  1. Actually Tara, the reason your shipping info was included was that you are the LUCKY 100th ticket buyer! [cue happy award music] Thhaaaaaaaaaaaaat's right! Youuuuuuuuv've won your very own Dirty Knob! The band, ever so thankful for the support of their adoring fans, decided to surprise you, the 100th ticket buyer, by sending a REAL LIVE DIRTY KNOB to you, in a padded box (with air holes) to play with, as you see fit, (subject to reasonable decorum, spousal approvals, etc.) , provided that you deliver said Knob, in working condition and free of additional nasty habits, to Cozy's, in time for their next gig. Signature is required upon delivery so please be present. Be sure to read and adhere to the Knob care and feeding instructions (attached to box), and remember that Knobs tend to be nocturnal, and require daily exercise and grooming. (Consult your Vet in an emergency).
  2. I had to shut down my web browser and restart it to see the page after it changed to show the knobs tickets. Heads up.
  3. Athena and I have tickets - trying to schedule our Thursday to make being there possible.... crossing fingers..... If there are any music lovers out there who are sitting 'on the fence' and have not seen the Watkins Family Hour, trust me, you want to make the effort to see this. May be habit forming.
  4. Do you have javascript disabled? The direct link to the purchase page http://grandentertainment.info/purchase.htm seems pretty benign. Nothing exceptional in the source. Nothing fancy. Something's jacked up on your system methinks if your browser can't render the page.
  5. I just checked (6:07 PM California time, Monday Dec 8th) and the site is working but tickets are not yet on sale for the Romeo Delta / DK gigs. I tried a couple of times yesterday night (and this morning) and sometimes the purchase tickets link would hang (fail to connect) on a windows machine using Firefox, so it may be that there is nothing wrong with your computer / connection and they just happened to be updating the site at the time you tried to access it.
  6. Hey everyone, just wanted to offer a quote from Almost Famous: "Ive seen the future and this all turns out moderately well" (Spoken by one of the Band Aids to William Miller) Its all going to be OK You're going to be able to get tickets once they go on sale provided that you don't dilly dally and get to it early. Things went smoothly last time once the tickets finally went on sale (well, I think maybe you had to buy them one at a time for a little while, till they remembered to allow people to buy two at once LOL! but other than that it was easy and simple online). Its seemed a little hectic up to now but soon we can all get back to focusing on enjoying the music (oh yea, don't forget holidays too!). Peace

  8. Source: http://www.ktla.com/content_landing_page/?Flashing-Girls-Prompt-Disneyland-to-Can-=1&blockID=154946&feedID=1080 " ANAHEIM -- Disneyland management has fired the four actors who played pirate Jack Sparrow because officials were worried about young female park-goers flashing the swashbuckling actors late at night, according to one former cast member. "They lost control when they saw Jack Sparrow," said former pirate Brandon Pinto, who left the role after a dispute with management a year ago. "This is a sexy, rock-star pirate." The pirate actors said they were told they were no longer needed for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride at about the same time that additional fairies were added to the park's cast, presumably to promote Disney's new movie "Tinkerbell." Disneyland recently opened "Pixie Hollow" to capitalize on the new movie. Disney denies that they pirates were replaced by Tinker Bell fairies." Johnny's got it even when he's not Johnny! Some guys get all the girls.....
