I also heard a plug for Little Steven's Garage on the Dylan hour on XM yesterday. It was precipitated by a listener email regarding garage bands.

It depends, but for a good all around Red I like Negrette. I am mostly partial to reds though.
-
1. What is your favorite red food?
Watermelon
2. Do you own any red clothing?
Yes!
3. Name one item you can see right now that is red.
Athena's Hair!
4. Have you ever run a stop sign or red light?
Yes, about 10 minutes ago - they are on private streets, and are merely 'serving suggestions' as the association lacks any ability to enforce them and the police refuse to accept responsibility of patrolling the private streets! Its like the old west!
5. Do you ever get so angry that you "see red"?
Nope -
6. Take this quiz - What Color Red Are You?
You Are Apple Red
You're never one to take life too seriously, and because of it, you're a ton of fun.And although you have a great sense of humor, you are never superficial.
Deep and caring, you do like to get to the core of people - to understand them well.
However, any probing you do is light hearted and fun, sometimes causing people to misjudge you.
Except for the not being one to take life too seriously part it fits OK I guess.

I love the high energy environment of the mega-arena, but it doesn't take a multi-million dollar set to showcase the music. In fact, I like it best when that small bar band vibe is translated faithfully to the big arena. No need for Busby Berkeley dance numbers and mega production.

Happy Birthday Starfish!!!
May all your birthday dreams come true

Yes I can get into doing some pretty silly things when I have idle time on my hands.... That is for sure.
Like the time some DJ went all agro over The Red Hot Chili Peppers Dani California sounding like Mary Jane's Last Dance...
Huge parts of the songs sounded pretty similar to me, although I don't think the parties involved ever went to court over it or anything.
But I was bored and a little carried away and thought it would be amusing to create a 'Mary Jane Test Kit'.
So this is what I ended up with.

So anyhow, I had all the props left over (I made the test kit box out of a box of bandaids and didnt want to waste them) so I just stuffed them into the downstairs medicine cabinet.
Got a startled look from a friend who went in there to get some aspirin after that and saw the box and the syringe. LOL! I told him the story and he just looked at me and shook his head.
"Groupies...."
You probably recognize the same kitchen tile in the background of the Tomtilla shots
I spared no expense in setting up the photo studio! -
Actually I think it came out looking more like Darth Vader than Tom, but in the end the 'Tomtilla' was a success.
I did however refrain from attempting to sell it on Ebay. Although I could see it in a display case in a Hard Rock Cafe someplace LOL!
Sadly, time took its toll on the Tomtilla and it has gone off to wherever it is that tortillas go to in the afterlife.
Maybe I should have had it bronzed LOL~

I cant believe my motorhead buddy put a 60's vintage Shelby tire pressure gauge up for sale on Ebay and got $600!!!!!!!
It still reads the correct pressure after all these years. We used that gauge when we would rebuild old mustangs back in the good old days. Never knew its value. He got it from a guy who owed him $20.00 back in the 70's.
A great investment LOL!

Wiretapping is most definitely illegal without consent or a warrant. Those who try to implement such systems typically try to place innocuous sounding language into privacy agreements instead of clearly indicating that data mining and profiling is being used. They will try to argue that 'opt out' is the correct model instead of 'opt in'.
But based upon the UK case (Phorm) once people realized what was afoot they refused to have any part of it.
So expect these characters to move in under cover of darkness

Someone, anyone..... How did the gig go? I wanna know! (jumping up and down)

It would be great if you could come out Nurktwin. I still owe you a round from Cozy's!

Its funny as hell the way Phil and Matt share some of the drums sometimes. The first time I remember seeing them play together was at Joe's Joint and I can still picture them smiling and laughing at the back of the stage - each periodically taking swipes at the other's cymbals.
-
Wonderful!!!!
-
WooHoo!!!!!! I love it when Phil and Matt drum together. (I am assuming it will be Phil and Matt, but who knows. Those drummers are sneaky!)
Major Reno rode up to Colonel Custer on the eve of the Little Big Horn massacre and said, "Colonel, there's evidence of a large number of Indians over the ridge. I don't like the sound of those drums."
From over the ridge came a loud cry, "He's not our regular drummer!"

Well, it was either that joke, or this one......
An anthropologist decides to investigate the natives of a far-flung tropical island. He flew there, found a guide with a canoe to take him up the river to the remote site where he would make his collections. About noon on the second day of travel up the river they began to hear drums. Being a city boy by nature, the anthropologist was disturbed by this. He asked the guide, "What are those drums?"
The guide turned to him and said "Drums OK, but VERY BAD when they stop."
Then, after some hours, the drums suddenly stopped! This hit the anthropologist like a ton of bricks, and he yelled at the guide: "The Drums have stopped, what happens now?"
The guide crouched down, covered his head with his hands and said, "Bass solo".

oil and filter change for the RAV and then a wash. It still has bugs on it from the High Sierra Music Festival!

