video is up on youtube!   I like the updated lyrics but its not acoustic as I was led to believe.    Not a fan of the cheesy video effects but I'm happy to hear something new!

great articel! Thanks for sharing it.  I was surprised to read this part of it:
as I thought Ryan said the "All the rest" album was sequenced they way he and Tom had finalized it...   we'll probably never know...

Many new nuggets about Wildflowers and All the Rest in this comprehensive article: https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/three-years-after-tom-petty-e2-80-99s-death-his-dream-project-finally-emerges/ar-BB196t4Q

    Dig this:
    https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/the-flaming-lips-american-head/
"In sharp contrast to the Lips’ recent adventures in fairytale fantasias, American Head finds its inspiration in an arcane piece of Oklahoma musical lore. After revisiting the Tom Petty documentary Runnin’ Down A Dream following the rock legend’s 2017 death, Lips ringleader Wayne Coyne became fixated with the story of Petty’s pre-Heartbreakers band, Mudcrutch, with whom Petty spent time in Tulsa in the early-’70s en route to L.A. From that anecdote, Coyne and multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd envisioned American Head as a work of speculative fiction, reimagining the Lips as the sort of drugged-out local Oklahoman rock band that might’ve hung out and jammed with a pre-fame Petty while he was passing through town."

In other news, turns out the earth is flat, and the moon landing was also a hoax.  Every news agency and health organization in the world are lying about the hundreds of thousands of deaths.  How could we be so stupid to believe Covid19 is real?  The geniuses that created this global hoax must really be raking in the money now, huh?

You could always move over to the official Tom Petty forum?  It's been opened up to all with no subscription fee any longer.  Better than the cesspool that is Facebook.

    A few quick thoughts.
Again, thanks for sharing this dylanfree.
    1) This was one of the most enjoyable TPATH recordings I've heard,
    2) Something Ain't Right remains the best song or jam on there, maybe they'll find another version fully recorded amidst their sprawl of tapes.
    3) I was surprised how often the tape stopped considering Zollo's book where Tom mentions tape always going. Perhaps so many dropped tracks were the reason for it and all this predates that rule.
    4) Even the stuff that was silly, fun little moments were enjoyable.
    5) This is the first time we've seen behind the curtain aside from things like "I'm Dumb." And it shows a whole other side of the band that is great. There's no denying their live skill as musicians but with the pressure of an audience to please this side of the band never made an appearance, not on big tours or even residencies. Would a whole show of this, let alone tours be desirable? I don't think so but it's a shame, in my opinion that this energy was worked more into the band's concerts. Moot now.
    6) There's anothe riff, maybe Pleasure Train (?) where at the end Tom says it wasn't good and Ryan agrees. I disagree, that was a great riff and could've been turned into a good song.
    7) Ryan's got a good radio voice.
This has been the most fun release or "release" from TPATH since HE. I'm glad we got to hear it and hope they continue to be this free wheeling with recordings like this, maybe they don't think anyone other than hardcore fans would want to hear it so there's no incentive to monetize it. Fine with me!
    What did everyone else think?
    cheers

This is what Ryan said initially, but just a few minutes ago he issued a correction:
I'm happy to report that the 5 disc CD and the 9 disc vinyl bought through the Tom Petty website WILL have download codes for "Finding Wildflowers" as well. Whatever configuration you buy will have downloads for the songs in that configuration. The downloads will be "standard" 320K mp3, from the 24 bit 44.1K "loud" digital master, 2464* Hi-Res FLAC from the high dynamic range 2496 digital files, and 2496 Hi-Res wav, from the same high dynamic range 2496 digital files.
*he corrected this in his next post: 2496

A little slice of heaven.  Windows rolled down, clear blue sky on a summer's day, a cool sea air breeze, and Kings Road playing loud.  It can't get much better than that...

Almost everybody I know listens to, and loves the band, and not just the hits.  Driving the Pacific Coast Highway in the summer with TPATHB blasting in the car is one of my favorite memories.  I should do that again.
Whether it's with family or friends, we always went to shows together, it became a huge event for us.  At the very last Hollywood Bowl show, we arrived long before the gates opened and were one of the first into the seating area when it opened.  For some reason before the show began, I told myself to take it all in, to look around and commit the sights and sounds to memory.  Here we are, nearly 3 years later, and I can still hear the crickets chirping in the background as Tom introduced the band.
I feel very fortunate to have spent my life around people with very similar musical interests to mine.  While we don't always agree on everything, it makes for some great, spirited conversations.
