  1. I haven't been coming to this site for some years other than very rare occasions so don't feel my input is as crucial as others. That being said, I agree with Shelter 100%. Don't let those big social media behemoths who only want to steal as much info from you as they can so they can profit from it cause you to discontinue a place of true discussion. Facebook is a lousy place to truly discuss anything or get to know anyone. I have wanted so badly to be engaged with fans of other bands as well and Facebook is the only outlet. And it's a lousy one. It doesn't work. Places like this one and the offical BBS are important to the hard core fans. The fact that someone isn't asking on a weekly basis, "What is your favorite Tom Petty song?" like in groups on FB is reason enough to keep this "old fashioned" method of commuciation going.
  2. Does anyone know how to buy tickets?
  3. Have been listening to the station on-line and they said to be listening Saturday for info how to pledge to get tickets and that they will be doing random announcements throughout the pledge drive. So we can all relax a little bit, at least until Saturday.
  4. I ran into this on the KLOS website trying to find any info on the interview broadcast: Tom Petty Damn the Torpedoes Documentary Due in August Damn the Torpedoes, the third album by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, will be the subject of an upcoming installment of the Classic Albums DVD series. Classic Albums: Damn the Torpedoes arrives August 3rd on both DVD and Blu-ray and features new interviews with Petty, The Heartbreakers and Jimmy Iovine, who co-produced the album. It will set you back about 15 dollars for the DVD and five bucks more for the Blu-ray. Damn the Torpedoes came out in 1979 and proved to be Petty’s breakthrough, courtesy of the hits “Don’t Do Me Like That,” “Refugee” and “Here Comes My Girl.” Before the DVD arrives, Petty and the Heartbreakers will release their new disc, Mojo, on June 15th http://www.955klos.com/Article.asp?id=1824635&spid=28266

  6. ^if only it wasn't a Tuesday night. I have some FF miles saved for solo trip to NYC (sans hubby) but the vacation days are vaporizing rapidly.
  7. I definitely want to go to this one. I just wish it wasn't at the 2 worst venues in Southern California. The Honda Center is a huge echo chamber. I haven't been to The Forum since the mid 80's but I remember it was pretty bad too. The best things is that you don't want to be too close for this one. You want to be further back to really get to see the show and get the best sound. We saw the Dark Side of the Moon tour he did at Irvine Meadows. I was lucky enough to pull up seats in the loge section a few rows behind the sound board. The best seats in the house and much cheaper than down below.
  8. Wasn't Fanfire running it during the '08 tour? Even if they weren't, it's a lousy thing to do to break the commitments that were already made. I am trying to stay positive about all this, but it's not working.
  9. Does anyone else remember being told at one time their membership was being extended and NOT to renew because they were making changes? This is why I'm so upset. Not that I didn't renew before today, but because I didn't because they told me not to. I would have renewed before now if they hadn't said that.
  10. I'm glad to see Nick Hernandez on the list. We saw him last time we went there and have been wanting to see him again. Too bad it's only for 15 minutes. In an interesting cooincidence, I received an e-mail this morning for a pre-sale for a concert at the OC fair this summer. His band, Common Sense, is opening for Ziggy Marley.
  11. Are you sure at 9? The e-mail I got from Mozambique said 6-10. So does the website (under events). Or do they just not play until 9? Great music and good food. You can't go wrong!
  12. I'm not a big fan of The Who, but this I would love to see. I love Pete's rock operas!
  13. My Dad has one of those. I can't help but think the comment that Slash had it put in in case he relapses was made up by the writer. (notice I did not call the person a journalist). But I'm sure enough coke in a lifetime would mess up your heart enough to eventually need one.
  14. No question, It Might Get Loud. I haven't even seen it yet but I know I will love it.
  15. I finally rounded up all the Christmas CD's and found out the Miles Davis tune is on the Hipsters Holiday disc. Another reason it's my favorite one.
  16. I had a dream last night about seeing a supergroup with these guys and one other great guitarist. Unfortunately, I don't remember who the fourth was. Maybe it was Mike The part I remember the best is I had a conversation with Jack White. I don't remember what we talked about, but I do remember the question I wanted to ask him, but didn't want to look like a dork fan. "How does it feel when people call you a genius?"
  17. That is the Celtic one on my list. I guess we will be listening to that one a lot now
  18. Thank you so much Beth. I would like to visit again next year and have been trying to decide when. I would love to see the city this time of year. I'm really looking forward to your 5th ave window pics!
  19. Nope. I have it on a compilation. We have CD's stacked all over the family room. I'm going to have to go through them and reorganize so that I can find it.
  20. It's on my Amazon wishlist, but I might have to take it off and order it myself just to make sure I get it as soon as possible
  21. My favorites, beginning with my absolute favorite desert island disc: 1. Hipsters Holiday- it has Santa Baby sung by Ertha Kitt, my favorite christmas song 2. A Celtic one that I don't remember the name of. It is very long, with half traditional Celtic holiday music and half traditional Christmas carols. 3. A Charlie Brown Christmas 4. Hawaiian Slack Key Christmas 5. Blue Yule 6. A jazz compilation one that has Blue Xmas (To Whom It May Concern) by Miles Davis. The CD must be out of print because I can't see to find it on Amazon. That was one of the only songs I liked on it. It's a cynical view of the modern day Christmas. I actually have a pretty big collection of Christmas CD's. I don't know how it happened. I ran into a Willie Nelson one my Mom gave me (oops, I mean Santa) in my stocking last year that I never even opened. I'm going to have to check it out this year.
  22. Make sure you have a lot of time for the Lennon exhibit. You could easily spend the whole day there. There is so much video it's overwhelming.
