Its amazing how people can garble, distort, or completely miss a message that is basically about peace, love, and respect.Although I also cringe when I think about some interactions I've had with certain evangelical / born again folks, I don't think those groups have a monopoly on obnoxiousness.
So true. The biggest a-holes I have to deal with are often New Age nutjobs. However, they don't tend to worry that every book or CD is going to lead to someone becoming demon-possessed. I have to wonder just how weak your faith must be, if listening to "Another One Bites The Dust" threatens your relationship with your Higher Power.

Remember that show where they put Amish kids with city kids in a house? That was interesting.I do respect that the Amish send their kids out in the world to see what's going on and then ask them to make a choice one way or the other. But it's too sad that choosing not to live the Amish life means your never see you family/friends again. That's a little harsh.
It depends on the sect- many Beachy Amish only shun if the person had already made their vows in the Amish church and then turned away. If you haven't made your vows in the church yet and decide to live among the English, partial or no shunning is often the case.

I forgot to mention that I hate camp songs. REALLY hate them. Everytime the counselors start in with that stupid Tarzan Rubber Band song, I am reminded of Wednesday Addams watching inspirational movies in that little happy hut, and I feel her pain.