  9. Mike playing at Cozy's last year.... Jason from the same night
  10. Geeze - 2 hours of firmware updates. Keying in the network info using the remote was painful.
  11. Ugh! That sucks..... If its any consolation.... here is a true story.... I had looked forward to my 21st birthday for a long time - and as it turned out it was on a friday, which was really cool.... So the day approached and my Network Analysis professor (Professor Fontana who was a real hard ass and always complained that we were 'dissipating our lives on rock and roll') suddenly announced a 3 hour Saturday midterm exam! It was unheard of. And what a bitch, it was on the morning after my 21st b-day. So all day Friday I dodged my friends who wanted to take me out bar hopping.... I stayed glued to the books and moped around the apartment... Finally at around 10 PM or so I reluctantly agreed to let my buddy take me out to the elephant Bar in Goleta for ONE BEER. In we walked and I sauntered up to the bar... ordered a beer and while I waited for the barmaid to return I started looking around. Two bar stools to my right sat Professor Fontana. So I kinda hid behind my beer as I gulped it down and got the hell out of there. Never knew if he saw me or not.... It was like an ambush! The next morning I walked in and aced the test. Then I went to a store and bought a six-pack of beer. Ripe with anticipation I walked up to the guy at the register clutching the evil six pack. Man, I was ready to whip out that ID and give him a big grin..... He didn't even card me. Maybe Mike will play on your 21st?
  12. I wonder how long it will take to completely re-wire that system, update all the firmware and install the new software? Its gonna be a long night......
  13. I'm sure all these directors and producers are thrilled to be nominated. And I'm also guessing none of them ever imagined that if they were nominated, they would be competing with Peter Bogdanovich LOL! Its a damn shame that there can only be one award... I cant pick between three of 'em. No telling how this one turns out. But if RDAD does win, I think everybody in the fan club should get ANOTHER copy of the Runnin' Down a Dream coffee table book sent to them!
  14. As I recall they made really good margaritas there last time. (Funky glass though, I got salt on my nose LOL!) That was a really cool night.
  15. Aren't there already enough midget-porn sites Mud? OK all jokes aside, I am curious what you are brewing up ..... Give us all a heads up when the time comes! Would like to check it out!
  16. "using potato pancakes as throwing stars" Holy shit, I spoke too soon! Source: http://www.thecrimson.com/article.aspx?ref=517444 "Latkes vs. Hamantashen: The Promised Food Pinker, Dershowitz debate the merits of two Jewish treats Potato or poppy? For the chosen people, it’s been an age-old debate over their chosen food. And last night, Frankfurter Professor of Law Alan M. Dershowitz and Johnstone Family Professor of Psychology Steven Pinker evoked health, terrorism, and evolution to end the dispute between latkes and hamantashen once and for all. The two professors, who face off weekly in their new spring course Psychology 1002, “Morality and Taboo,” argued the merits and tastes of the two Jewish delicacies in front of a packed Beren Hall at Harvard Hillel. Dershowitz, who has defended high-profile figures such as O.J. Simpson and Claus von Bülow, took the stand to attack high-cholesterol latkes. The criminal appellate lawyer accused the fried potato pancakes of increasing “America’s dependence on oil.” Compared to latkes—which Dershowitz said are also highly addictive—it is possible to just eat one hamantash, a triangular cookie often containing poppy-seed filling. “You can stop after one hamantash,” he said. “Try to stop after one latke.” There you have it. Straight from Harvard. Every time you eat a latke you support terrorism! LOL! Ill tell you what, holiday icons just aint what they used to be.
  17. Source: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/1120ap_odd_christmas_tree_weapon.html?source=mypi " Throw Christmas tree: Tannenbaum used as weapon PARRISH, Fla. -- Authorities say a Florida man who lives with his parents has been charged with attacking his father with a Christmas tree and its metal stand. According to the Manatee County sheriff's report, 37-year-old Thomas Edward Lackie was arrested and charged with felony assault last week. Authorities say he threw the 3-foot Christmas tree at his father but missed. They say he then tried to use its steel base to strike him. His father and mother subdued him. [edit: this paints a wonderful mental image of a mother in a housecoat and curlers chasing her husband (wearing a wife beater) and son (wearing an Ozzy Osbourne t-shirt) around the trailer, knocking over tv-trays and bowling trophies... Both the husband and son are fighting yet they each reserve one hand to clutch cans of beer, which is sloshing all over the place] The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports that he denied trying to strike his father. [edit: please tell me they got this all on video] Authorities didn't immediately return a call byThe Associated Press seeking information on the incident and whether Lackie has a lawyer." Well, lets see first it was clubbing someone with a frozen turkey, now we've got assault with a Christmas tree.... (Not clear if it was trimmed yet or not) I have to wonder what other holiday icons can end up being weaponized by the end of the season? Extra points for using a driedel to subdue someone, or using potato pancakes as throwing stars. You'd have to be a Ninja I'd think..... Peace
  18. I cant believe I just washed a cat's butt! On the other hand, the critter took to the water very well. I wonder if he'll put up a bigger struggle next time?
