Sometimes I wonder if being the son of a HOFer the way Darian is might make things extra difficult -
People will quite naturally compare him to Mike, comment on his playing style, etc. (as I have in those photos and my writings in this thread)
I guess I wanted to say that while Darian looks like a younger Mike, and shares some elements of his playing style, I would not say that he is a Mike clone - Darian absolutely has his own sound and style (even after only one live listening experience this is clear to me) and so I am very interested in hearing this band perform live again and learning more about these great musicians, and getting to experience their sound and style.
Once again, through following various Heartbreakers and their projects, we have been introduced to and 'discovered' yet another great group of musicians and a 'new' band. Its funny (and wonderful) how that happens. So many musical roads - all cross-connected and interwoven. You start out along one path and discover so much more through the course of the journey.
Great stuff, and more to come!

I posted a link to a story like this several years ago.
This is getting strange, we appear to have a serial pianist on our hands.
Can Benmont account for his whereabouts?
Here is the older link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2006/may/17/arts.artsnews1
"
Piano found on Britain's highest mountain
The piano was recovered at the weekend by 15 volunteers from the John Muir Trust, the conservation charity which owns part of Ben Nevis.
The squad was removing litter and stones called cairns from the summit plateau when they spotted the top of the piano.
"Our guys couldn't believe their eyes," said trust director Nigel Hawkins.
"At first they thought it was just the wooden casing but then they saw the whole cast iron frame complete with strings.
"The only thing that that was missing was the keyboard - and that's another mystery.
"Maybe it's hidden somewhere else on the mountain."
He added that a biscuit wrapper with a best before date of December 1986 was found under the piano, giving a clue as to when it was taken there, but not why.
Volunteer group organiser Sandy Maxwell, of Glasgow, said this was the largest, heaviest and most unusual object they had found on the mountain.
"We have a constant battle against litter being left on Britain's highest mountain - but this elevates being a litter lout sky high into a completely different category. We are now trying to track down who took it there..."

What kind of cookies (biscuits) does Benmont like? LOL!

The lighting on your pics is incredible, Relic !Thank the Club for the excellent lighting, and of course thanks to the performers for putting up with the lights being turned up higher than normal.
(In fact, I couldn't believe how great the lighting was, since its always been very difficult there before. Both SOhO and Joe's Joint have been remodled somewhat over the last year!)

I sent it to Lizzie, hoping she can distribute it as required since I don't have everyone's email addresses.

OK here are two shots - the left is Mike Campbell taken back in 2006 at the Blue Cafe in Long Beach.
On the right you have Darian Campbell taken last Friday at SOhO.

-
A couple more of Dave singing his brains out

And you can see Darian in the background in this one too

Peace

I'm lovin' it Pettyjunkie! I especially love that last shot - that is one IMPORTANT guitar. Some would consider it a holy relic!
If someone came up with a rock and roll trivia game, I could see using that photo and asking who's guitar that was. The wear on the neck is a dead giveaway!
-
I love the pictures Relic.Especially the one with Randall right behind me, despite me being a bit blurry

Sorry about the blur, it was so dark in the audience I couldn't get everything in focus at once.... (I felt like a TMZ paparazzi when I took that shot as it is LOL!)

Michael tells me that he is in the midst of upgrading his web farm hardware and some people may intermittently experience broken links until the upgrade is complete.
Once upgrades are complete, hosting should be more stable, but things are back up now (knock on wood).

Keep your hats on (Especially YOU Dave!)

Ill call my brother in law in a few - He and his wife saw a show last night and I didn't want to roust 'em out of bed too early.
"Hey Michael, I blew up your web server.... Oh, by the way, good morning! LOL!"
-
Sorry folks, looks like my brother in laws server is offline at the moment. The pictures should be back shortly.
(The Knobs want to blow up their stereo, I'm working on blowing up my brother in law's web server instead!)

I also remember them performing 'Little Deuce Coupe' which was a treat! I think it was Matt hitting the high notes and Lance singing baritone. I'm sure I probably forgot a song or two as well.
It was a very special night, and we didn't get out of there until very late - One of the best shows I can ever remember. The sound was phenomenal, SoHo has made some improvements in the club since the last time I was there and the club was looking better than ever. Both bands were selling t-shirts, and we picked up one of each and a Romeo Delta CD. Funny thing is, I scored one of the original DK t-shirts when they unexpectedly found some and brought them to the Cozy's gig to sell.
I bought my Dirty Knobs t-shirt from Dave Glowacki, never expecting that I'd be rocking out to his band and buying their t-shirt some day!
-
Dave on vocals and tambourine when he wasn't playing guitar. (The way he carried himself on stage really reminded me of Eddie Vedder)

-
Matt Laug on the drums.

Lance Morrison (and Matt Laug obstructed behind the drum kit)

Jason Sinay (And Mike in background)

Mike Campbell

Another shot of Darian

I have shots of Mike taken from similar angles and the resemblance is uncanny! Maybe Ill put two shots together if I can find just the right photos.
I can hear some of Mike in Darian's playing - or should I say that his technique (which seems very precise) reminds me of Mike. I wonder if Darian got extra nervous when performing since his family was there? Every kid's nightmare - having your parents critique your performance! LOL! Hall of famer parents.
Nightmare!

Well, what can you say? Romeo Delta nailed it. Big time.
-
Dave and Tom (Sorry about the Blur, they were moving awfully fast!)

-
Feel Better soon Lizzie! Good to be home in your own bed again I hope!
-
I think it was Mike who commented at one point in the performance that the lights were turned up pretty high (shining in the performers faces).... They turned the lights down at the end of the night.
SoHo was packed - people crowded the stage as Romeo Delta started and it remained that way until long after the Knobs encore - folks were really enjoying the music!
I crept around as best I could to get the best angles, and really appreciate how folks gave me a chance to sneak down low up front and capture these images. I got what I could without disturbing the audience members unduly, but I missed so many moments - I'm sure we'll be seeing other Farmer's photos soon!
(You should have seen me shoveling down dinner in-between acts. The meal timing was all wrong and the food showed up just as Romeo Delta took the stage. I pretty much had to dislocate my jaws and swallow the meal whole - like a snake. LOL!)
Ill post more images as I can - Thank you to everyone for such a great evening of music and for allowing photography too! SoHo, Romeo Delta and The Dirty Knobs rock!
-
^ He was standing in the Farmer section

-
Randall Marsh was spotted in the audience

-
David Rawlings sat in with the Knobs for several songs - here he is (with a very out of focus Mike Campbell in the foreground).

Teen Rockers Sentenced to Listen to Manilow Music
in Anything That's Rock N Roll

Here you go - another example of a 'moral rights' conundrum
Does the artist (Barry in this case) have a right to object to this kind of usage of his work? In this case it is being used to 'torture' people, or at the very least punish them.
Hopefully he's just laughing this off.....
And then again, what if someone got busted blasting Barry's music in the first place?
Judge: "I sentence you to endure 1000 replays of 'I sing the songs'
Defendant: "Cool!"
Judge: "In that case what music do you really really really dislike?"
Defendant: "Is that like asking me to go get something so you can beat me with it?"
I guess if you have a wide taste in music, you can play your stereo as loud as you want in that town!
