1. Does the rain make you feel blue? Love the rain and being on rain water collection for all house need, appreciate every drop 2. Do you find that rain ruins or improves your day? It makes driving more difficult through the hills. It can drip around here and traffic is a mess. 3. Have you ever danced/splashed/played in the rain? Certainly 4. What do you like to do on rainy days? Write 5. Do you save for "rainy days"? I wish!

I was hitting the road for ACT; the same as I am doing today. Extracting self from a marriage to a bi-polar, unmedicated, alcoholic who had turned my life upside down. Now happily married to taa-daa: The Newly Board Certified RN - Barf Boy!

The other thought I had was maybe you were in the building to find the man there by accident who motivated you towards this conversation. That could be an example of devine intent. If so, lucky you!

The question I hear besides the god question is how does one balance one's passion against the need to earn cash for bills. That is tougher when one's passion (art) is low to no wage earning and a skill set different from the wage earning skill set. As a former career counselor, this is often an issue. I would suggest you think about ways to blend to two. For example, could you find a way to market your bookkeeping services to stuggling artists? This would put you in a community of like-minded people and motivate your artistic aspirations. That's only an example. It also sounds as if you are exploring options to cut back on expenses so you can devote more time to art. Can you find additional time to work on art...ie wake up at 4:00 am when your space is quiet. It's hard to find the "me" time. When I have written here about "The Year of Kira" that began with my 48th birthday, it's because I came to the realization that if I want to follow my passion (a serious push at writing a novel) that I mean to claim the time I need. I also need to put the cash towards the goal. That may mean (in a house that has only a wood burning stove for heat) that central air and heat get put off.........as do the thousands (not to mention the do-it-yourself time) needed for other serious projects. Not meaning to turn this into about me, but passion and dreams require sacrifice and a hard look at priorities. Sounds as if you looked at expenses.......sometimes time allocations need a serious overhaul too. I'm reminded of the John Lennon lyric.....life is what happens when you're busy making other plans. It's your life, and in the end, are you going to be satisfied with your choices?

Yes, I believe there in a god. I also believe messages come to us (usually not in the way we ask) and we have to be open to hear the message. Depending on your age, I can suggest two books (more if you like) that deal with the topic of intent of the devine. If you are 40 or younger I would read "The Red Book". See both books below. I think the red book is good for an older group too, it's just that Sara focuses her attention on younger women. I remember years ago listening to Victor Frankal (sp) at Evolution of Psychotherapy conference. He wrote: "Man's Search for Meaning - From Concentration Camp to Existenialism (also a suggested read). Someone in the group asked him Dr. Frankel, How do you know there is a god? He said, It is so simple. People have a thirst and there is water. Nobody would have a thirst if there was no water. (or something very similar). I thought holy shit, it is that easy because I had been struggling with the concept of god at the time. Other people think this begs the question. The desire to find meaning to life is part of the collective drive of people. To some degree, most of us have that desire. Why would that be such a universal drive if there was nothing behind it? The Red Book: A Deliciously Unorthodox Approach to Igniting Your Divine Spark (Paperback) by Sera J. Beak (Author) "So how the hell do you start igniting your divine spark?..." (more) Over 40, I would suggest Remember, Be Here Now by Ram Dass (Paperback - Oct 12, 1971)

1. What's the longest time you've spent standing? Standing at a no-chair Bob Dylan. Stood about 6 hours 2. How many people on Mudcrutch Farm know your real name? I guess everyone. It's Kira cause I'm bad with names so I don't expect people to remember two names for me. 3. What makes you afraid? Dogs barking in the middle of the night, heights, stopping at convience stores after dark, walking in a city alone, the thoughts that come in my head when I'm alone........lots of things.......thanks so much - mother! She put the fear of "someone's going to grab you" in my head early. 4. What's the worst physical injury you've had? A sprained ankle 5. What line won't you cross? that dark line in my mind

Home Depot. There is still so much work to do on the house.

The one I saw last night, Linda, detailed Lincoln's shortcomings as well as his accomplishments. He popularity gained only after his death.

Working on novel and at home with honey!
-
Last night was a show on Lincoln and the night before on Darwin. Based on that information, I'd say Darwin.

Have a great day. Celebrate fof a week when you get back to LA.

Good idea Wild One! Yep, I rather take the camper and make stops along the backroads.

It depends on the context of the situation. I dislike when people want to know just to know.......in the same vein of people wanting to know how much I paid for something. Tacky!

I'm going to agree with above statements. Some people are more resilent than others and can take a negative experience and use it to make better choices, improve life quality or whatever. Others could have a similiar experience, become a victim of it, and stay stuck in the victim role

It's a week long party. Last birthday I declared it my birthday year and I would focus on me and spend money on me. I think I'll take next year too. Now, before you think that is too vain, it's really not. The year of Kira means that I take time for the things that are important and seem to be placed on hold by the mundane or other events such a mate's school, social obligations, house cleaning, laundry. Those things can fill a day or a weekend...........and life passes so quickly. Birthdays are celebration but also a time to reevaluate where life's priorities are placed.

Lots of Leos here. Make room for another. Yes, it fits me. I read them when they are around. The fave ex-hubbie gave me a reading for my 40th bday - his neighbor does them. It was straight on.

5. If you could come back to life as a dog, would you? Why or why not? No! I don't want to be facinated with licking my own butt!
-
1. Are you a dog or cat person? Dog person. I've had two cats but many dogs 2. Do you have a dog? Have you ever had a dog? Currently three. There is Willy the mighty Maltise, Scary Harry Larry - a collie mix who appeared at the last place we lived, and Midget Mikey - the hellbent chichuchua that we chased in the road for two hours on our country street to save from coyotes. He bit me and we had to observe him for rabies. I have had dogs all my life and each lives in a special place in my heart. 3. What is your favorite breed of dog? I am partial to golden retrievers and maltises. That said I love all the friendly puppies. 4. Do you believe that dogs truly are man's best friend? Yes, I could not imagine a life without puppies. They add so much flavor to life. 5. If you could come back to life as a dog, would you? Why or why not? Only in a good home

I don't like them buzzing around me or landing on my soda can. They can have most of the space around the house but need to maintain a five inch distance from head and body. They seem to have no regard for personal space.

I'm pretty dang happy. Feel life is blessed but for icing on the cake............. publish my novel more time (in the sense that life is rushing by so quickly) Feeling the BIG 50 coming around the corner

I'm Kira. I use my real name because I remember it. I live in beautiful Wimberley, Texas with Barf Boy as the last and fave husband, 3 dogs, and one parrot - Sinbad - who has been an accomplice for 22 years. I work therefore I am..... With Barf Boy now working as a nurse, I hope to change my work situation - like stop it but will take a while yet. When not running the roads helping school districts improve instruction by use of data from a nationaly normed, curriculum-based achievement test that predicts one's performance in core postsecondary classes - or take the ACT College Entrance Exam, I aspire to write fiction. I am currently working with an advising editor on my novel, aka - book doctor, and have been diagnosed with a total rewrite. Stay tuned---I will be published even if I'm photocopying and sending it to farmers. I don't know how many times I've seen TP&HB - 3 this year and one Mudcrutch. First show was when he was with Bob Dylan. Every year I saw I'll just go to one show but ........ when tickets go on sale.............I can't control myself. And it's a very anxious time.
