More wonderful shots, Thanks.
The first sip of that beer was Mike's undoing - after that, he was 'useless'.

(Somebody else will have to explain)

Here's a link to part 2 of the interview, if you download the pdf, it starts at the beginning.
http://www.bobdylan.com/#/conversation?page=5
Part 2 has a little bit about Mike.
Also, if you pre-order the album through skyroo (via bobdylan.com), you get a poster (dunno how big it is though, bigger than a postcard I guess) I mean, I'm a poster, and I'm only 130 pixels tall.

Mike is on Dylan's new album. That got confirmed today. ):From the 'Conversations' interview at bobdylan .com:
The instrumental sections on your albums have a different quality
than the usual rock instrumental sections. For instance, on an
Aerosmith record, at least part of it is about Joe Perry’s solo. While
there's wonderful playing on BEYOND HERE LIES NOTHING, we don't
hear the usual guitar soloing technique. Is there a special way you
approach the instrumental sections on a record?
What can I say, if I had Joe Perry with me everything would obviously be
different. As it is though, he wasn’t there. Soloing is not a big part of my
records anyway. Nobody buys them to hear solos. What I try to do is to make
sure that the instrumental sections are dynamic and are extensions of the
overall feeling of the song.
Who’s that playing with you here?
Mike Campbell.
You have a history with Mike?
Yeah, I do. He played with me a lot when I played with Tom Petty.
I saw some of those shows. I particularly liked the segment during
the show when it was just you and Mike and Benmont and no bass or
drums.
Yeah. We worked out a few things. I would’ve always liked to have seen that
develop more, but it didn’t.
How is he to work with?
He’s good with me. He’s been playing with Tom for so long that he hears
everything from a songwriter’s point of view and he can play most any style.

Oh these are great Steve! I can't wait for more! more! more!
-
An otherwise great shot - um, Matt?

That's better! But now Lance has disappeared...

Mike using a bottle slide:

Our Mike, he sucks and he blows, but we love!

Why? Silly question!

I love the mirror-like expressions - now that's teamwork!

A couple more gratuitous pictures, hope you don't mind

It's really a shame you can't upload those meals as pdfs and share them. I can almost smell them from here.
I still have to get the guest house ready for my aunt and uncle, and a dozen other little tasks.
But I think I'll upload some more Knobs pictures instead. What say you?

Being able to pay bills online is great, even better is being able to file business taxes - not only do we not have to fill out tedious paper forms and pester clients for checks before the deadlines pass, most of the online forms autofill and do the calculations for you. I hope some of the money they save goes for providing broadband access across the country though. The main reason I am losing most of my clients when I move my office home is that my internet connection is inadequate. At $80/mo, all I can say is, it's better than dialup. :085:
I think the Post Office is one of those entities that ought to be able to adjust to changing times, it's actually a very efficient system when it works.
One thing you are supposed to be able to do is print out the label and pay for your shipping charge online and the postal carrier picks up your package. The system works great until you try to pay. The system will take my personal credit card, but not my business card for no apparent reason (same type of account, hell, it's even from the same bank!), so they have lost a business customer who mails a lot of packages. I have notified them several times over the last couple years, and they always say they are aware of the problem and hope to fix it soon.
I believe the fancy term for this is malfeasance. On one hand, they blame the internet and private companies for cutting into their profits, but on the other, can't be arsed to fix what is probably a very simple problem which probably costs them millions a year. (no other vendor I know of would let this problem exist more than a nano second) I even sent a letter to the Post Master General, because the last time I tried the online shipping system and it failed at checkout, was around the time they were announcing the postage rate hike and that they were thinking of dropping Saturday deliveries a couple months ago.

More great pictures! Thanks. Waiting to hear from Brandon....
We should hear from him mañana, he'll be driving home today. Keep him in your good thoughts - the weather's supposed to be bad.

