  1. Thanks Patty - I know Marion and Pete will benefit from all the extra prayers and good thoughts. Times like this I wish we all lived a bit closer. Farmers = Family
  2. eggs, bacon and broccoli for breakfast salad w/mahi for lunch dinner? maybe burgers w/ground turkey and beef, zucchini.... (which was gross - not in the mood for it, ate half and the dogs loved the rest)
  3. Gas, definitely, makes it much easier (outside).

  6. why of course, you may have heard a few of my world-famous classics, like "sit down for ummies - you put them in your tummies," or "I'd like to know where you put the lotion" (sung to the tune of Rock the Boat)

    ANTS!

found it - Terro can be used safely around pets and children. The inert ingredients are sweet food-based products similar to pancake syrup. The active ingredient is Borax. Borax is a natural mineral that is found in many consumer products and has been used safely by homeowners for years.

    ANTS!

we had this problem living in Florida, and used to use something called Tarro(?), you leave it near the ants and they take it back and it kills the rest.
  10. ^ you're right Nurk, I was just being nice.
  11. Nel - I bet many of those people don't have two nickels left to rub together after those trips. suffice it to say I never travel beyond my means, though I did stay at an awesome Wingate Inn for a whopping $49/night in Tuscaloosa last month.
  12. fall back - kids going to school in the dark again this morning ;(
  13. Really? I had no idea - seriously! Who do i see about getting that hour of my life back?
  14. he's in foods, would be running a pepper processing plant (or something like that) Times being what they are, and him being 50s and downsized finding a high paying job in his field is huge, not like he could pass this up. There has to be someplace middle class out that way, an enclave where they would be happy/safe. Let him commute in. I know that sounds elitist but frankly when your kids have grown up in an area like ours with such incredible schools, family nearby, (oxford comma!) and a grammy winning music program - I just don't see how this can work. Without the kid issue I could easily do it though. Personally, I'd stay back for the three years while the kid finishes high school - take alot of trips back and forth... but that's just me, and her husband says that is not an option. She's coming to me for advice, the marriage is long but not strong, like many where the spouse has spent so much time working he's essentially left out of home activities. This will be really hard no matter what they decide.
  15. Wuthering Heights - OMG what drivel... should have had Fabio on the cover.
  16. ^ not the good news I was hoping for! she really doesn't want to go as it is, 15% of the kids at that high school go to college - talk about culture shock! Thanks for the info guys
  17. LOL - I like that, CaliFarmers... I have a good friend who just found out she is having to relocate this summer. Looking for any and all info/suggestions as to a good area, especially if anyone has any local knowledge of a high school with a good music program. Her hubby will be working in Escalon, Ca., so the closer to that the better. Any input y'all? I am totally clueless as to the area. Thanks!
  18. E-I-E-I-O! Welcome to the Farm...
