We have been in a personal recession for years with Barf Boy in school and building house on credit cards and out of pocket. He starts working on Jan 19th as a nurse so we're be getting a jolt of cash inflow as we become dinks - (duel income, no kids)

I agree with Liz and Magnolia - those good looking, older men who have just hiked into the wilderness with the misses on first day of retirement and ready to have a go in the woods, lake, mountain..........just lay down that sweater wrapped around your neck and take her.......doesn't work for me. So as soon as women stop worrying about accidential pregnancy (also lots of commercials regarding finding out if pregers or birth control) the men have to worry about penial dysfunction.

Do you all remember when Larry Haggman flew to the top of the list? Both he and Mickey Mantel were able to get organs (liver or kidney - I forget now) when they learned they were ill. I remember there being controversy over weather those of wealth could buy their way to the top of the list. Then there was all this whoopla over the abusive lifestyles each had led so were they entitled to the organ. For me, it was not that you look at the lifestyle and history of abuse. I equally don't think it right that money is going to get someone an organ faster at the expense of someoe who needs it as badly and has waited a year to rise to the top of the list.

Certainly - it would allow me to focus on writing. Plus, it seems like the older we get, the less we see each other -teen kids, parents needing assistance, increased work loads and some moving away all add to less contact than in previous years.

I'm optomistic about some areas and not so much in others. I'm especially upbeat about the change in administration. The economy - not so much. Life in general at my house is good - so upbeat about personal life for the upcoming year

I think there will be pressure from the US and Cuba population living here to become democratic. Who knows what the future holds?

I grew up calling it a coke. Now I say soda or call the drink by name. My grandparents from Oklahoma called it a pop or sody pop. Barf Boy's family from Iowa uses pop. I love regional dialect information. It's dying out with media and people moving. Do you say sofa, couch, divan, davenport or some other word to describe that long piece of furniture in your living room?

All in all it was a great year. I look forward to next year and so much to be thankful for. Relic, will you send dubya one of those finger things after he leaves? should keep him busy for a while

Going to a party. Some friends of friends rented out an old western saloon at this ranch/resort/camp and will have a music jam. I'm excited because Barf Boy has been so focused on school and has not met many local muscians to play with.
