Christmas cards but the past 2 years we, ourselves received very few, in fact last year I think we got about 3 and I'd sent my usual load out. Frankly, it pissed me off. I was like, well shit, if you can't even bloody remember us ONCE a year even on Christmas it's a poor show. So this year, to hell with everyone, no Christmas card sending from us this year. And I'm with Patty, we've all become way to careful what we say with all this politically correctness - Patty, it's WAY worse here then it is in the US. We can barely make any jokes now without fear of offending anyone, it's brutal. It's CHRISTMAS people. Get over it!
Trishia4 28 Report post Posted December 4, 2010 Yes, I send out Christmas cards and am not offended on using the word Christmas in this season.
Sugar 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2010 We take a family Christmas photo and email it out, or FB it out now I guess! I stopped sending out cards about 5 years ago, it just got to be we did more emailing and sending cards got to be a hassle. Christmas, holiday...it's all ok with me. Everyone is different and however they wish to celebrate is how it goes. I work in a school, and they are over cautious about the wording of those things. I just try to keep it real and spread some love.
surfnburn 5 Report post Posted December 4, 2010 I'd love to send out cards, but I don't have the time. No I'm not bothered by "happy holidays". It's nice when people acknowledge the season...
