...this "super-bloom" of flowers across California might be closest we get to Wildflowers for now. FYI Nice grassroots site (if you're into day-dreaming about hiking & wildflowers in California) seems to be website by rangers / national parks for Santa Monica mountains www.smmflowers.org/whatsblooming/
The first image is posted on a NASA site - no it's not from a satellite - yes photographer is NASA pilot.

These 2 are from other sites.

I'm Canadian, so I don't really have a high opinion of the United States at the moment.

Here's the thing as I see it....you keep reading Tom's thinking of his fans , but I believe , 100% of his fans , would rather have no tour and a healthy Tom.  I know I would and I believe all of us here feel the same.  He obviously didn't know how much we care .  As much as his fans enjoyed the tour , to have Tom recuperating , would've made us all happier.  I think there's more to his health problems then they're saying , and that's their right for privacy.  I had a uncle who died , fairly young , early 50's, who if he didn't have the surgery he'd die , but he died during surgery.   Maybe Tom's case was like this. His emphysema may have prevented surgery , we just don't know.

Well, smoking most assuredly caused his emphysema. And it could have contributed to his coronary artery disease, High cholesterol was probably the main culprit there.  But I don't think smoking was directly or remotely the cause of his hip fracture.  Tom also suffered from joint issues in his knees. That, too, likely had nothing to do with smoking.  His knee pain was most likely  caused by arthritis.  He used to put a lot of pressure and stress on his knees performing years ago.   Knee injuries occurring in one's youth, likely results in arthritis later on. I know, because I use to put a lot of stress on my knees when I was younger. Now I have very painful arthritis in both knees.  I was never a smoker.

Well, I'm not gonna play doctor. But I will  repeat a very common medical fact regarding joint problems, as well as osteoporosis; AGE plays a major role bone health. Tom's autopsy didn't include any information on whether or not he had osteoporosis,  If it did, then I missed that.  We have known, since his death, that Tom fractured his hip shortly before the tour was to begin.  I know some fans think that postponing the tour in order to  repair or replace Tom's hip would not have made any difference. That is, some people think Tom would have died on October 2 either way!
I don't feel that way at all. I know what horrific joint paint feels like. I choose to deal it without  painkillers. But then, I'm not a musician performing lengthy tour. Tom lived with both, knee pain and a fractured hip. He obviously was in debilitating pain.  Now, my opinion isjust my opinion. But I think that IF Tom had postponed the tour and had surgery to repair his hip, he would not have needed high doses of pain meds.  I don't think his medical issues were so severe that they could not have been treated. Personally, and this is just my observation, I think the overuse of pain meds killed our beloved Tom.  Not his medical problems.
(Sorry for this discombobulated post^. But I couldn't make any corrections for some reason. )
I also was to add that I don't think Tom had a drug problem. I just think his pain was too much and he seems to have relied too much on pain meds....obviously overdosing.

^ Yes. He is a little, little man, in every way that counts.
In fact, it's doubtful, in the face of his fictional worldviews, his lack of judgement, decency and grace, that he is a man at all. I just recently sat through Men In Black again, and I've been pondering the character of certain people ever since. It's tough, I want to love them all, but their aim to claim the planet for otherworldy greed and stupidity, is quite hard  to turn the other cheek on. And as always it's hard to decide what's worse-  the idol, the false religion or the whorshippers themselves. I'm leaning towards the last, since they are what brought this late stage of rot upon us. All is done in the name of "greatness" and of "ordinary people". Has there ever been a bigger lie in the history of mankind. (I can think of just a few that even compares.) Before this particular "fat man" is done, I'm afraid that the "great" ones will be so few that the survival of their genes will be a biological impossibility (at least without the help of sciences they don't believe in), and that "ordinary" have come to mean "serfs", all our rights and freedom retracted, in small, largely unnoticed portions. The most fascinating thing of all, is how absurdly relative yet similar the handeling of "truth" is at this point, by the extreme right and the extreme left. All over the world we see them reach out for each other, idolizing the "democratic" wonders worked by the likes of Vladimir Putin. Myself, I never thought I'd live to see a modern day Josef Stalin - reversed in ideology but identical in his methods - wreaking havoc in the world. Least of all from within the s.c. "free" world. Peace and freedom and rights and love to all! Don't let the backward minds drag you down!

The problem isn't Donald Trump.  It's the 62 million American racist assholes that voted for him.  We did that, America.   Own it.  It's who we are.

Marion, I'm so glad your husband is on the road to recovery.   I know what it is like...from your perspective,   About a year and a half ago, my husband started feeling increasingly ill. In May, of 2016, he was hospitalized for one month (at a local hospital) before being transferred to Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. They are miracle workers!  My husband had open heart  bypass  and an aortic heart valve replacement.  He was back to  work  4 months later, on October 1st.

IDK I think 2017 kinda sucked.  I was reflecting with my wife that this time last year I was looking at Petty Tix for Boston and CT...    what a difference a year makes.
