A roll in bed with honey, of course

I will concede that as stupid as they look, I take comfort in the fact that at least the wearers have happy feet, but the reason I'm revisiting this thread is that the lolcats don't care about your happy feet.

Slightly off topic, but NPR's "all songs considered" has a bunch of live stuff from the 03/19/09 SXSW Festival, which you can either stream or listen to as a podcast.

There's also an archive of Nickel Creek's 'farewell for now' show from Nov 2007, among other great perfromances.

That was a tough call, but I chose museums over art galleries. I confess I get a little depressed when I see something hanging in a gallery and I wonder why on earth someone would consider it art. Museums rarely disappoint.

Two hours to LAX - FOUR back!!! Yikes.Four? Considering where you could have been..., ouch.

Gripe: Mr. Pettyhead is at home most of the day...could I get a little help with some housework while I'm at work?!! I drop the kids off his mom's house/school.. C'mon..get off the couch a few minutes! Seriously, the couch is not going to float away if you leave it for a couple of minutes.
I feel your pain. For awhile, and I don't know why, the dirty dishes fairies were visiting on a semi regular basis on days when I don't get home until 8:30 - it was nice to come home to a clean sink. But they haven't been around lately. The dishes multiply when I'm not around though, go figure.
I don't understand it either, but I like the couch comment. Nor will the tv rust over from lack of use.

1. Are you a fan of soup? I love soup
2. What is your favorite kind of soup? The latest I've tried is white chili, and I was just thinking of making it again soon...
3. Are you a fan of nuts? Sure
4. What is your favorite kind of nut or dish containing nuts? Little See's candies with walnuts, peacns, cashews, it doesn't matter as long as it's covered in chocolaty goodness.

5. If you had to eliminate either soup or nuts from your diet for the rest of your life, which would you choose? Well, soup doesn't get stuck between my teeth...

...The special Saturday coincides with Indio, CA's Coachella Festival, and Record Store Day will host the on-site music-merchandise tent for the three-day desert concert. Several Coachella performers plan to release exclusive products as well, including Jenny Lewis, The Black Keys and Mastadon, who will unveil "Crack The Skye" on 180-gram vinyl with an extra 7" single and lyric sheet.
A list of participating music shops is available at recordstoreday.com.
That's interesting. Anybody going this year? I guess you have to already be a festival goer to get into the tent?
I'll still be going to Record Alley.
I followed the link and saw some detail of the exclusive releases.
Bob Dylan
7"--"Dreaming of You"/"Down Along the Cove"
tracks recorded live at Bonnaroo; packaged in clear sleeve with 3x5 photo
This makes no sense, but I am getting it anyway.
Thanks to the Buried Treasure show, I must have this as well:
MC 5
7" "Kick Out The Jams"/"Motor City Is Burning"
Packaged in the original rare picture sleeve, first time available since 1969
Urgh. I hate the fine print, even when it's all caps:
"*EACH STORE ON THIS SITE STOCKS THEIR OWN RACKS. WE ARE NOT GUARANTEEING THAT EACH STORE WILL HAVE EACH PIECE. CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL STORE FOR AVAILABILITY."

I've never seen Del Toro play a comedic role, so I chose him. He's such a wonderful actor, though, that he'll probably be great. It sounds like it might be a really good movie with such a talented and interesting cast!VNiNNMYLsVc
Still can't see him as Moe, though.

I'm listening to this station right now. I've also started a playlist in iTunes for stations like this and dylanradio that play in iTunes, but aren't listed in the iTunes Radio Library.

