Woke up this morning at 5am with the sounds of myself playing drums to "I Am The Walrus" by The Beatles floating around in my head. I don't remember dreaming of anything before waking, so I have no idea how that popped into my head. After waking and making coffee, I sat here and checked the PC for news, sports and whatnot. I noticed a story about The Beatles and clicked on it. To my surprise, it was about the lyrics to "I Am The Walrus",  from Atlantic Magazine. I'm posting this under "Creative Corner" because what could be more creative than Lennon writing lyrics? Click the link below to read the article and one man's thoughts of what it all means. In honor of Marion's birthday, I'm going to take you back to this very day in 1968 when a song called "Badge" was released featuring George Harrison and Eric Clapton. But George's name couldn't be listed on the song because of contractual obligations. So he was listed as "L'Angelo Misterioso. Happy Birthday Marion!!

Drums are sitting in the corner of the living room, I'm still deciding on hardware and cymbals. I already have 2 set of drums, so I have hardware and cymbals, but I think I'd like to upgrade to new cymbals and hardware so all 3 sets can be set up at the same time. I'm definitely buying A. Zildjian cymbals, just have to go out and try sizes and weights for the sounds I want and decide on regular or brilliant finish. I'm leaning towards Gibraltar heavy duty hardware at the moment, I'll have to go out and look around before ordering them too. After shopping around, I'll most likely order everything from Sweetwater Music, they do a fantastic job and have what you order at your door the next day. Gonna try to post a picture or two of the drums in the corner of the L/R. Hope it works!

 

What a day to go out and get things done. Of all the days, I picked today to go get a blood test and do some shopping. It was about 20 degrees this morn with high winds, so the wind chill was about 12 degrees and it doesn't seem much better now at noon. And to top it off, it's starting to snow!!!! I'm not ready for this.

When I asked this question, I had a clear answer. After thinking a bit, I have 2 answers, both are equally my fav's.
1. I've always loved traveling to different cities and then waiting at the airport for all my Farmer friends flights to arrive and then go to the hotel together and check in. Then get together outside by the pool and catch up and have a beer before we'd walk or drive to a show. After the show was equally important, getting back to the hotel, sitting by the pool having wings and pizza while downing a few drinks and talk about the show. I find it hard to think that will probably never happen again.
2. My original answer. What I've always loved about this band was being in the venue when the show started. It was not only electrifying, but I was right there watching the greatest band on earth!! My fav was watching Tom and Mike putting on a guitar show, changing guitars on almost every song. Their guitar makes and models that they brought onstage just amazed me and affects me to this day. I started buying guitars in the 60's and got about everything the Beatles played. But Tom and Mike expanded my interest in other guitars 1 Million percent and that's why I keep buying and have over 100 now. I cannot thank them enough for expanding my views on guitars and their music. They are simply "The Best". Thanks for the 40 years you gave to the world!!!!!
