  1. That makes perfect sense Monkey - and I can see how a credit line is really important to a small business.

I think what your bank is doing will be ruled illegal after the credit reform bill goes into effect in a few years or whatever - so the bastards are doing all they can to gouge customers while they still can using the soon to be banned methods.

Of course the credit companies will still find some holes in the law, but it might take them a little while to perfect screwing us in the new 'position'.

  2. I always disliked B of A and closed all my accounts there because of the hassles they put me thru. Now that Countrywide has gone tits up guess who is holding my Mortgage?

I hear they are closing branches too.

Don't blame you for being upset. I didn't go to business school and find myself somewhat surprised about the extent to which businesses leverage borrowed money to function. Maybe if I ran my own business I would understand that, but I would have thought that for many things the business would self-finance out of previous profits. Of course if the business is expanding or growing that may not be completely possible.

  3. She was looking great as always - in fact I had not heard the news about her MS diagnosis before the gig - to be sure there were no indications of it last night.

It was great to see a 'home town' band playing a triumphant home town gig.

Would it be strange if I said that X had true class? A 'punk band'? Well, they sure demonstrated it last night - their music as vital as ever!

X still has something to say :)

  4. Athena and I were pleased to take in a phenomenal X performance at the OC Fair last night.

The band was in great form, and poured on the energy as they played all night. More grinning was seen up on stage than in one of those 'Bob the Male Enhancement Guy' commercials, and it was abundantly clear that the artists were immersed in as much joy by making the music, as we in the audience were to be reveling in it.

I have not been shy to voice my displeasure with the oppressive security at the OC Fair concerts, and last night was no exception except to say that John Doe was having none of it! He is my new hero :)

At least two different times he forcibly removed oafish security people from the rail where they were either needlessly blocking the views of audience members, or harassing people who (from what we could tell from our vantage point) were simply enjoying the music. He even halted one song mid way to escort a couple of the yellow-shirts to the side of the stage and away from the rail.

I grew up along with the punk scene in Fullerton. My relationship with that music is hit and miss - but the band X has always been a favorite of mine. It was wonderful in so many ways to see that the audience at the Fair was standing throughout the show and in better form than I can recall in a long time. The folks up front (at the rail) no longer seemed to be the 'Dockers and Dress Shirt' subset of the population, but were instead a motly mixture of all types. I don't know if this is the result of the upset of the shady inside ticket dealing resulting from the sheriff's strong arming of the event for years - but it was a nice change of pace. Rock needs a receptive audience and too much front row pasteurization simply shorts out that energy that comes from the audience.

I want to see X again! Truly a wonderful time and everyone was looking GREAT! Those smiles said it all.

If the OC Fair cuts back a little more on the security, it might be a good place to see concerts too. At one point while the opening band was performing, it seemed like 25% of those present were wearing the yellow and red shirts of the security teams. C'mon guys, its a celebration not a concentration camp :)

Take a clue from John Doe and get with the program. :)

  5. Going with Athena to help her pick out eye glasses.

(I would get some myself but my damnable insurance company is taking their sweet time approving my eye exam - but I can wait because it'll save me 80 bucks once they do. Ill just stumble around semi-blind till then)

Also recuperating from my tooth extraction. I kinda over-did it at the X concert last night. But that band rocks!

  6. I LOVE them, but I'm still super ticked off at them for cancelling their Sacramento show this August in order to play Vegas instead. I understand that's where the money is at, but I'm still bitter I won't be able to see them...and that Ticketmaster didn't refund the service charge. Grr!

Let me get this straight - they canceled a concert at their option (they could have played it but decided against it after tickets were sold) and then ticketmaster keeps the service charge?

    That sounds criminal.

They are playing the forum here. Not my favorite venue, but I would like to see the band perform. Wonder if they will actually show or just play Vegas instead? ;)

  7. Athena was watching Fox news at the gym (hey its what they had tuned - not her choice) and they were showing a story about Walter...

In the piece they mentioned that Such was his influence that in some country JOURNALISTS are simply called 'Cronkites'.

Then the Fox guy says "I am proud to call myself a Cronkite".

Athena almost fell off her machine. FOX has a long way to go before it can compare itself to him!

RIP Walter. We could use a guy like you now.