My feeling is that people (in this country at least) are disconnected enough from the rest of life on this planet, and banning public access is contrary to the purpose of having public land.
It is cost effective, because what they do is simply barricade access points, and voila!, there's another 10,00 acres they don't have to be responsible for. No trails to maintain, no pesky hikers getting lost, etc. I'm glad I got to discover the desert when I did, because many areas now are hike-in only (and I'm not up to a 20 mile hike) or not accessible at all.
-
While I am in favor of preserving wilderness, I think education would be a better use of resources than cutting access off to everyone but the young and fit (and wealthy). How can we be expected to respect wilderness if we aren't allowed to see and experience it? It's been my experience in the last 20 years of living in an environmentally sensitive area, that as the government restricts more and more access to desert lands, the more rampant is the vandalism occurring either by acts of ignorance, or more and more people trying to recreate in smaller and smaller pieces land.
I have also discovered over the years that some of these restricted areas, particularly in the Sierras, may be off limits to the hoy-poloy, but are in fact retreats and hunting grounds for well off members of such distinguished environmental institutions as the Edison Company and the Metropolitan Water District. My husband and I took a strenuous hike once from the June Lake Loop near Mammoth Lakes up to Walker Lake. On our side there were no motor vehicles allowed! Stay on the trails! Pack it in, Pack it out! Don't take so much as a pebble or a pine cone! Enjoy your public lands! 4 hours later, when we finally got to our destination, we saw powerboats docked on the other side, and a very fancy, very large 2 story log lodge on the other side. Nice.
I was raised in a truly rural area, and to this day, 'city people' - even the environmentally friendly ones - baffle me. If you live in the LA basin particularly, ask yourself where your water and power originates from, and where all that smog goes when the wind blows in off the ocean? (Cough.)
Ironically, one of the areas mentioned in this link from the article, A look at key provisions in wilderness bill, Joshua Tree National Park, is far more adversely affected by air pollution blowing in from the west, than by any impact from visitors. Not only is it obvious that smog is bad if you need to breathe to live, it is also infused with nitrates which encourage growth of invasive plants (weeds), which in turn choke out delicate native species, which in turn starve out the animals along the food chain.
Sorry, I just had to vent. I think over all, our environmetal policy is very misguided.

My prayers are with Duane and his family.
I'm having dinner tonight at a friend's home (bring your own victuals), who is also terminally ill. Wednesday was always Girls' Night Out at a local restaurant for us, so we're making adjustments; We're letting her husband hang out with us too, corn dogs and all.

-
Hey! there was no "Whine about it Wednesday" thread today.
That's all I got to whine about today.

...I think I first heard the song at Cozy's. 'They are just setting levels' someone said. LOL!
They can set levels that way any time they want

The Dirty Knob's level setting is better than most band's main act!
Yes, I believe Mike apologized (tongue firmly in cheek) for making us listen to their 'sound check' during the first 2 songs that night. (And the Customer Service work shirt he had on said it all :003: )
And I do remember him walking into the mic Friday - because I expected to hear a very loud "Thunk", but didn't - the sound guy must have seen it coming.

And more pictures on the way! Yay! :026: Bring 'em!

I don't know if there's gonna be any more pictures, but my favorite so far is the "Ape Guitar Grip!"

I have only been to a few recent shows, but I really think Jason was hamming it up for all the shutterbugs last weekend, which was fun. My husband thanked him after the show, and he replied, "yeah, it was just GREAT, wasn't it?" He was so effusive!
-
Last week. Luckily for me, headaches are usually minor and go away on their own. I don't remember the last time I had to reach for an aspirin bottle.
-
Great pictures, Marcia! Is it me or is Apeman aping for the cameras? Gotta Love it! Love it! Love it!
-
-
I'm both. It's midday that I loathe.
-
No so good, but I am really terrible at getting cards out and such even if I do remember.
-
Well folks, after my near-death experience driving home from the shows, I have to say that it was totally worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat. And I probably will!I doubt it could have been better. I was perfect. The Dirty Knobs are beyond amazing. Romeo Delta shows signs of being able to break it big should they choose to.
Thanks to the Knobs, Romeo Delta, and the wonderful Farmers that kept me company during this amazing experience. (Actually, I feel bad about you guys having to hang out with me. I'm a pretty big loser!!)
Ah but you're a loser at the top of your game! I enjoyed meeting you Brandon, you can hang out with me anytime! :045:
I'm glad you made it home safe.

Yes, Love Minus Zero/No Limit, is from Bringing It All Back Home (1965)
I love the way Jason sings it.