1. What is the last party you went to?
I don't remember
2. Would you say that you are a good worker?
I tend to go too far in the other direction and work harder than what a job is worth.
3. Who can you talk with for hours?
A friend.
4. Who was the last person you greeted at your door?
My parents.
5. Take this quiz - Are You Flirtatious, Fearless, Factual, or Friendly?
You Are Factual
You are highly intelligent, especially in areas that deal with concrete knowledge and facts.
You are amazingly analytical. You can make sense of chaos without involving your emotions.
If anything, you tend to be overly logical. It's sometimes hard for you to come to a decision, because you're too busy weighing all the options.
People turn to you in times of trouble. They know that they can trust you to give good, well thought out advice.
6. Do you feel that the results of the quiz describes you accurately? Why or why not?
The results are surprisingly accurate, but several questions had different choices that would have fit me just as well. All 4 options in #2 (Indecisive, Irritating, Irresponsible, Impatient) fit me equally well, Impatient won by a whisker.

I used to go to the libraray frequently, but they cut hours back many years ago, which made it difficult to go when they are open. I wanted a book a few weeks ago and they didn't have it, so I tried to order it online and found out my card wasn't any good anymore. I went in to get a new one and the computer was down. I went in the following week, got a card, reserved a book from another library, but by the time it came 3 weeks later, I'd found it online for $4 (which was mostly shipping). Our branch is too small to be very useful for research. What I really need is a library that has wifi and one of those job search centers.

Some songs I know they did last night at Mill Creek are:Minimum Wage, Humdinger, Balls Off, Working Class Hero/Hide Your Love, Shake These Blues, She Said She Said, Hey Bulldog, Soothe Me (so cool!) I'm pretty sure the did So Tired - I'll try to think of more...
I believe they started with Feed the Snake, then Never Gonna Own Me (Bye Bye Bye), and then Humdinger. And sometime later they played Hey, Bo Diddley, then segued into another blues standard. Jason sang Love Minus Zero.
I think the third Beatles song after Working Class Hero and Hide Your Love was I'm So Tired. I know they did three in a row some where. That hour and a half went by in a flash.
Square One, I am looking forward to seeing some of your pictures, the previews in the camera looked great. I know you got some special ones I hope you can share.
I was bummed not being able to go last night, but my husband didn't remember to tell me until on the way home Friday night (2:30 am Saturday actually) that we had a funeral to go to Saturday afternoon, and then out of the blue, my uncle called from Palm Springs (I had no idea they were in the area) later Saturday and told me they are coming up the hill Monday to visit, so I thought maybe I should stay home so I could get ready for them on Sunday. I was still debating about it in the evening and my husband didn't tell me, but told someone else on the phone, that he was staying home (thanks, sweetie :012:) Anyway, I fell asleep at 10:30 when I would have just been arriving at the bar if I'd gone.
-
A couple things came up today, so I decided not to go tonight, I hope everyone who got to go have fun and get home safely.

Okay folks, here's some more:
I took this one early as I was fooling with camera settings, so it's not very good, but I like the juxtaposition between Mike and the dog:

This one's obligatory:

(wipe the slobber off your screens, ladies)
Nice footwork fellas:

Fancy footwork, and nobody's face is obscured by a mic or headstock(not much anyway):

Soooo intense:

Mother of pearly whites:

Wipe the slobber off your screens, gents (you know who you are):110:

This one's for you nurk! And it sounds like seltaeb is a guitar fan too.

Good thing Mike had his nails done before the show.

Whatever it's heritage, that guitar's been around. It wasn't quite as beat up as the famous telecaster*, but it has some battle scars and a pretty grimy fretboard. Those white specks on the body aren't photo flaws or flash reflections - they are chips.
I can't wait to see other people's pictures. There were lots of shutterbugs up front. It's been awhile since I used the 'big camera', so it took awhile before I got the settings right. I expect we won't hear Brandon's story until he gets back to his computer in Montana - but he's getting another Knobbin' tonght!
Edit: I meant Broadcaster. D'oh!

