My life would go on, but my husband would shriek and turn to dust like a vampire at sunrise. Hhmmmm.... What I would miss is my satellite internet connection, even though it pales in comparison to real broadband and it's friggin' expensive for what I get. I may find out soon though, if things don't improve.

My sympathies, nurky. I'm glad for you that it was something you could fix yourself. I just dropped $450 on the Jetta Friday because the airbag fault came on. Turns out it was a problem with the clock spring in the steering wheel control that was messing up the multifunction display. (I have no idea what I just typed). For desert, the dealership (which is 60 miles away) didn't even reset the "Service Now" warning light. F*ckers. Then the battery died Monday, and there went another $125. That giant sucking sound I keep hearing is my savings swirling away while I wait for the economy to turn around. On topic, I have to get my financial reports in order for may tax preparer, now that I have all my clients' done. Except for one laggard - f*ck her if she can't get her stuff to me on time and then expects me to reallocate, reconcile and balance 14 months worth of paperwork in 2 weeks, like I don't have anything else on my schedule. I can't say it enough, f*ck 'em, f*ck 'em all [insert the most offensive, sick thing you can think of here, then triple it and click 'Submit', plzthx.] Sorry folks, but my patience is wearing thin.

The best solution imo, is to simply not pay their outrageous prices. I don't like scalping, but I like even less people not being able to buy tickets for friends, or not being able to sell (at cost) or give their tickets away if they can't make it to a show, because you have to show ID at the gate, etc. Holding back seats to gouge ticket buyers is only a windfall though. I'm not so sure the peasantry will be so willing to pay regular ticket prices anymore either, and that's really going to hurt some performers. I hope they have socked away the money they've been making off concert goers the last few years.

I can't grow much out here - every couple years I'll try tomatoes or something, and every time it's a lot of work for little return. I do have some flowers and fruit trees. One of nectarine trees flowered already, and my miniature daffodils are blooming on schedule, which prompted me to clean the dead leaves and debris out of the flowerbeds last weekend. In another month, I'll be clearing out the mulberry trees' fuzzy-not-seed-dealies when they drop. Spring has come late to the high desert, and I don't know if we're going to have a lot of wildflowers or not. The cactus in my yard should bloom well though. Thanks for the photos, I'm looking forward to more as the weather warms up.

I've had a few clients with liquor licenses. I can't imagine what some poor stoners would do if faced with having to jump through those hoops. When it comes to legalization (except for medical), I say, be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. The activities of the cartels along the border are getting a little scary, but that's a different issue.

I can't convince my husband that we ought to drop the extra XM subscription for the car. I'm the one who drives it daily - mostly to and from work - also we have a SkyFi receiver that goes anywhere, but mostly lives in his truck which he drives daily. He thinks he'll be 'deprived' without it - in the car he's hardly ever in. :075: I have until April 2 to knock some sense into him.

I think they are the ugliest footwear ever, and look ridiculous on anyone older than 5. There's got to be other options that are just as comfortable, but not so obnoxious. This is one instance where I won't even say "live and let live". Wrap them in your Snuggie® and bury them.

This is a great idea Relic, and timely, since SiriusXM is going to start charging subscribers for their flaky online radio. http://www.dylanradio.com/ This website is a kick! It sounds best if you play it in a media player (WinAmp, iTunes, etc), but you miss the interactive aspects on the site, if you do that. It features everything from official recordings, boots, covers, and Pete's 'Please' Pleas. iTunes is an excellent source of online radio stations, there's hundreds listed (although some streams are dead, so ymmv). Bitrates range from 24 kbps to 128 kbps (the quality SiriusXM is touting as one reason to start charging). I listened to the Blues Classics station today, and Play Classical UK is another fave station of mine.

I still have the cassette laying around somewhere... ...and Kurt Cobain did not write Lake of Fire.

I always resented the fact that all that m.o.r. cheesy stuff edged out those "why-weren't-they-more-successful" bands in the '80s. So many, like the Violent Femmes, Hüsker Dü, the Meat Puppets, et al, only became well known (even popular) about 10 years too late for them. I have a definite love-hate relationship with that decade. It surprises me too, that people can be ambvilent about music. My family are like that and many, if not most, people I know. Are they aurally colorblind? What's wrong with them? I think what would surprise my friends is that I listen to a variety of music. When people ask what type of music I listen to or like, I really don't know what to say. My musical tastes constantly evolve. I have to admit though, that modern urban music and some rock bands I just find alienating.
