Hopefully NOBODY was fooled into clicking on the link that was served up by the site during the time period that the site was compromised. During that time the site said something like 'This site requires a plugin: click here to download' Sharp eyed users should have noticed that: 1. This file was an executable (not something you download if you are smart) 2. Ryan would never do something like that with his site (not without telling us first) 3. There was something very fishy about the entire thing (I thought 'hackers' the instant I first saw it) Anyone who downloaded and installed the plugin had better watch out. Bad stuff man. Also, preliminary evidence suggests that few virus scanners (including Norton Antivirus) were successful in detecting the file as malware. There were a few products that did detect the malware however and hopefully we can put up a list of these products and / or step by step disinfection instructions. So did anyone click that link?

^ That is one pissed off musician. I don't blame him.

Dirty Knobs Live At Cozys 06/26 & 06/27 2009

Thanks Tara. I just looked at the photo of Mike and Jason at work (on a different monitor). Its #318 in this thread - on the previous page. Anyhow, I was kinda horrified at how much noise I saw - especially since I don't see that here on either calibrated monitor. Of course it might be that the monitor at work are really cranked up and they are the problem. I may have 'pushed' it too far - does anyone else see an unacceptable amount of noise in that photo? If so I will try to back it down a little. PS: I get carried away with this photography thing, and the bottom line is with or without photos, this band simply rocks. I saw a lot of really good musicians over the holiday - some who are known and some who are not yet. But the honest truth is that, to me, none of them measured up to the Knobs, individually or as a group. That is absolutely not meant as a slam on the musicians at the festival, because we really enjoyed the music there and I'd like to do it again sometime. It was fun as heck! But there is something about those Knobs that really resonates in me - you guys too I think Aren't we just the luckiest music lovers on the planet? Thanks guys. You rock! -

Thank you! And thanks to everyone else who posted photos or added to this thread! (As ones who are lucky enough to live nearby, we are able to catch almost all the gigs - so this time when we couldn't catch Saturday's show we got a chance to experience first hand how threads like this help share the fun.) Y'all took a lot of great photos and I am drooling when I read the set list! (Just love the look of that Jaguar guitar - and Mike also played an acoustic guitar and that was a kick! I have never seen Mike play an acoustic at a gig before. Ill try to get a photo or two up if any are passable) -
Happy Birthday Nurktwin! Hope you have a wonderful celebration. That cake is too much! And looks much better than any cake I might bake I should add!

The Dirty Knobs~!! -
wow - just seeing this now - I also expected it would have fetched more. A great cause too. PS: The High Sierra Music Festival had a special camping section for those who were on the road to recovery from addictions - no drugs / booze allowed there. I would imagine that could be a lot of help to someone trying to kick bad habits in an environment where there was ample temptation. There was also a booth set up in the vendor's section for people who were curious about seeking help, or who wanted to support the cause. It didn't appear to be focused entirely on musicians but also music lovers too. That item should have fetched thousands. A lot of people are in need of that kind of support, and once someone decides to make a change, a little support can go a long way to improve the odds of success.

So there we were camping at the High Sierra Music Festival - it was a chaotic scene with tents and tie-dye everywhere. On a lark, I brought this stuffed animal Bat that we got at the Folk Music Center when Marc Ford played there with the Neptune Blues Band. I got this great idea to string up some fishing line between a couple of trees, and hook up the Bat with a pull string so I could hoist it up the line and then release it - and it would slide back down the line, swooping just over head level across a trail in the camp. We all got a kick out of it. Even the loaded people who came staggering by. Especially the loaded people who staggered by! I even got my brother in law to help out - and when a likely victim was approaching, he would run down the trail screaming "Bats!" while flailing his arms in the air. The people would be looking at him as they walked - thinking he was having a flashback - when the Bat would swoop in for the kill! Definitely Bat country!

Big Love kinda ruined any fantasies I may have had involving polygamy Well, its just a TV show right? It could still work...... Ummmmm, right! High Sierra Music Festival does not start for another 2 days - so we are relaxing and performing some initial recon sweeps of the area You'll have to keep up on the TV programs for us while we are away! Don't let Ari down, he can be so grouchy!