It is really hard to write about this technology, without it coming across as a paranoid rant penned by a Luddite.
In the paper age, this kind of surveillance was possible, but required enormous resources. It still happened but the scope was limited by the resources available to whatever regime attempted the implementation and the security requirements to keep it secret.
In the digital age it is relatively simple to insert a box in the network that snoops with great efficiency - in the cold and calculating manner of a machine. By mining the various bits of info you gain about your targets, you can extract amazingly detailed profiles about them. You are the proverbial fly on their every wall.
The potential for nefarious uses of the collected information is virtually without bounds, and yet like the proverbial frog in a heating pot of water, the general population does not seem to realize, or care, that their privacy is being cooked, bit by bit.
I fail to see why we should allow the creation of systems like this that create such a huge potential for abuse - especially when the consequences of that abuse could be so devastating and we have done such a poor job of 'policing' the usage of such systems.
It seems counter to the idea of consumer protection at the very least, and at most the concept of having a Democracy and not a Fascist State.
The risk here is that we offer our acceptance of this abuse through our apathy.

Two companies - We would dump our land line phones but ATT conveniently provides poor cell reception in our neighborhood and refuses to do anything about it.

This kind of tracking is a major violation of privacy unless users 'opt in', and even so depending on how it is implemented may still represent a grave threat.
In the UK a company called 'Phorm' ((brought to you by the same people who were involved in 121 media, a notorious spyware company) got in close with a major ISP (British Telecom) and ran secret 'trials' of their snooping software on thousands of people without warning, approval or consent. Their system involved network hardware installed at the ISP through which ALL your traffic passes.
When challenged on it the UK authorities have done basically nothing, although major public pressure due to several news outlets breaking the story has led to sufficient outcry that the companies are now back-peddaling.
However the UK government wishes to roll out a surviellance system to snoop on everyone's internet traffic (i.e. 'deep' packet inspection) which is essentially similar to the ad targeting system. So it may well be that the lack of government action to stop the illegal snooping by Phorm is due to the Government wanting to do the same thing to all UK citizens.
Phorm wanted an 'Opt Out' system, where everyone was snooped unless they opted out, however you needed to keep a 'opt out' cookie on your system or opt out every time you logged in - and still, given the illegal activities of the 121 media company from which Phorm sprouted, it is unlikely that Phorm should be trusted at all to honor the opt out. Also, if multiple users share a computer, the opt in or out was based on the computer itself and not the individual user.
Phorm was going to not only snoop on the traffic exiting your computer, but also the traffic entering your computer - and they would 'insert' their ads onto web pages you visited.
All traffic could be snooped, including email, web browsing, financial transactions, confidential communications etc. This is essentially illegal wiretapping unless all parties who are being snooped give their consent.
Why should anyone make their browsing traffic, email, and confidential communications available to snoopers so that the snoopers can harvest it and make money off of our private communications? What do we get out of it? They claim its a 'improved browsing experience' but that is truly Orwellian doublespeak for more ads that we dont want shoved down our throats.
We all leave a digital trail when we use the net. It makes surviellance extremely easy, and over time every thing that you browse, purchase, look at can be cataloged, categorized, and stashed away into a secret file to which you have no access or ability to correct (should there be errors).
This information can be sold to whomever the company wants - to be used for any reason whatsoever.
Even if you 'have nothing to hide' you probably dont walk around the house naked with all your windows open. Systems like these are extremely serious violations of privacy and are basically illegal wiretaps performed without warrants, probable cause, oversight, or recourse if laws are violated.
We need to stand up and say 'HELL NO' if / when our ISPs attempt to roll this out.
I will leave any ISP that attempts to deploy such a system and strongly advise others to do so as well.
However I will allow such companies to 'data mine' my traffic for $1,000,000 per month. Short of that my answer is NO!
Check out this link for more info about Phorm: http://search.theregister.co.uk/?q=phorm
Honestly, there is so much there to read, but that site and their users have done an amazing job of shining daylight on the notorious activities of this company, BT and the UK Government. If you do read up on this, remember to ask your own ISP 'Do you currently run an ad targeting system that is monitoring my web traffic?' LEt them know how you feel about such privacy violations and that you will leave them if they implement such a system. If they tell you you have to wait until your contract is up, remind them that by deploying this kind of system without your consent they have violated the contract and you are no longer bound by it.

Very cool! Thank you for the info!!!!!

It was a prank of extraordinary magnitude......
I was sitting around the house and decided to make a tortilla seem like it had an image of Tom Petty on it. You know, one of those "I saw Jesus on a cracker" things -
The materials - Tortillas, a set of knives, a basting brush, culinary torch, butter and a 'stencil' of Tom's profile.

First step is print out a profile of Tom.

Then you cut it out with a set of exacto knives......

Use the stencil to lightly brush some melted butter onto a tortilla (soon to become a holy relic). Then brown with a torch.
Take a photo and post it on the tom petty website claiming its some kind of sign..... and run for cover!

Stay safe everyone!
(And good luck on the server swap this weekend Ryan! - Guess we will know if it is successful as soon as you do!)

No, if I recall correctly this was Bob Dylan mentioning the show not Tom.
