Question of the Day - 11/29/10

Recommended Posts

My favorite spot to read is on my couch with my feet up. Believe it or not, I'm reading "Decision Points" by George W. Bush. It's actually turning out to be quite the interesting read.

By the way one of the last books I read was Whoopi Goldberg's "Is it Just Me ? Or is it Nuts Out There? Very funny book!

I like to read in bed.

Right now I'm reading a book called "Nickel and Dimed" by Barbara Ehrenreich. Super interesting. She did an experiment about 10 years ago and lived in 3 places around the country working only minimum wage jobs, to see if it's possible to survive on a job like that without any welfare benefits. She found it to be very difficult, not surprisingly. QUITE an eye opener into the lives of the "working poor" as she calls people toiling away in minimum wage jobs.

"Running with Scissors" by Augusten Burroughs.

"Nickel and Dimed" sounds interesting, Barb. It's tough enough to try and subsist on minimum wage, but I would imagine some places are harder than others.

I like to read stretched out on the couch.

I just finished Margaret Maron's new book. Tonight I'll start Robert Parker's last book. I've been saving it, because he passed not too long ago and it will be the last of Spenser and Hawk. :(

I like to read in bed.

"Nickel and Dimed" is a great book. Barb, you should also read Ehrenreich's "Bait and Switch: The Futile Pursuit of the American Dream".

One of the nice things about unemployment is that I have been reading like crazy. I am just finishing up "The Blind Side" by Michael Lewis and absolutely loved it.

^^ Sounds good, Toni! I definitely want to read more books by her.

^ Carol, which Spenser is it? I think I've read them all but I wonder if I missed one. Spenser and Hawk were the BEST!!! Oh, I miss Robert B. Parker!!!

I have a wonderful stuffed green chair by a sunny window that the dogs and I love to chill and read in. Right now it's usually the paper, I am between books right now. The Keith Richards one sounds interesting.

I read in bed. The last book I read was a Swedish funny one. "The 100 year old that went out the window and disappeared". I hope it will be translated. I laughed til I cried.

My next one will be Keith Richards autobiography and the US version of Don Felder's. The UK version was great but there is a difference and I am curious.
