weird monkey replied to Refugee's topic in Anything That's Rock N Roll
The pictures are loading again (thanks Miss Sara) Those tryptichs you do are neat Steve. Seven Days isn't exactly a Dylan song instantly recognizable by most people, and unlike Corrina Corrina, there could be more than one song in the universe with that title. But what a screamer of a song! I'd love to hear them do it. -
New Dylan album this spring? UPDATE

http://gamblin--ramblin.blogspot.com/2009/03/blood-of-land.html Skip past the first couple paragraphs in Spanish, and the Rolling Stone article is in English. In the RS tradition, the writer doesn't seem to know much more than has already been said and leaves out things someone 'in the know' ought to know, so he fleshes out the article with some questionable 'facts' (eg, "the accordion on every track"). -
I'm sure I'll come up with a few as soon as I get to work. Edit: No need to wait, I just saw the most irritating ad I've seen in a long time: It's a ReMax ad with a double of a person materializing behind them every time they see a "sold" sign on a house and kicking them in the ass. The punchline is a smug couple talking about how a lot of people will be kicking themselves for not buying a house in this market. And the big news this week has been Twitter. Welcome to 2 years ago, geniuses. Finally, I wish my husband wouldn't turn on the tv first thing when he gets up in the morning.

I think I was given one when I was young, but I have no idea what my IQ is, all I know is that ever after, a bad grade got reproachful looks, and a 'we know you can do much better'. It never occurred to them that my inability to stay awake in algebra had more to do with a bad grade than lack of trying. 30 years later, I had the same thing happen when my boss would try to teach me some fine point about bookkeeping; getting hit by waves of drowsiness and being unable to keep my eyes open. Now I know I should have been allowed to doodle! I've discovered a lot about myself through these question of the day threads.

I like the Counting Crows, but the only album I have is "This Desert Life" (it's 'this' not 'the'. Imo, there isn't a bad song on it, and there's a great song on it with a few lines about a local hangout up here called Pappy & Harriet's (Pioneertown Palace). "When the last king of Hollywood shatters his glass on the floor and orders another Well, I wonder what he did that for That's when I know that I have to get out cause I have been there before So I gave up my seat at the bar and I head for the door We drove out to the desert just to lie down beneath this bowl of stars We stand up in the palace like it's the last of the great Pioneertown bars We shout out these songs against the clang of electric guitars You can see a million miles tonight But you can't get very far Oh, you can see a million miles tonight But you can't get very far" It pretty much sums up this desert life in about 5 lines Not why I bought the album, but it was a cool surprise the first time I heard those lyrics.

The Palms would be perfect. Besides, Thom Merrick is hot.

I didn't notice the flyer yesterday, maybe they put it up since then, or I'm just not very observant, or maybe it's the retinal scarring from looking at their myspace page. Thanks for calling and finding out about the tickets, Brandon. Gonna be an all nighter.

I just called the Millcreek Inn, and fwiw, they recommend reservations. (Made ours for 8 pm) If you go to the menu page http://www.millcreekcattlecompany.com/diamond_jims.php and scroll down a little, you'll see the Banquet Hall, with the stage at the far end. Scroll further past the gift baskets and there's a shot of the stage. Looks like the stage is at table level. (Hmmm, like a guy could turn an amp up to 11 and just - oh nevermind... )

This is a tough one for me. I have a horse that turns 26 this month. He's in robust health right now, but if he contracted a disease that required daily medication, or sustains an injury that needs more than a few stitches, I'd probably have to say good bye. I was raised on a farm, so I guess I'm more pragmatic about animals than most, but it's never an easy decision to make. If he was younger, I'd probably sell him, because it's so expensive to keep him as it is. The people who keep him called me yesterday, because they couldn't remember if I'd paid for his board in November. I checked, and thank God I keep good notes. I thought it odd that she called about it, because she usually calls right before they pick up hay and lets me know what the bill is. I'd bring him home, but he's bonded with their horses, and there aren't any in my neighborhood for him to befriend in their place :085: I don't know what I'm going to do if things get worse. My husband had a $12,000 job lined up last week, then the customer backed out at the last minute yesterday. Now he's got just one left, and they are cutting back on what they want him to do.

Thank you so much to post while it is so fresh on your mind, and posting more great pictures to boot. "Spill the wine" leapt into my mind too, as soon as you started to relate the story. I can't say it often enough - that camera is amazing. I hope it goes without saying that a picture is only as good as the person pressing the shutter button. I just got an update from Nina, Waddy Wachtel Band will be back at Joe's on the 23rd.

If Steve has permission from the band(s) and the venue to take pictures of the band(s) as usual, I think it'll be okay, just not get any bikers in a shot - which isn't likely anyway - unless you have their permission . I think it will be obvious that he's there for the band.

I checked back to see if your pictures loaded, and I noticed that there may have been a 2nd Dylan song: Seven Days. You can listen to one of Bob's versions here if you are unfamiliar with it (the whole thing! click on the "Listen" link below the Bootleg series 3 - Bob doing his Roy Orbison impression - picture) http://www.bobdylan.com/#/songs/seven-days Ohhhhhhh, Scarlet's violin... -
Darn. Do the kids these days still turn into pumpkins at curfew, or do they card everyone at the stroke of 9?

You got it, Spike.

Mill Creek's a restaurant/bar, so there's a good chance you can get in there. Give 'em a call. 909-389-0706

Stuck a feather in their cap and called it macaroni. -
Steve, that new camera come with a remote? Just askin'. Big John will remove it for free on the spot, 'cause he's that kinda guy. But then you gotta listen to him piss and moan about his ailments. Takes hours. Just talked to someone familiar with the place, it's neutral ground he says, a great place and safe for civilians.

I'm there! Both nights! They ought to play The Palms, eh? Seriously, I wish Mary had the motivation to promote that place. I love the Desert Classics. It's been nearly a year though, what's Ben been up to?

I was there in my early teens, but the visit was too short (one day) and mostly all I remember was being totally overwhelmed. I'd love to go back for at least a week. Museums are one of those places I don't mind revisiting over and over again.

I thought it was, but couldn't make out the : in 7:41. It seems that SiriusXM have decided to broadcat the 4 hour block on Saturday instead of Sunday - pretty much without warning. Hah! That's what I thought. The color is much more intense, maybe because the pictures are sharper among other things. That camera is amazing. Thanks for getting the setlist. Hmmm, Corrina Corrina. Just hearing the title always starts that song playing in my head. Lastly, the photos aren't loading anymore. The server again, so they will be back soon, I guess. -

What time did you catch this alleged BT show? Inquiring minds want to know. Did you swap cameras between the 3 photos posted before the radio picture, and the 3 after? Or change the ISO? Lens? The 3 'after' pictures look much crisper.
