Darkness sucks! I'm naturally a night person, but the reality is I have to function during the day. It was still dark when I got up this morning at 6, and it didn't start to get light until nearly 6:30.

It was a rattler, a Mojave (Green) in fact. Probably the most dangerous snake in North America. We used to kill the Mojaves if they showed up in the yard because they are so poisonous, but a few years ago people started poaching snakes of all types out here to sell in the city as pets, and the populations plummeted. Meanwhile the rodent populations skyrocketed. Since this one was lethargic from soaking in the cool water, he wasn't aggressive, so we managed to coax him into a box and relocate him. They are beautiful animals.

I'll second the tunes on the iPod for getting things done. I'm listening to Electric Black Night Crash, right now, and just finishing lunch. Then it's grocery shopping.

I just wish they would pick one or the other. The longer days don't make up for the fact that one day I was getting up at dawn, and the next I'm getting up in the dark - again - for a few more weeks.

If I hadn't opened my big mouth, so to speak, and posted the other picture too, most people wouldn't have caught the anomaly, because our eyes tend to dismiss things that don't fit, and fill in the blanks when necessary. The artist removed the most distracting element, we don't notice the mic stand base, and our eyes dimiss the remainder of the stand above as another shadow. Moral of the story: Don't believe what your eyes tell you kids! If he did it manually by airbrushing, manipulating the negative, etc, what he did do was masterful. But I'm wondering if it was photoshopped or otherwise digitally manipulated; which means the negative has been digitized, modified, and printed from a digital file. It kind of reminds me of the digital/analogue argument in music. I prefer the modified version, because it improved the photo, without substantially changing it. It doesn't matter to me what tools were used to get the desired effect. If anyone's seen the original photo I took my avatar from (and I bet you have!), you'll know what I mean. And Steve you beat me to it!

No. People by and large, bug the crap out of me. I don't go out of my way to deal with them, that's for sure. I usually have a couple of close friends and a few acquaintances around me, but strangers make me feel very uncomfortable. I have to force myself to come out of my shell. Until I came here, I never met anyone in person I knew online beforehand (I have mail and e-contact with some people on a Dylan forum, but they live too far away to meet right now, however I want to when the economy and my situation improves). I've met a few of you, first at the last Mudcrutch show, and since then a couple DK shows. Best People Evar! My memory is bad, especially for names, so it may take a couple more meets to get you all firmly planted in my brain, but I am so glad to have met the people I've met so far, and look forward to meeting more of you. (But only a few at a time, please! or my head will asplode) Solitude? I live 16 miles from town in the desert on a 5 acre parcel, surrounded by 4 empty 5 acre parcels, so I guess I practically qualify as a hermit.

1. How do you feel about going to the dentist? I'm terrified of dentists (see #2) 2. Describe your worst dental experience: Long story short, I had a lot of dental problems as a child, but the dentist never scared me until I was 12. I had an eyetooth so impacted, it grew in sideways and required surgery to remove. The surgeon didn't put me to sleep (ie, no general anethesia) and I remember hearing and feeling the sensation of having the roof of my mouth broken, the tooth exctracted, having no recovery time, and being terribly sick as I got in the car to go home. I was in bed for 3 days with the right side of my face swollen like a grapefruit, and when they finally made me go to school, even one of the teachers made fun of how I looked. 3. Describe your best dental experience: I had a great dentist for a couple years who took the time to get to know his patients a little, and would remember from visit to visit little details. He and his assistant were very gentle, and I never hesitated to go to him. Then he took a year off to do charity work and I went to his partner. I never saw the guy, and by the time his hygienist was done with a routine cleaning, my mouth felt like it had had a root canal, and she badgered me the whole time about flossing, quitting smoking (I did quit about 12 years ago, but no thanks to that b*tch). The 'good' dentist decided not to return to the practice after his year was up, but pursue cosmetic dentistry instead. My fear of dentistry returned with a vengance after that. 4. Do you floss on a regular basis? Daily. And anytime I feel I have something caught in my teeth. I hate that feeling. 5. If need be, would you consider wearing braces as an adult? If need be, but it's unlikely. I had them as a kid (after the surgery trauma, but I didn't fear the orthodonist, although I involuntarily bit him once when he startled me). When I see adults with braces, I think, 'good for them!', because it must make them feel very self conscious, but the results are worth it.

The start time at Angels is 8 pm, it says here on their myspace page. I'd give the 3 opening bands about 2 1/2 hours to wrap things up, assuming RD comes on right before the DKs. So I suppose getting there around 10 pm would be ample time? I like to think it was my incessant whining that had something to do with their appearance out this way, but mostly I'm just happy that they're coming, no matter the reason.
