Pilot Holds Plane for Grandfather Of Murdered Toddler
weird monkey replied to Refugee's topic in Depot Street
Heart rending story. I would imagine a good samaritan who heard his story got through security ahead of him and managed to inform the pilot somehow. On the other hand, this made me pause and wonder: Yeah, right. -
Me Too! I think because mainly I sleep on my right side and like to face outwards. If I have to choose, I sleep closest to the alarm clock, which is probably a control issue, come to think of it.

1. How did you feel yesterday? I had to get a filling yesterday, and it took a while for the numbing to wear off, but I felt good about getting it done. Then a neighbor stopped by looking for scrap metal, and it turns out he is a music and guitar lover too, so we had fun talk about that - an unexpected day brightener for us both! Bonus: He is looking for a luthier to restore a guitar, so I gave him Brad's number. 2. What kind of obstacles do you face this upcoming week? Fighting my own resistance - trying to remain convinced that I am not wasting my time with painting, as I watch my savings dwindle - so, the usual. 3. In your opinion, what is a good friend? Someone who knows about you, and loves you anyway. 4. What is your fondest memory of a childhood friendship? Having a friend who was a s crazy about anything to do with horses as I was. 5. Does time always kill pain? It all depends on your outlook, for instance; whether you use the painful memory for personal growth, or simply dine on the misery it can provide.

Now that the numbing has finally worn off from my dentist's visit this morning, I need to reconcile some bank statements for clients, and then get some canvases ready for painting.

I am thankful that the slow leak in my tire was just a nail ($25 fix), and not a result of the big rock I ran over a month ago; I wasn't going fast, but hit it hard enough to knock some air out of the tire - it could have broken the belt in the tire, or cracked the rim, both of which would have been prohibitively expensive. Thankful I got another dental procedure out of the way.

Hugh Hefner And Playmate Crystal Harris Get Engaged
weird monkey replied to Refugee's topic in Depot Street
And I am sure the idea that they could make money or earn ratings with this little made-up drama never entered their heads. I am assuming Hef is complicit in this. People like this always seem happy to turn a buck over anything. -
^ Oh Andrea, I sympathize - mine started early, I hope it isn't the start of something.... TIL - the exhibitionist? Do tell!

It shows he's not a slave to fashion!

I took mine down on the 31st too, I'm ready to leave 2010 behind too.

Very nice LIzzie, a new artist for me. I'm listening to his songs on his website right now. -

Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year, Everyone!

Yes, best New Year's party ever! A small group, intelligent conversation, 2 great guitarists, booze in moderation.

1) Going to a big party or stay at home? Going to a party, but I don't know how big it will be. 2) Will you be staying up late to watch the ball drop in Times Square? I'll be up late, but it's unlikely anyone there will be interested in Times Square. 3) Will you make any New Year's resolutions? Nope. Never do. 4) Who do you think would make a good host for a Rockin' Out New Year's Eve? 5) Do you know the words to Auld Lang Syne?
-
Beautiful and sunny today - the wind finally stopped blowing! I'll be painting today, and then ringing in the New Year with old friends and new. A few will be bringing their instruments too.

I'm thankful for a new year ahead of me. There's something good comin', I know it will!

The Dirty Knobs Live!! - February 4, 2011
weird monkey replied to Refugee's topic in The Dirty Knobs
How did I miss this one?!!? -
No.

My money would be on a lawsuit. I often wonder what would happen if Warhol were to do his soup cans these days. Wouldn't fly, I think.
-
^ Wow! That's great! Did you open it all the way? :108: (I haven't opened mine yet) I didn't get anything strange or unexpected.

1. Did you put up a Christmas tree this year? Yes 2. Which do you prefer? Real or artificial tree? I love the smell of a real tree in the house, but disposal is difficult where I live, so I settle on a fake tree. 3. When you drove around this year, what did you like or dislike about other people’s Christmas decorations? Mostly I noticed there are far far fewer people putting up lights than ever before. 4. How much did you pay attention to the messages on Christmas decorations in the stores this year? Didn't pay them much attention 5. Your favorite store put up Christmas decorations, but the message only says, “Happy Holidays.” Are you offended or disappointed? I wouldn't care, people make too much fuss about that. 6. When you need a gift for someone, but can't think of what to get them, what gift card would you buy them? I'd get a card for a store I know they would shop at, even if it's WalMart. [shudder]

I didn't get many gifts, mostly candy in my 'stocking' from Mom and Dad. I'll probably give most of it away to the people who kept an eye on things while I was gone. I am so sick of eating right now! The tiramisu chocolate balls are all mine though!

Yes. I normally blame the cat, who wakes me at sunrise, but while I have been gone, I still get up at the same time, albeit in the corresponding time zone. So I am 'sleeping in' until 8 or 8:30, but it it still 6:30 back home. Doesn't seem to matter when I go to bed, but I usually need a 'catch up' nap during the day.
