Just finished playing the Mass Effect Trilogy. Second game was great. Third game was, too, up until the last ten minutes. Yes, the ending is as terrible as everyone says it is. I'm just going to pretend it didn't happen.
  2. For some reason, I'm continually mishearing the one line in "A Thing About You" that goes "Lovers hold each other tight." Thus brings today's subject: Mondegreens. What lyrics have you misheard? A few of my own: American Girl Misheard Lyric: Microwaves crashing on the beach. (This one was obvious. The sheer absurdity of flaming microwave ovens crashing down like meteors made that obvious.) You Wreck Me Misheard Lyric: Erect me, baby! (Another rather obvious one...) A One Story Town Misheard Lyric: The spaceship comes down. (Well, it's slightly less absurd than microwave showers?) Stop Draggin' My Heart Around Misheard Lyric: You could never lick me in the eye. (Whoa! What do you get up to in your free time?) I'll post more later. Hand acting up.

Just finished playing Mass Effect. I liked it quite a bit. The gameplay was a bit janky at times (and there were a few glitches) but the writing was top-notch.

    New TPATH Releases

I have some rather profanity-laced chatlogs where I expressed dismay to a friend that the first newsletter that I received from the official site following Tom's death was this.

Plus, this is something that Tom wanted to put out. I just hope the Wildflowers box set doesn't go the way of Half-Life 3: stuck in hiatus so long that Valve seems almost afraid to touch it because there's no way it'll possibly live up to the expectations it built.

Yikes. This thing just gets messier and messier. Does anyone have a link to the PDF? I'd like to skim through it myself.

Plot twist: It's actually a polyamourous relationship.

    Music genres are confusing.

While cleaning up and sorting out my music folder, I noticed that music genres are weird. I was just throwing everything that wasn't game soundtracks or new wave stuff under "rock," but that's a really broad category. So I went to Discogs and MusicBrainz to see if I could split it up a bit more. But then that's just...confusing. An album I thought was clearly hard rock is actually "alternative metal." And I thought that "album rock" was a radio format. I guess I'll just keep putting everything under rock. Including the soundtracks and new wave stuff.

Okay, now I've gotten things back up. From the August 1986 edition of Guitar Player:

    Thoughts on Playback

I prefer headphones to speakers, honestly. I use Sony MDR-XD150, which is really only a budget pair but pretty solid. Aside from the ear-pad covering, which got worn down to the foam, it's still in great shape. Nice thick cables.

    "Best Of Everything" album released

I don't recall any of the lyrics bleeped out the one time I heard it. Before I realized that the censored songs were provided by the record label, I thought the guy who censored the songs at the radio station suffered from mood swings. The f-bomb was near-universally censored, but it seemed to be 50/50 on "shit" and once in a while mostly-innocuous words like "ass" would get censored.

I've heard it once on the radio, but it was around 3 a.m.

Nah. It's fun to talk about. You certainly didn't have to come in and read four pages of it.

    Thoughts on Playback

People use the original CDs? I always just rip the discs to FLAC, put the originals on the shelf, and then burn a copy of it. Better for the copy to get scratched than the original; I can just make another. Also, don't put CD-Rs in the microwave. I did once to see what would happen. Nice light show, but the kitchen smelled like burning plastic for a week.

What's your software of choice for playing music? I like foobar2000.

    Question of the Day: 02/27/19

I've gotten further opportunity to test it. I'm really quite impressed with it; it's got just as much flexibility (if not a bit more) than foobar2000. It also downloads artist pictures! There's also some other cool features, too, such as autoplaylists.
