I did find some interesting and useful info in this, but you have to wonder about what happens to the less than perfect student? My kids strive for As, and in most cases succeed at that, but quite honestly I'd take a B in a harder, AP or Honors class or something that will contribute to their general knowledge than an easy A.
Just comparing my college freshman (As&Bs, as well as fine arts/music) to some of his friends who got all As (straight academic load) - there is a big difference in analytical skill and overall breadth of knowledge and how things relate to each other.
Learning how to analyze and think vs. regurgitating information IMHO will help you not only be a better world citizen but also be more qualified to work in a profession that you really understand and love.
But who knows - I surely don't have it perfected yet!

Gave away a bunch of unworn kid's clothes.

^ the stalking will continue until we have success!
j/k all! would never really stalk the man, though some of us who remain nameless are not above sitting at a certain bar or looking at his mailbox!

Not even 30 yet, and my doctor says I have started menopausing! WTF!!! :eek:make him test your thyroid levels - don't take no for an answer... !

I watch it - I admit it! I love the mix of delusion, drama and the very occasional talent. What amazes me is when someone who so very obviously can't carry a tune is encouraged by family/friends to audition - I just don't get that.
Jimmy Iovine? can't figure that one out, must be paying him a boatload and he probably gets first crack at the newest pop singers now that Simon is gone.

so many!
House, Dexter, Real Housewives, Sopranos, just a week or so ago it was Little House on the Prairie and Anne of Green Gables. Also that new Gold Mining show - very cool! Of course I'm trying to do something else while they are on, but sometimes you just can't resist being lazy!

I love how the out of state Alabama parents I've met have worked together to get our kids back with all the chaos surrounding the upcoming storm. Flights changed from Chicago, shuttles coordinated from New York, groceries being brought down from Tennessee... Roll Tide!

guess Footloose -
I loved him in Apollo 13

I must confess, did not walk the dogs yesterday... sure it was c-c-cold but I was just being lazy.

and hi Nel!

Randomly speaking... we have been in limbo for almost eight weeks. For people who generally like to have control over things, this is making us crazy!

Yes, out for sushi and drinks early, then our friends came back to our house for awhile... strong drinks, asleep by 11pm until the kids came home around 1. Got to hear their party stories on the big bed. Nice way to start the new year!

1) Going to a big party or stay at home?
drinks and sushi with friends at 4 - I figure we'll be home by 9.
2) Will you be staying up late to watch the ball drop in Times Square?
will try to since the kids will be out and I won't sleep well until they get home. Come to think of it I'm sure I have to go pick Jackson up after then...
3) Will you make any New Year's resolutions?
Some really basic goals which are totally achievable, and then the usual get healthy, no stress etc. ones
4) Who do you think would make a good host for a Rockin' Out New Year's Eve?
Benmont

5) Do you know the words to Auld Lang Syne?
first verse

Heavy rains last night so the snow is gone and it's like spring again... which only means one thing. Time to scoop the poop

^ sounds like a Real Housewives of X in the making. What's funny is that this dad is going to be so surprised and confused when his daughter turns out to be a hellacious (sp?) teen... after all he raised her perfectly!