Best Show Evar! It was really great and I too wish we had a setlist - I would say about half were Beatles' tunes, or close to it. I knew them all, but the only one I really remember that I hadn't that heard the band play before was She Said She Said, because also Tom spun it on Buried Treasure this week. Then there was Working Class Hero, and the birthday boy, Swampfox, sang Hey Bulldog.
It was great to meet some new folks and see some I'd met before. It's too bad more people couldn't make it, the guys really played their hearts out as always, but the crowd had thinned out, probably because it got so late. Not that I'm complaining, because I hate crowds my self.
Brandon and I got to meet Mike and Jason for the first time (thanks to SquareOne and Pettyphile), who were both very gracious, and the last thing the Apeman said as he left was something to the effect of, "I'm just a monkey, that's all I am", which I naturally found humorous.

My satellite connection is lagging worse than usual, but I managed to upload a few pictures:
Happy birthday, Matt! (sorry the picture's not so good - my flash didn't quite reach that far)(yes, I succumbed to using my flash)

Not my best group shot, but was a bunch of characters! I love how the guy on the far right was just lovin' it all so much from beginning to end!

:023:Those were great! Thanks!

1. Other than the official start of spring on the calender, what really signifies the start of spring for you?
When the fruit trees start to bloom and the rest leaf out.
2. How severe is your spring cleaning bug this year?
Not very. Although when it starts to warm up I want to be outdoors doing yardwork.
3. What one thing says "spring" to you more than any other?
There's just something in the air, I can't describe it.
4. What are your springtime traditions?
None
5. When do you break out your spring and summer wardrobe? When the temps get up to the 80s (we've had a couple this week, so we're on the cusp), then I look at my lily-white, bristly legs and cry. It's unfair that men don't have to worry about whether they want to be comfortable or presentable.

I have a cat named Gizmo too (named by the people who rescued him) although he goes by many names: Gizmodo, Spazmo, Gizzard, Gizwald, etc. He's a long haired siamese that our neighbors found hiding under their barn.
My husband brought our other cat home about a month ago. The previous owner had her house foreclosed on, so he brought one of her cats home. Her name is Mia, and she's a dark tortoiseshell. She's almost black except for a little white and tan on her chin and the bottom of her paws, and her coat is flecked with gold.
Gizmo is feisty and tries to dominate, while Mia is panther-like and could beat the crap out of him if she wanted to. They haven't decided whether they like each other or not.

Damn ! :085:According to an hard-core Bob Dylan fan (friend of mine),
the rumor goes that Mike Campbell will be joining Dylan's Tour this year.
I'm now more pessimistic 'bout a European Tour this year.
Really...interesting:cool:Not the European tour, I think. It starts on the 22 in Stockholm, and the Knobs are playing in Yucaipa and Mentone on the 20th & 21st. This makes it very unlikely that Mike will be involved then.
Also, both of the tour band's guitarists have confirmed that they are on the tour. Within recent memory, Bob hasn't played anything off a new album until after it's released and a new tour starts, and the latest album isn't being released until April 27 (28th in the US), which is 7 dates before the end of the tour.
Bob's already signed up for the Rothsbury festival in July, which hints at a summer US tour of some kind. That's when I would expect maybe a new lineup, new songs, something different.
I don't know if Bob would pull a Rolling Thunder type tour on us or not. Seems unlikely.

...Or he was loaded to the gills on rocket exhaust fumes.

-
No, and I probably never will. I thought about it in my 20s, but could never settle on anything. Then it became trendy and I lost interest in it.
-
That's great! ...and an album too.
After meeting in fall 2007, the band completed work on its debut album which is expected sometime this spring.

:023: Great poster Ames! There were quite a few at Mentone, but they'd all disappeared by the end of the show - I'm sure they found good homes.
I can't wait to see Marcia's pictures too!
