I think everyone else has said it better than I can. For his last semester in nursing school, Barf Boy worked at the county hospital in Austin. I can tell you I would not like to be poor or uninsured based on the stories he has told. Not to be confusing, the quality of care is equal once within the hospital (about 95% of time). It's having to wait until one is sick enough for emergency care that blows. The story that sticks with me is the mother of three with kidney failure that has to wait until she is so toxic that she calls ems for transportation to hospital and free dyalsis. Nobody else will provide it. She stays in hospital for a week and then out until she is too toxic to function again. While private companies must provide some charity cases, the wait lists are long.

Early, early, early!!

Interesting to read what others wrote. Any offense taken usually depends on the spirit of the incident rather than the incident itself. I am highly offended when I am paying hard earned money for something only to have to stand in long lines, be treated shabbily by those working there, or in some (any) way given a hard time. I like money leaving my hands in a friendly fashion.

Yes I had them and no I would not want them again. They were certainly a dating deterrant. I had them on until I was a sophmore in college.

How big is the stage? Nope! Up it to 100K, a small stage, and a fifth of good tequillia - then we'll see what happens.

The first step in war is to dehumanize the other party. It's much easier to slaughter, rape, and kill if the person is less than human anyway. Religion is an easy out to amplify the differences. That said, religion is a system of beliefs that explain why we are here and the purpose of existance - a method to give meaning to life and hope for the unanswered question of death. These are universial needs as shown by the strong faith. If there were no religion, the collective void would be too great and there would be another issue around which people gathered (maybe the oil god). We would fight about that as well.

Big fan in their day. They put on great shows - saw them twice. Liked the way they built the music on albums.

Hey WillyBilly Wood. Now I'm thinking about you! Before you made me laugh so hard I was thinking about the order of my day. Put clothes in dryer and then head to Curves. Pick up some stuff for Barf Boy. Go to parent's house and help mom with food prep for tomorrow. Barf Boy needs to be seriously nagged. I also need to tease the puppies. I think that's going to cover it. Oh! I'm thinking I have a blessed life.

As smart as my peersI consider my co-workers, family and friends (including Farmers) as my peers.
For the general population, the more time goes by, I feel like a fucking genius!
Hahahaahha. You crack me up!!!!

I had such a crush on Jim from MoO Wild Kingdom when I was a kid. He could do anything!

I'm on the road so much I like being at home when in town. Barf Boy is the one who gets me out of the house. My perfect day is a weekend (usually Sunday) when I never leave the property.

I'm so glad you're ok. Sometime they seem to jump in front or on the side of the car like deer on a death wish. I see them on my to work most mornings. They love the crisp, cooler days of Fall. Also, it's rutting season and they tend to move around more when looking for a mate.

It depends on the peer group. I work with heavy hitters in the education field and consider myself a little dumber (sometimes lots dumber) than those peers - especially the researchers. I feel equal to my friends. In moments of grandour, I feel superior - only to be kicked back to stupid by some some comment or by self-reflection.

I love to go to bed early in the winter months. That can mean 8:30. November is the hardest month when it comes to staying up late.

I have VHS and cassettes.

I'm still working on narrative non-fiction of Craig Childs tracing migration patterns of Anatazi exit of the Southwest. http://www.houseofrain.com/
I usually am reading several things at once. Otherwise I continue revising my own novel, "River Without Innocence" I am sending query letters to agents for representation. To toot my own work here is my pitch:
Witness a world-class adventure spiral into hedonistic, mean-spirited, ego-obsessed emotional carnage. A wilderness rafting trip through the Grand Canyon turns sour as friends share a ride that will change their lives forever.
Sixteen seemingly close friends converge on the banks of the Colorado River to begin a 226 mile private rafting trip, and the Grand Canyon rapids seem calm compared to the alcoholism, abuse, mental illness, and infidelity that haunt the group as they live and die a mile below the rim. Lindsey hopes to begin a family. Her husband, Mike, bored with routine, seeks excitement. Summer, rejected by her mother, begins her new life with a father she has seen during vacations. He doesn’t know how to deal with her overt sexuality. Samantha and David engage in marital warfare. Tina’s alcoholism becomes apparent as Aaron’s bi-polar mood swings keep everyone guessing. The river keeps coming, and the malcontents must deal as best they can. Rafting is difficult when working as a team, but with raft-slashing and back-stabbing, it’s difficult to know who will make it out alive.

Touchy subject - all you lucky people with dishwashers. I can be gone most of the week and Barf Boy has had his dishes "soaking" for three days. By that time, the water is cold and goopy and I hate to even put my hand in to drain the sink. Then I do them.

Nope, I got one years ago and was sick for three days. Haven't had the flu in 20+ years so I'm playing the odds.

i remember the days - we all sat glued watching Fleetwood Mac's
Gipsy - remember what's her name turning round and round in the garden with her hat?
not Christine McVie ... but the other one

Never unless I am in a city. I will use buses and subways and taxis when I don't need to drive much.
