Just had a late lunch/early dinner of...wait for it...bacon fat popcorn, blackened pork belly and watermelon appetizer, pork chops, corn cakes, grilled peaches, collard greens, and pork jowl bacon. Guess you could say I made a pig of myself. Did I mention I was drinking??

I drive about 100 miles each day, and I cannot stand when I'm on the highway and someone pulls in front of me for no good reason and goes slower than I was going. Drives me mad.

I finally broke down and bought a cell phone when Linda got ill and we needed to have a phone in case the hospital called and said they had a heart for her. Well, we never needed it for that purpose, and I prefer not to use it except on those rare occasions when I'm not with her. Like Wildflower, I love being out of step.

I root for Walter White on "Breaking Bad," although his character becomes less and less likeable with every episode.

Went to my favorite restaurant, where I had ribs, chicken wings, hush puppies and a beer. Or two.

I usually don't turn the heat on until October. I seem to always be too warm. I sleep with the windows open most of the year, on top of the blankets. It got down to 64 degrees in the house last night, which was fine with me. To me, there's nothing like waking up on a cool late summer/early fall morning, sitting outside with a sweatshirt on, drinking a hot cup of coffee, or a cool evening with logs in the portable fireplace and a couple of fingers of whisky.

My mom's father told me about how he met his wife...my mom's mother. He came to America from Russia where he worked for another Russian immigrant. That man worked very hard to make in in the US and had little time for his family. He asked my grandfather to take his wife places from time to time. You can see it coming....love blossomed, the man's wife divorced him and married my grandfather. And they eventually had my mom. Pretty racy when you consider that this was in the early 1900s.
