  1. 'It's All Good' is the surprise track for me, because people were deriding the use of the cliché before the album came out (maybe it would be the new 'Wiggle Wiggle'), but it works very well as Dylan uses it ironically. It's been awhile since he's used irony quite that way in a song.
  2. priceless (take that anyway you want )
  3. I almost said taste it first, because I like to try new things, but sometimes just knowing the main ingredient, or the smell is enough to know I won't like it. Case in point: liverwurst. Blech.
  4. "The bard has inspired some great writing, and we thought today would be a great day to celebrate it. Below is our Dylan Takeover content, which will be updated throughout the day. Hope you enjoy." PASTE PRESENTS: THE DYLAN TAKEOVER There's a link to a full stream of the album in there somewhere, but it really ought to be heard in CD quality, at least. People that heard the leaked mp3 earlier were underwhelmed (served them right :098:)
  5. Thanks for the update, 'bastard. You boys are busy! The new sound makes me wish I was a few years younger - great vid. The DVD is gonna be a must have. Looking forward to catching a gig soon.
  6. If you close your eyes, "This Dream of You" will make you think you are in the cantina, take you to Durango, maybe even lost in Juarez! As for the rest, I think I just had different expectations, after hearing the preview of Beyond Here Lies Nothing. Like I said, I'm still processing what I'm hearing. No two songs is anything like another on this album, yet they flow. I can't believe he managed this in only weeks.
  7. Nope. Funny, Tom mentioned a listener requesting Buried Treasure Podcasts last week. I think paying for a podcast subscription for a show on itunes is a great idea and would be like buying a season of tv shows, but SiriusXM must not agree. I would have bought the BB King/Bill Wax shows (“You and Me with B.B. King”) broadcast on Bluesville in a heartbeat. As it is, I only caught a few of them, since I only usually listen in my car.
  8. ^ Probably the expenses incurred when the concert was cancelled, providing one kept all the receipts and can produce them. Sounds too good to be true that they cover the costs of expenses incurred now. I got a letter from Toshiba once that said I was entitled to a new DVD player because I had bought one that played only commercially made DVDs and CDs. It wasn't enough though that I had registered the product, which is how they got my name and address, I had to produce a proof of purchase. After 6 years, the receipt was long gone missing of course. :085: It's sort of their ace in the hole. I'd like to think Aerosmith will put on a good performance. The actual performance is the least of it anyway. The logistics of doing a show for nothing will be very expensive.
  9. I got my LP yesterday, thank God it came with a CD, because I'm separated from my turntable right now. Frankly, I'm still processing it. The guitar work isn't as outstanding in the mix as I'd expected, and with the exception "This Dream of You", Hidalgo's talents with the accordion seems under utilized. I also wish there was some written clue as to who is playing what and when on each track. 3 mandolin players? All I can figure out is if the accordion is being played, then it probably isn't DH plucking any strings. Still this album is filled with nuance, everytime I listen, my ear picks out another subtle treasure. I love the little hum Bob throws in towards the end of "Life is Hard" This morning when I turned on the tv, the first face I saw was Bob's! It was an interview with Douglas Brinkley, who interviewed Bob for the next issue of RS (hits newstands Friday I think). I haven't been enamored of RS for a long time, but I am definitely getting this one for that article, based on this interview. I think it will outshine the Flanaghan piece used by dylan.com to promote the new album. Fwiw, here's a link to the video (I hope it works): http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/vp/30453059#30453059 Oooh, that means outtakes! Mike knows how to wind up a Dylan fan! :003: Thanks for posting that Ref!
  10. I'm listening to http://www.gotradio.com/ 's Guitar Genius station (through itunes, but you can listen through the website.) A station featuring (classical) acoustic guitar just fits the bill for me today. I don't know if gotradio's been mentioned, but they have an interesting variety of different 'stations'.
  11. I tune in every day to see the next installment.
  12. ^ I run across this stuff in my neverending quest to find material for BT and Rockin' Around covers. I don't think I'd use either of those, although I did use this one from what looks like the same time period:
  13. Zero, but that may be changing soon.
  14. Highly unlikely, but I don't know what it's about, either.
  15. ^ SLQ, the pictures in that set are scary! Relic's pic of Ron is nice.
  16. Zero. I too, preferred horseback riding instead. I still do.
  17. My first thought was lagging ticket sales when I read the article. "Scheduling conflict" just doesn't fly when it's a tour - which indicates it was planned many many months or even years in advance. People just can't fork out so much money these days without a second thought. There may be an exception here or there, but I don't think I'll be going to any large concerts this year. Maybe not even Bob. I was burned out already last year even before the economy went south, from Ticketmaster-type shenanigans.
  18. For some reason, I missed Ames post before. The cat we adopted a couple months ago was a 'foreclosure' cat. Someone brought their cats to the church were my husband goes to meetings, and they were fed and taken care of until they found new homes.
  19. Ooooh. El Dorado.... I love that model era of Cadillac.
  20. Yes, thanks Pankie. I love it when I hear of people are so willing to voluntarily continue to educate themselves and keep up with changes in their chosen fields. I'm going to check out the link and the new album.
  21. I guess it's all been said regarding your question, but welcome to the Farm. There's plenty of things going on here!