  19. One interesting resource is http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx At this site you can enter in some info about your location and it will tell you how much antenna you need and what direction to point it to pull in the digital signals. The good news is that the digital TV antennas are physically smaller than the VHF / UHF analog TV antennas because the digital signals are transmitted at UHF instead of VHF (a higher frequency means smaller antennas). Although the digital transmitters are probably more powerful (and that helps offset the difference between analog and digital broadcasting) I think that the digital signal is more difficult to pull in than the analog signal. By that I mean that you could get a crappy analog signal if you were in a marginal area or had a marginal antenna, but digital doesn't work the same way - An analog signal, as the signal gets weaker - produces an increasingly crappy picture - but you still get a picture and sound (with degradations) until the signal is completely horrible. A digital signal looks wonderful as you start with a great signal and then start decreasing the signal quality. But at a certain point, the picture just freezes. This happens at the point where the coding added to the signal to help repair errors in reception is insufficient to repair all the errors. It is a sudden threshold, where the analog threshold is gradual. Bottom line, you will probably discover that getting a good digital signal is more problematical than analog, however once you get set up you will enjoy a picture free of ghosts, snow, herring-bone patterns and other forms of interference and degradation. If you are living in an area with lots of digital broadcasters (like Los Angeles) you will also discover new channels (for instance the local public broadcasting station has more than 4 digital channels where they only had one analog channel). In our case here we often find re-runs of soundstage and other great musical shows on the newly discovered digital 'sub channels'. The additional channels also often run special news shows during times of local disaster such as wildfires etc. They have proven to be extremely valuable to us here. The channel numbering changes a little. For instance, our local NBC affiliate is on analog channel 4 On our digital tuners, the same channel (in digital form) shows up on channel 4-1. NBC also runs a digital channel 4-2, 4-3, 4-4 which all have different programming on them. Our satellite provider (DirecTV) does not offer all of the 'sub channels', and we can only get 4-1 through them, so to tune the others you need an over-the-air digital tuner.
  20. It was cool to see there in the sky - got a good show on my way home from work. Love looking at the stars, just wish the light pollution here would go away. We see so few stars here that when I do get out to a dark sky site and look up, I get disoriented and cant find the familiar stars I know from back home LOL! They just get lost up there in all those other stars. Takes a while to get your bearings again.
  21. I get the same thing here - web server is offline at the moment. Ill try to get things back up as soon as I can. Thank you for the heads up.
  22. Source: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27894830/ " Shopper clubs suspect with frozen turkey Man allegedly tried to steal woman's car in grocery store parking lot" "RALEIGH, N.C. - Stopped. Cold turkey. North Carolina authorities say a shopper clubbed an alleged carjacker with a frozen turkey as he tried to steal a woman's car in a grocery store parking lot Sunday. Police say 30-year-old Fred Louis Ervin of Raleigh stole money from a gas station before running across the street to a Harris Teeter store in a town just south of Raleigh. Garner police say he began beating Irene Moorman Bailey while stealing her car. Other shoppers came to her rescue, including one who hit Ervin with the turkey. Police did not release the person's name. Despite serious head injuries, Ervin got away in Bailey's car and hit several other cars as he fled. But police arrested him a short time later. He faces several charges including assault inflicting serious injury. Ervin was hospitalized Monday in good condition, a hospital spokeswoman said. He had not yet been assigned a lawyer and was to appear in court Dec. 30..." First you clobber 'em with the Turkey, then give 'em both barrels of stuffing! You know, the holiday season is always full of so many stories of good cheer..... (The guy is just lucky the shopper didn't have a canned ham instead!)
