Stone Age Flutes Are Window Into Early Music
angelic_22 replied to surfnburn's topic in Depot Street
"the Hohle Fels flute was uncovered in sediments a few feet away from the carved figurine of a busty, nude woman" It makes perfect sense that a fossilized flute would also be found with a fossilized groupie! Ill bet there are fossilized gig posters painted on the cave's walls too! And eventually they will find a fossilized velvet rope and bouncer outside the cave entrance -

I dont go that far Nurk, and its pretty clear she downloaded a few songs, and they did show she was making them available for sharing (although they never showed anyone but the riaa downloaded them from her). Still, fining her 80,000 per song is way out of proportion to any actual harm done. Its insane. I try to follow the rules but this kind of stuff makes me seethe and hope the riaa gets some serious payback. -
We have a big plastic jar that we got when buying a large quantity of pretzels. All our spare change goes in there. When its full you can barely lift it LOL! We take 'em to a counter to convert to paper money when it gets too full. Last time we did it (and the jar was mostly filled with silver) it ended up being several hundred bucks. That surprised us both.

Got a second monitor (a match for the one I already had - and real cheap on an Ebay auction from a surplus equipment reseller.) I added it to my photo editing computer. Twice the desktop space for editing... Great stuff. I 'hacked' it so that both monitors could be color calibrated and the calibrations active on the respective monitors at the same time (something I thought was impossible under XP). But I never thought I would go mad noticing extremely subtle differences in brightness LOL! Two monitors also mean twice the trouble

Source: http://www.kitv.com/entertainment/19762668/detail.html Performer Offers $500 Reward For Priceless Instruments HONOLULU -- Singer Anuhea Jenkins is pleading for help in finding two priceless guitars and a laptop stolen out of her pickup truck Sunday in Waikiki. Jenkins, 23, became an overnight online sensation after iTunes chose one of her songs last month for its weekly "Discovery Download." Now, Jenkins is reeling over the loss of her most prized possessions. After a tiring travel and performance schedule, she parked her truck on the Ala Wai to catch some of the south shore surf Sunday morning." I had just gotten done rehearsing with my band, which is why I had my computer because we were videotaping rehearsal through my computer. My two guitars were there with me because I just came from Maui from the airport," Jenkins said. Jenkins returned to her truck to find her laptop and two custom guitars stolen. One guitar belongs to her and the other to her aunt, Nalani Choy, from the group Na Leo Pilimehana. The guitars alone are valued at more than $6,000. "She gave it to me to use for this specific show in L.A. that I'm leaving for tonight," Jenkins said. The musician said she can perform without the guitars, but they are irreplaceable because of the sentimental value. There is a $500 reward per guitar.Anyone with information or in possession of the items is asked to call police, or contact Jenkins on Facebook or MySpace."No questions asked. We want it back. Please just get it back," Jenkins said.Anuhea said it does not matter how rushed you may be, do not leave valuables where someone could be tempted to take it."I learned my lesson the hard way. Don't even take the chance. Go drop it upstairs to your friend's house. Go do what you have to do to protect it, its worth it," Jenkins said.Anyone with information should call her manager Wyatt at 808-333-4224 or contact Anuhea at www.MySpace.com/anuheajams. From myspace: " Anuhea 6/17/2009 7:00 PM at The Mint, Official Anuhea LA showcase! 6010 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, California 90035 Cost: $8.00 Anuhea and Friend’s official LA showcase! Come support Hawaii’s rising star in Los Angeles. Many bands after ours, so come enjoy the evening. Hit me up if you want tickets for $4 instead... guest list. Lets party!" http://music.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=music.showDetails&friendid=34440503&Band_Show_ID=38548133 I hope she gets her guitars back!

Dive-Bombing Bird Becomes SF Attraction SAN FRANCISCO -- A territorial blackbird that has been dive-bombing pedestrians for weeks is continuing to attract a crowd in downtown San Francisco. Dozens of people spent their lunch breaks at the corner of California and Front streets watching the blackbird, nicknamed "Swoops" by a local blogger, attack passersby. Catherine Phillips, 32, who works nearby, was startled by what felt like a pebble dropping on her head. When the crowd burst into laughter, she realized what had happened and laughed herself. "I was wondering what everyone was staring at," she said. "It's just a little reminder not to walk by her nest." It's the Financial District's version of the Bush Man at Fisherman's Wharf, who hides behind a fake bush and jumps out to startle pedestrians. But in the bird's case, most passersby know what to expect. Bart Robinson, 34, who also works in the neighborhood, thought he would try his luck and walk down Swoops' stretch of sidewalk. Swoops wasn't having it. Robinson had called his mother in Utah and was on the phone with her during the attack. "It's kind of like a thrill ride you go through and you hope that he gets you," Robinson said. "It's exhilarating."....
