  1. I try and go to the store full so I'm not tempted by the bags of chips, mountains of candy, and ice cream screaming my name. I may taste something when I'm buying bulk foods to determine if it's fresh.

Now I have this former roommate with the last name of Lawless. He lived up to it. He would go to Sun Harvest (like Wild Oats) and eat from the binds. Called it lunch. I can tell you stories. He would do situps so he could put meat down his pants (before I knew him). He would pour oil out of the cheap bottles and fill it with the best olive oils. I mainly heard the stories. The people working there would see him do it and he would smile at them and wink. When I saw him at the store I walked away from him. The only time he ever got caught, he talked his way out of it when the police took him away. He also moved to Germany with his Italian wife, faked a back injury, and collected disability for over a year. When I knew him he was separated from wife and lived under a tarp thrown over a jungle jim in the backyard.

    Can you say grifter?

  2. Christine graced this forum with her wit, humor, and kindness. Across thousands of miles, I could feel the warmth of her words and positive energy as she shared thoughts on many subjects. She and her style will be deeply missed.

I don't know if her sons or hubby will visit the farm again but if they do, they may want to read through her posts to learn how this community grew to love her.

  3. 1. Last laugh? Willy just walked in door after digging in the herb garden. He is covered in dirt and looks like he had a blast!

    2. What do you love? Life and all the great things that go with it....ie Barf Boy

    3. Gold or silver? yes please

    4. Who do you hold hands with? Barf Boy

    5. Friday fill-in: There's no time to finish my novel, knit, and do the things I want.

  4. Under all conditions, absolutely not! First I would have to clean like the dickens. Oh yeah! The pre-vacation clean. Then I would have to clear out all the sex toys, take the trapize down, hide all the rubber suits, and make sure the sado/masochistic whips and chains were put someplace where their children would not hurt themselves. I would have to hide all the crown jewels and stock certificates we have laying around the house. Frankly, it would be more work than it was worth. Then I would get to their house and wonder if they had cleaned. And I would spend the entire vacation looking for their toys and secrets.

  5. When I read the question, I thought it was most disgusting landmark as opposed to the most distinguishing landmark so....I have three - actually

Disgusting landmark -the over-tall Dariy Queen sing... The town made them lower it and passed an ordance on signs.

Distinguishing landmarks - Two win the prize!

Wimberley Market Days - 1st Saturday of each month - hundreds (maybe even a thousand) of vendors, music BBQ - all with proceeds of parking and meals to benefit social projects in town - sponsored by Lion's Club of Wimberley

Wimberely Blue Hole - one of the best swimming holes in the state. Sold several years back and now a nature preserve with local funding and TX Parks and Wildlife. Open to public for $5/person during summer. Man, oh, man - a 72 degree dip in the river on a 98 degree day - Remarkable!

  6. When I was young my dad was often gone with work....in those oilfields way back home....so then it was my mom. As daddy rose on the corporate ladder he was home more often and so could participate in dicipline. That's when I wished he were gone more. When he got involved, my brother and I got scared!

  7. I'm enjoying reading where everyone grew up!

    1. Describe where you grew up: called a bedroom community of Corpus Christi, TX - Portland, TX. A small town of 7000 with the elementary school across the street - a block from the beach and about 12 miles from Port Aransas. Like Nancy, we had a street full of kids and we played well into the night. Sometimes set a tent up in the backyard and slept outside. Heat, heat and more heat with all the humidity you can handle. While you northerners were ice stating, we would ride our bikes around collecting discarded Christmas trees (left for trash pickup after Christmas) to store in our fort. There were be kiddie block wars as we stole each others trees. This would continue until school started back - winner had the most trees. Another activity was to head down to beach for some mud-sliding on the dunes. We had one dune (mix of sand and clay) that formed a natural slide. We would haul water up from the bay to turn the slide to a slick, clay mud and spend the day sliding down. Always meant some torn jeans by the time done.

    2. Do you wear any jewelry? My wedding ring, earrings, and a dimond drop that was my grandmothers.

    3. What do you have too much of? certainly not time - so will go with pounds as that's the easiest to obsess on and the hardest to work on

    4. Who is a fool? we all be fools in one way or another

    5. What's your nickname? it's hard to rhyme with Kira..........a few people call me Kira--bonga or a Spanish version of Kira.
