  2. OK, got Barf Boy's nursing schedule and he works Thrusday and Friday nights 7 pm to 7 am and then Monday days. That means absoulutly NO time for long weekend getaways. He's says it's only for a month but who knows. All the new nurses got much better schedules than him. He's mister easy-going and won't ask him to change it and damn----I wanted him to come to San Diego with me next month.

Now Connie - huge applause for your 2 pounds. Always hard to do and especially when you have had windchills 50 below. Crap! In regards to your hubby - kick him in the ass! Not really but it pisses me off to know of what you do for Grif and him being such a drag (literally). My heart throughts go out to you.

  3. Seems as if the weather is a safe topic. And it depends on if it's work or fun. Work is where I meet most new people (part of the job) and I usually start talking with them about their school.

For fun, this may be wierd but usually some way to establish connection. Do we know someone in common - it's a small world? Like we went to a party of New Year's where we only knew on person and she was not there. So the few people I talked to - we run with the same people but have always missed meeting each other before.

  4. Truth is I'm pretty damn happy today. Sitting at the airport about to head south (yes! going to South Padre Island to work for a few days) Barf Boy is working as a nurse. The country has a new pres and I'm thrilled. People are hopeful! I'll find this post when things get bad. I am saddened to learn about everyone's health concerns. Square one I hope things work out well for your mother.

  5. He would likely be please with tomorrow's events. There is still a long way to go on race relations. On an individual level - it's better as young people these days don't seem to notice or care about keeping friendships/relationships along race lines.

Among races and ethnicities - there are still issues of equitity that have not been erased or worked out. Until the country finds a way to redistribute wealth from 5% owning over 90% of the country's weath - traslated into so much poverty with high populations being from minority groups, we will still have issues.

I am hopeful for the new president, firmly believe that education is the best route out of poverty, and am eager to see his education policy. My reality is I see current race issues as poverty issues.

  6. 1. When is the last time you became unraveled? At a conference in Houston this week. All the projectors were locked in a room and the presentors wanted to set up. It took the hotel 20 minutes to come unlock the door

    2. What's the longest trip you've taken? By air, Corpus Christi to Singapore. By car, a 6000 mile, two week road trip

    3. Who is the biggest distraction in your life? I am likely my biggest distraction

    4. Do people notice you when you walk into a room? They do when I'm the speaker and they want something from me

    5. Describe the last time you disappointed someone: Last night a friend called at 7:30 and wanted me to come to an impromtu party. She was teasing me saying I had an hour until my bedtime.

  7. The article sites no abuse but that they have known of the family for years. In looking at the picture of the kids, the first question that came to my mind was no abuse and two are teens. Why was this done now and not when they were younger? Most CPS agencies have limited budgets of what children to take and these kids are low risk. I can't account for poor taste on the parental part, but is it a good use of limited resources?

  8. Call me old fashioned but the fact is I would much rather talk on the phone and my number one pick is to talk with someone in person. Frankly, here is the judgemental part, with that much texting, is the person thinking that his/her thoughts are all worthy of someone else knowing them? Is there any filtering of ideas or for that matter, further development of ideas taking place beyond what is written on the text?

    I guess I certainly don't "get it".
