  1. Whilst nothing seems to ever go the way one expects – look how long it’s taken for any real news of the new album to surface – Sony’s current intention is to issue a press release about the new album this coming Monday. Once that is out, the UK Promoters will be able to release information about the extra London show to be held on April 26th. Not long to wait. I understand that the bonus DVD will contain some previously unreleased tracks that are unconnected with the studio sessions for this album or the previous album plus something else a little more out of the usual for an official Dylan release. Sony will let us know more in due course.

    John

Also, amazon is listing the album with a title (no artwork): Together Through Life in vinyl, Deluxe Edition CD +DVD, and CD.

Edit: The bonus is a DVD, not a CD.

  2. Damn, this is pretty exciting!

Springsteen, Dylan and Cohen to Release New Singles

Legendary artists Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen are amongst the growing number of artists to support Record Store Day which is happening on April 18. Full details of the rereleases are to be confirmed but the Record Store Day twitter site has revealed that they will be 7" vinyl.

Other artists releasing material at selected record stores around the world include My Morning Jacket, who are to release a 7 track live EP called 'Celebración De La Ciudad Natal’, Elvis Costello and Jenny Lewis, Graham Coxon, Sonic Youth, Beck are to release singles and Franz Ferdinand plan to release some remixes.

Rough Trade Shops plans special releases from The Smiths, New Order, The Stooges and Jane's Addiction.

And it isn't just in the USA, but Canada, Japan and much of Europe, too. If you are interested in celebrating independent record stores, check out these links:

  3. 1. How many foreign countries have you visited? 5

    2. What do you always take with you on vacation? music

    3. Name something you've lost recently: hope

    4. Do you prefer action packed vacations or relaxing ones? somewhere in bewteen, I don't like having to recuperate after I get back.

    5. Other people's vacation photographs: do you really want to see them? Love 'em!

  4. The business of art is complicated, that's for sure. I've had work in galleries, done art shows/fairs, etc, and had good experiences, discouraging ones etc. So much of success in art is being in the right place at the right time, it's unpredictable, and if one chases trends, one is going to end up frustrated. One of the reasons I didn't pursue commercial art after college (young and stupid stupid stupid in retrospect), was the competitive backbiting, trying to read clients' minds, and spending 99% of one's time doing it to make a living instead of doing what you love and/or what inspires you.

The fortune in my fortune cookie Wednesday night said, "Hold on Tight to Your Dreams". I'm taking that as a message from God thankyouverymuch. :)

  5. I can't say I absolutely hate it either, but you are so right about it never shutting up, and most of the time it's shouting in my house. [shudders]

My first husband was European, and he noticed that Americans have a habit of turning the tv on, and leaving it on even if they aren't watching it, as though they need the constant background noise. It's true in my house. I even knew someone once who couldn't sleep at night if it wasn't on.

  6. How Soap Operas Got Their Name

When soap operas began, they were first broadcast on the radio. Called “dramatic serials,” soap manufacturers such as Procter and Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, and Lever Brothers were the show’s sponsors. In time, the name “soap opera” came to be and has remained ever since.

Plenty of soap as far as I'm concerned (and 'm not talking about the ads), and someone always sings like a canary.

  7. ^Hey I finally saw Scott close up and in person at the Joint show... Every time I see him I think.... "sugar lips"...lol

Ha-ha (I probably shouldn't laugh), my husband gave a loud whooping whoohoo during the show, only to discover that the guy standing right in front of him was Scott, who responded very appropriately by turning around and giving him the stink eye for shouting in his ear. :108:

Makes Rolling Stone look like the imposter it has become. This is how to write a record 'preview' hippies - give us something sweet salty hot and sour to snack on whilst we wait. I've got a baaaad feeling about #6 though.

"It's a powerful personal work by a man who still thinks for himself in an era of fear, conformity, and dehumanization. That it rocks mightily makes the message even more compelling. Whatever the hell it gets called, it'll be in the running for Best Album Of 2009."

    Hell, I'm excited.

  9. My life would go on, but my husband would shriek and turn to dust like a vampire at sunrise. Hhmmmm....

What I would miss is my satellite internet connection, even though it pales in comparison to real broadband and it's friggin' expensive for what I get. I may find out soon though, if things don't improve.
