  1. I don't know which is worse, knowing this is going on, or realizing that big names become so disconnected from fans - that it is their management striking these deals - and they don't have to sully their creative consciousness with the fact that maybe, just maybe, they are in it for the money.

Interestingly, I just read this interview with Jon Spencer(Pussy Galore/Boss Hog/Blues EXplosion) this morning:

Crawdaddy!: You and Cristina Martinez [spencer’s wife] benefitted in that whole corporate takeover with her band Boss Hog.

Spencer: I can’t deny that I didn’t benefit from it, that we didn’t benefit. Boss Hog did an album with Geffen. Cristina and I went out to LA to meet with David Geffen, which was a bit ridiculous when you think of it. But we were going to protect our own interests, so we were very careful about how we made the deal, and we really covered our asses. We had a great time making the record, and we ended up touring all over the world. Geffen helped us get out a little more than if we had stayed independent. In hindsight, I don’t look back on it in a bad way.

  2. It's aggravating when companies make select products out of a line available only to big chain stores, and personally, I feel it is counter productive.

Double Ditto for stores that only give you a store credit instead of really refunding your money on a return. I think there is something really wrong with that.

Happened to me at a local business, when I tried to return a $7 filter. The smirk on the clerk's face didn't help their cause either. I kept the filter, and they lost a customer. A rare case where I will order online or go out of town rather than 'shop local'.

I hope you scare up one these nice instruments up, Nurk.

  3. Yeah, it must be an oversight or just lost in the mail. I can't believe you waited four months to say something! I would have been pestering her after a couple of weeks!

You have the patience of a saint, Marion. I am sure I started pestering .05 seconds after the first person announced they'd gotten theirs and I hadn't!

Okay, not really, but I wouldn't have waited this long. Hopefully there are some copies left, because I know Linda will do her best.

Who knows? It may have gotten sent back and she's been holding it for you.

    Good luck.

  4. Dang! I need to put that on my TJs shopping list. Is it frozen?

Leftovers+ night for me: A friend gave me some chard and collard greens from her garden which I steamed, and I heated up some garlic and onion in olive oil, added left over asparagus, some mini heirloom tomatoes that were beginning to shrivel, and tossed in leftover spaghettini. Sprinkled on Romano cheese and basil, and splashed it with balsamic vinegar because of the greens.

Now I have enough left over from that for another meal!
