This past week was good. It started out with a good friend and I having breakfast and walking the beaches of Lake Erie, moved on to TPATH with my sister and niece, then returned to work - which was easy and productive this week. Yesterday I worked around the house, did laundry, bought a new bedspread ensemble. I joined BookMooch and already have 5 books to send out to people. Good week!

By a long shot, religious views. For many people, even questioning the religion/faith their brought up in is out of the question.

Not a bad mix. I listened for a bit this morning. Joined BookMooch. Sending out my first book soon, and have already requested a book from someone else. (and quoting myself - lol!)

I also just finished Seven Years In Tibet.... and am considering joining BookMooch I've got books to get rid of!

Band Together: Internal Dynamics in U2, R.E.M., Radiohead and the Red Hot Chili Peppers by Mirit Eliraz. If you're a fan of these bands, you will enjoy this book. It's a rather academic take, yet still a unique look at what makes the bands tick. Wish more interviews discussed the internal dynamics of bands - so interesting!

I've been a fan of Daniel Ash's for years... OMG! And he's a stellar guitarist.

LOL! I can say that he seemed to walk off stage quite a bit. There was another tech behind the lower curtains on his side of the stage. Benmont would walk over, wave his hands about and say something, then return to the keyboards just as the next song started. Doubt that has anything to with the chiliburger though.

Thank you for the write ups Sharon & PJ & nice pix fandinvegas. It sounds like y'all had a terrific time.

I hear ya, nurk. I was hoping to meet people from the farm at both of the shows I was at and it didn't happen partially because I'm the shy type. We could probably have an entire thread with that discussion. Wait. We did -- I think it was the Midwest Meetup. Hasn't happened yet. I don't agree that people are 'against' meeting at shows. A meet and greet could be fun, but someone (or several someones) need to organize such a thing for each and every concert and let's face it, we all have our own agendas. But no one 'organized' a get together...and I'm the shy type so I don't just walk up to people and introduce myself with ease. Maybe we need "mudcrutch farm" hats or pins or balloons with our 'farm icons & names' emblazened upon them. LOL! We'd be easier to spot in a crowd.

Do I even need to say it? I had a great weekend! :045: I left home Saturday morning to spend time with a friend in the Western suburbs of Cleveland. We met a friend for great Indian food, shopped at Barnes & Noble, Trader Joe's, and chatted the whole time. In the morning we had a huge breakfast at a local place, then lazily strolled along a local beach along Lake Erie. And in no time at all, I was back in my car for the hour drive to Akron for the show. I saw ominous clouds as I neared Cleveland proper and then the heavens opened - man! What a rain storm. I was thankful I didn't have far to drive. I did arrive at the Holiday Inn early and had to wait until the room was ready; fortunately I had a book, so no problem. I also talked with my sister who was driving in from Michigan. Those of you who know Michigan will appreciate this: On Saturday, she had obligations to be in Traverse City, Michigan. So on Saturday she and my 11-year-old niece went from just south of Owosso to Traverse City and back...then woke up Sunday and drove to Akron for the show! She says it's the craziest thing she's done in a long time, but by the end of the night both my sister and niece agreed that the long hours on the road were definitely worth it. There were tornado warnings. There was horrible rain late in the afternoon. The local channels were reporting hail, damaging winds -- the works. By the the time my sister and niece arrived at the hotel, the weather had calmed and cooled. We still went to Target to grab rain gear and sweatshirts for them, then headed to Blossom. Blossom was 5 miles from the hotel. It was a pretty easy drive in - some bumper to bumper traffic, but moved along nicely. Getting out was another story. We parked in a grassy lot and started walking...and walking...and walking. I had an extra ticket to sell, and you'd think that there would be a demand for an 11th row ticket. Nope. People wanted lawn seats. After I picked the tickets up at the box office, we did sell the ticket to a guy who we never saw again. No one ever did come down to that 11th row seat. I was delighted with my seat. I was quite worried about the numbering of the seats -- whether we would be towards the CENTER of the left section or the FAR LEFT. I'd heard that Benmont's piano could potentially block the view...and -- as Nurk reported-- there were low black curtains that would definitely have blocked the view. We were in much luck and had seats 1-2-3 towards the CENTER of the left section. Directly in front of Benmont and a very clear view of Mike's guitars and grinning - plus the rest of the stage. I even saw Dana on the far right of the stage enjoying the show. Winwood's set was blistering. If you're not a fan of Winwood, but love amazing music, be sure to be there to see him. I'm not a fan, but have been blown away at both shows. And the crowd really showed their appreciation, more so than at the Grand Rapids show. Overall the crowd --at least for me-- seemed tame. It was a good first rock concert for the 11year old niece who didn't say much, but knew all of the words, and had a big grin on her face most of the evening. I was a little disappointed in the set list. I was hoping for --you know-- a surprise or two, but that didn't happen. Even with that.... from the 11th row...man. I don't know where to begin! We were also right in front of speakers. For my non-musician ears, the sound was good. Loud. Clear. Rockin' Mike and Tom were both in purple/lavender - awwww. A guy near me held up a "Petty For President" sign. Tom said something like, "I'm not that dumb," or "I don't think so." The frequent chants of -- petty, petty, petty - echoed through the pavilion and onto the lawn. [*]TP seemed extra playful to me. Maybe because it's the first time I've been this close to the stage, but he seemed to have that infamous sly grin on his face most of the night. [*]I enjoyed Mike's grins, too. He would wave to people in the front rows. And we got a good chuckle watching him snap pictures of those people at the end of the show. All too soon the show was over and we joined the rest of the crowd trudging our way back to the grassy parking lots. Except --with the rain during Winwood's set-- they were now very muddy lots. Cars got stuck. It took for blessed EVER to get out of there. Seriously. Why did it take well over an hour for the place to empty out? At least some folks set off fireworks for all to watch while we waited and waited and waited. Once we hit pavement, though, it was an easy return to the hotel, a good night's sleep, and a 6 hour drive home today. Man, am I tired and happy!
