  1. No, I'm not interested, and there are no events near me anyway.
  2. 1. Vegetable Group: chocolate 2. Fruit Group: chocolate What?
  3. The alarm from the scientific community is justified, because it is a new strain that could mutate into something really virulent before they develop a vaccine to fight it. The media, as usual, not only got it wrong but sensationalized it all out of proportion. Then they sensationalized how wrong they got it. Sigh.
  4. Thanks for some tentative dates, Dave. :026: Is this going to be a 2-nighter again then? :faint:
  5. Those postcards are interesting in and of themselves. I'm thinking he picked them up during his travels and used them for correspondence from home. I wonder if it is coincidental that they are both nautical, or whether he likes boats? So much to wonder about from just a couple postcards. It must have been exciting when they came in the mail! Yes, Wilbur is very 'zen', he loves people and all creatures, particularly since he's now too old to chase rabbits. He used to steal the neighbor's chickens too, but he'd only bring them home unharmed, and then we'd have to take them back. He loved to travel when he was younger, and people used to flock to him and want to pet him and have their picture taken with him, especially small children and Japanese tourists. It was very strange how people were attracted to him.
  6. Thanks for sharing the postcards Beth. (see them here): http://www.mudcrutch.com/forum/showpost.php?p=157708&postcount=1256 Pete's a National Treasure. Just keep the fire axes away from him!* *although that's a bit of a distortion, I think.
  7. I interchange, but usually floss first. Like Starfish said, one is supposed to brush, then floss, but sometimes it makes sense to floss, albeit carefully, before.
  8. Thank you Beth! that was the highlight of your trip for me! I'd love to take one of those 'horsey' trips to the UK and/or Ireland where you get to ride.
  9. There is a Thai Monastary across the road from our house, and apparently, it isn't unusual for stray cats and dogs to take up residence in the Buddhist monastaries in Thailand. http://bkkstreetdogs.blogspot.com/2005/04/introducing-max-temple-dog.html Anyway, our dog Wilbur has sort of become the unofficial temple dog for the monks next door. What's humorous is that his coat matches the saffron color of their robes. Wrong sect, but I often refer to him as the 'dogggie lama'. Today they had an open house/ potluck, so Will and I strolled over and I took a couple pictures of the 'temple dog':
  10. 1. Did you get very far? What's the farthest away from home you've gone on a summer vacation? China. 2. Like does he have a car? What type of car would you like to drive around in for the summer? Doesn't matter, as long as it "goes" 3. Was it love at first sight? Have you ever felt love at first sight? Yes. 4. Did she put up a fight? What was the last fight you had about? An ill advised purchase. Still smarting from that one. 5. But you don't gotta brag. What accomplishment or talent are you most proud of? I'm most proud of my artistic talent.
  11. Thanks for humoring me, Merritt. I'm not a musician, so I can listen, but not discern playing subtleties unless someone points them out. I'm going to listen for those little licks now. It so cool that someone who plays concurs with my theory, and even suggests something to listen for. I guess I am sort of assuming it was recorded "live", but even so there is always the possibility of adding a track later, if the producer feels it needs jazzing up or something.
  12. Typical Jack Frost* I give it a whirl a few times a day, and I am liking it better and better. So is that Mike featured on mandolin on "Life is Hard" and Donny on steel, or Donny on mandolin and Mike on that special Fender that he can make sound like a steel? The smart money says the former, but I like the idea that it could go either way. I probably give poor Merritt a headache typing stuff like that. *The pseudonym Bob uses as a producer.
  13. Thanks for sharing that link, SLQ, that was an unexpected surprise! Great pics.
  14. To do a thorough job, I was told to brush manually for at least 7 minutes, while an electric brush does it in 2. I use an electric brush. It even holds a charge long enough that I can take it camping! I do have a manual brush around, just in case though.
  15. Urgh. The liner notes go something like this: Guitar: Bob Dylan David Hildago (yes it's a typo on the sleeve) Mike Campbell Mandolin: Donny Herron Mike Campbell Steel Guitar: Donny Herron but we all know Mike has a Fender equipped with one of those B-Bender dealies. The best clues are the process of elimination: if you hear accordion, David's not playing guitar. If you hear trumpet or banjo, Donny's not playing mandolin (although I am not sure on the fly if both instruments feature on the same song), etc... "I just said, 'Good luck.' " On "Beyond Here Lies Nothin'", it's pretty easy. The rest, not so much, at least for me. Edited to add: Do fans scrutinize other bands so much? :053:
  16. I was in line with a woman in the grocery store yesterday who had a mask on, and I was wondering if she was taking precautions (she was using one of the store's electric carts, so maybe she was infirm), or had just come back from Mexico. I've heard masks don't do much good to protect you, but if you think you've been exposed, it protects the people around you. My husband just called, and said 4 cases are now reported on the base, and news vans were headed that way. As they say on Fark, News Vans? EVERYBODY PANIC! Actually, a lot of them (marines, not news vans) go to Mexico on short leave via San Diego, so I am not surprised. I hope they all have a speedy recovery. On the bright side, no one on that base will be going anywhere they may get shot at anytime soon.
  17. BBQ meatballs!?! I've lived here 20 years, and I never! Except I've seen BBQ sauce dumped on meat loaf, so I'm not surprised. I'll bear that in mind next time I'm at Cozy's - hopefully in June!
  18. They just announced on MSNBC that there is a Marine in 29 Palms with it. I live in the area, so it's important to me, but I'm not sure what makes it national news. This disease seems pretty easily quarantined (just a few days' isolation) and there is medicine for it, I don't think it's going to bring down the USMC.
