  1. I'm on the "can't even afford to drive to the grocery store" diet. Seriously, $20 gets me less than half a tank. wtf? indeed. And fuel prices affect the cost of everything else as well, especially food prices.
  2. I love that jacket! It's displayed at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas, and looks even better 'in person'.
  3. "I didn't even know you were Jewish." That would never fly today. Classic, thanks Benny.
  4. Long Ryders. or maybe Tex and the Horseheads. Nope, Long Ryders Dunno if that's late 80s enuff tho.
  5. "Unions polling well, Scott Walker polling poorly"
  6. I miss candy cigarettes. Obviously the tobacco version was a gateway drug...
  7. I remember getting a compilation cassette from a friend in seattle around '88. There was a note attached saying he'd seen a band and the lead, whose looks reminded him of Sallman's Christ. One of the tracks was "Love Buzz". Always gotta give Nirvana the nod. And I <3 Dave Grohl too. Woulda thunk Nirvana was just the warm up act?
  8. ^ Actually it looks like someone spilled their coffee - I see a cup and a dark puddle at her feet.
  9. ^ :003: Manners and courtesy are taught - well they were taught. I thought I'd seen it all, when the young woman busing tables at a restaurant awhile back, shooed away a group of diners so she could clear the table. They had only just paid their bill and were still finishing their bottle of wine. TIL that morons are everywhere!
  10. ^ Maybe if you post a warning - as adults we may not be terribly shocked or offended, but if someone plays it at work, in a public space or in front of their kids, and suddenly foul language is spewing from their computer, it could be an unpleasant surprise. (I went back a page before posting this, and see you did just that - :023:)
  11. They look like Uggs to me. Maybe they are the same pair - how often does one need insulated boots in LA anyway? I didn't notice that he was wearing laceless sneakers in one of the last pics - now those have always looked dumb to me. I think Tom is Anti-Shoe! Remember the picture posted of him last year on the street? Those shoes were blown out! If it's ugly or unfashionable - it's on his feet!:icon_laugh:
  12. My bf just saw the top picture and and asked, "is that you?" Ha! The flatterer! I also might add that he didn't immediately recognize who Tom was in the picture - so he was just referring to Dana, not that he thought I was ever sitting next to Tom at some time or another. :faint: Anyway, I am really enjoying these Lakers pics, thanks for posting them.
  13. Well, I only passed along the information, but I will tell him.
  14. Thanks for the model, I'd never know. After seeing the whole body, bf is convinced it's maccassar.
  15. So what kind of guitar is it? A Tele? I didn't quite figure it out. My bf thinks the wood may be Maccassar ebony.
  16. Raw no - it's like swallowing your own tongue. Properly cooked, in certain dishes, they're all right.
  17. I've killed Cactus, and I live in the desert! I do have a spider plant that refuses to die though.
  18. Happy Birthday Smokey! I love the hat! Thanks for sharing his special day with us Beth.
  19. Andrea, I am sure somebody can identify it for you. It has a beautiful wood finish.
  20. ^ I need to order a Mac Mini today. My old work PC has gotten a little too curmugeonly for my comfort, so I was afraid I was going to have to buy another PC for economy's sake. A friend was teasing me when I told him I was going to buy a PC, and when I told him why, he offered to make up the difference so I could buy a Mac ($300 vs $700) instead! I am going to use the laptop in my studio/office, because I already have the cursed XP, Quicken and other Windows junk I need on it, plus I use it for my painting. The Mini will be my 'house' computer, replacing the old G5 iMac which developed serious motherboard problems last summer, and has been sitting dark in a corner ever since. So it's kind of win-win. I get to keep using XP (and Outlook Express - or I may start using Thunderbird, it's pretty nice and it's cross platform) a little longer, and I am on my way back to having a Windows-less world.
  21. My boyfriend only named the first guitar he made, a 12 string he calls Lorilei - which I think is a beautiful name. He calls his Taylor "Dan" because it's a Dan Crary model, otherwise he says he's never named any of the others.
  22. ^ Oh boy, another new 'feature'. :095: TIL that I really don't like smoked cheese. It always sounds yummy, but when I bite into it, meh. The smokiness is always overpowering.
  23. 1. Count your paintings, photographs and other artwork, how many pieces do you have hanging on your walls in your "home"? 16 - mostly paintings, but a few carvings, a small Navajo rug, and a couple framed prints. Out on my studio there's 25+, a couple of those are prints as well 2. Which room in your house has the most art? My studio. 3. Which piece of art is the coolest? Describe it? Mike's Red Jag.(22" X 28") A picture is worth a thousand words: 4. Which piece of art has the greatest sentimental value to you? A small study my painting teacher gave me, it's exquisite. 5. Take this quiz:What Artist Should Paint Your Portrait? Who Should Paint You: Andy Warhol You've got an interested edge that would be reflected in any portrait You don't need any fancy paint techniques to stand out from the crowd! My least favorite artist! 6. If a well known artist asked you to pose (clothed or not) for a local group of artists, would you do it? I did pose semi nude ages ago when I was thin and supple. I don't think I would again, mainly because it's hard to hold one position for so long. But if the money was good...
