Pawie 6 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 I disgree. Even if mine didn't work out I still believe in it.
Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 I disagree. There's certainly seems to be enough of those lame bride and wedding shows on TV to prove otherwise.

agirl 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 I somewhat agree. Unless you want kids, what's the point?
Refugee 7 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 ^ I had kids, didn't need to be married for that. And I don't believe you need to be married in order to have children. I agree with the research.
Beamish 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 I've always thought it was obsolete, although there are financial benefits. ^ Agree with you on not needing to be married to have kids. My parents weren't married and I still managed to turn into law-abiding citizen, and some married people are lousy parents.
nurktwin 2,143 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 the only financial benefits to marriage are 90% in favor of women who have kids and no job and a divorce solves that in most courts today. lets not go here!
SingsInFrench 262 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 I agree. I think more couples are opting to live together without marriage. I think marriage won't become obsolete, though. Still plenty of people who tie the knot.
Magnolia 171 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 No, there is something to be said for saying vows in front of family and friends, those people are more likely to support and encourage you and your relationship. I know that marriage is no guarantee of happiness, of course, but I do think the parties (most of the time) try a little harder when they have made a commitment like marriage. surfnburn 5 Report post Posted November 22, 2010 Somewhat agree. I think a lot of the reasons for getting married have become obsolete. There's no social stigma if you're not married, etc. The idea of getting married as union between two people isn't obsolete, but without the pressures that used to exist, people don't need to be marriage. I think a wedding in theory is wonderful, but marriage in practice really hard. The statistic might reflect this.
LizzieB 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 Marriage might be on the decline, but is far from becoming obsolete.
weird monkey 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 Marriage is becoming obsolete. The delusional reasons people get married for, are not.
kelly 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 I agree with research. If I ever get married, it would only be in front of friends and family, not actually legal. I'm not paying anyone alimony!!!
nurktwin 2,143 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 oh my kelly, write down what you just said and hold on to it for a few years. i don't think you'll say the same thing 10-20 years from now. time does a lot of things, like heal a broken heart, make you love more than you do today, and a lot more. research will never give you what you want, that's science, not love. just ask everyone you know. you'll get the same answer. i may be 110 years old, but i know, i've been there. i won't give out info that i don't use myself.