Entourage- although I like a number of the other shows, I just love watching Ari throwing a fit - and that episode where they all went to Joshua Tree was just too funny. I keep waiting for Tom and the gang to end up on that show. Lets see: Turtle and Vince are driving along PCH, stop to watch the waves and blow out a tire when they accidentally back over some guys surfboard when leaving. An altercation between Turtle and a growing group of angry surfers nearly breaks out when Tom Petty happens by on his daily beach stroll, explains what a big fan he is of Vince's work, and gets the surfers to mellow out a little. Tom later explains that he was a little disappointed that he didn't get to do the soundtrack for 'Aquaman' - especially since Mike Campbell wrote some killer surf guitar tunes in anticipation of the movie. Vince calls Ari to summon him to the estate to try and work something out with Tom, but Ari gets arrested while driving to Malibu after a road rage incident precipitated by a broken surfboard flying through his Lexus' windshield as he is driving by Malibu. Ari uses his one call to contact Turtle and eventually Vince politely asks Tom if he can help spring Ari from his predicament. Together they bust him out of the slammer: "Let me handle this - The sheriff knows me pretty well from my UFO days - but I'm reformed now and maybe he'll cut us a little slack" They end up back at the beach, telling bullshit stories and brainstorming about a new movie with the working title of 'Topanga Cowgirl'

A good sense of humor is important, but most of all I love spending time with people who feel passionate about things - like music, or art. Oh, and if they like camping, and the mosquitoes find them tastier than me, its a real plus!

OK a 6 hour trail ride up to Hilton Lakes was wonderful! Even if it took a team of medical professionals several hours to surgically remove the saddle from my butt! Seriously though, that was a ball. I have not been on horseback for over 30 years, and learned everything I know about horseback riding from watching old Clint Eastwood movies LOL! We are going to have to do that again - maybe have them pack us into one of those lakes and leave us for a few days for some fishing and photography. Highly recommended - 75 bucks a person from the rock creek pack station just outside of Lake Crowley, CA. Only wish I could have taken my camera gear - they balked at the weight Now, if I can just find a donor for a complete butt transplant! Thankfully, the hot tubs at the Benton Hot Springs was just the thing to help soothe sore muscles. And it was so dark there! The Milky Way was so bright! (I fired up my green laser and played a little You could see the beam hitting the underside of clouds waaaaay up in the sky! That was cool! It is wonderful to embrace your inner geek!)

Athena and I are checking in from Quincy - Glad to see the Saturday night show was wonderful too! Wish we could have been there of course! And as far as requesting that tune goes, I think it was a perfect suggestion Bakersfield Welcome to the Farm! We wish we had been there to enjoy it with the rest of you, because there is nothing in the wide world like hearing Mike take off on a surf tune. It was great seeing everyone there Friday night - just like a family gathering. (I'm the weird Uncle! LOL) Peace [edit: Bakersfield. were you at the Vinny's DK shows a few years back? ] -

Source: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/06/24/kate_moss_laptop_lynching/ "Spindly, party-hopping Croydon supermodel Kate Moss is in some bother with her bloke, Kills muso Jamie Hince, after allegedly hurling his laptop - replete with new songs - into a swimming pool. The Guardian website happily reported yesterday that Moss flung Hince's bag into the pool during an argument. Hince, whose 2003 debut album with bandmate Alison Mosshart was entitled Keep On Your Mean Side, apparently leapt in to retrieve the bag, but frantic resuscitation attempts failed to revive either his dripping BlackBerry or saturated laptop. The laptop, according to the Mirror, held six new Kills tracks - naturally there's no back-up. Tsk, these artistic types. Serial rocker-shagger Moss is supposedly doing the honourable thing and replacing the laptop, although the tunes will presumably need to be recorded again. Moss, who's been known to do a bit of warbling for the likes of Primal Scream and Babyshambles, reportedly asked her chap last year if she could do some guest vocals with The Kills - a suggestion which was met with scowls from an exasperated Mosshart. Moss's thwarted musical ambitions are not believed to be connected with the hardware-drowning incident. No word yet on the make of the laptop - but hey, you've got an IT angle, what more do you want?"

Source: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/06/26/atlantis_rogue_knob/ " Rogue knob could ground space shuttle Atlantis Wedged between dashboard and window, and refusing to budge NASA is pondering how to remove a rogue knob which has firmly wedged itself between a window and the dashboard of space shuttle Atlantis - an apparently minor affair which could actually result in a six-month delay in the venerable vehicle's STS-129 mission to the International Space Station, or even see the shuttle grounded for good......" I just hope they don't hurt the Knob while removing it! They have a gig tonight!

^ too jealous to type OK seriously, that is waaaaaaay cool! -
Honestly I don't know what kind of guitar that is - the design closely resembles a Broadcaster, but what is that third chrome knob? All of the images I have seen (so far) of Broadcasters only have two knobs. Well, the more Knobs the merrier huh? As long as they are Dirty that is [edit: Its a Knobcaster!]
