Deliberation and chance collaborate. My answer was deliberation as I spend much time weighing the various consequences and 'listening to my heart.' Chance, however, often steps in to magically adjust the decisions.

^That sounds like a plan Look for me to check in about 4pm (provided the train is on time and I can catch a cab) - pale lady w/short dark hair, big red suitcase, and big red bag. Probably looking slightly bewildered from the travel and time change. LOL!

1. How many books do you read per month? How many are for work/school? It varies, and all are for pleasure. 2. What is your favorite genre of book (fiction, self-help, etc...)? It varies - I'm a voracious non-discriminating reader - I'll read almost anything, though I tend towards fiction. 3. Do you subscribe to any magazines? Which? Are there any you'd like to subscribe to but haven't? No, that's what the library and internet are for. I might subscribe to some genealogy magazines but again, they're in the library. 4. Where do you get your reading materials? Online? Bookstore? Library? All of the above, and from friends. 5. List 5 books you recommend people read: This list changes all the time, too, as it really depends on the person. And I think I'd point them to my LibraryThing or GoodReads accounts to see what I've read and any reviews of the books I've posted. 6. Take this quiz - What's Your Learning Style? You Are a Bodily Learner. You learn best by doing, and you have a talent for complicated, physical tasks. You excel at athletics, drama, and fixing things. You would be an excellent Olympic athlete - or a Broadway star! (I'm no athlete, that's for sure, but do learn things best when doing them.)

1. Do you like to go to casinos and gamble a bit? No. 2. Have you ever rode a horse? Yes. 3. Do you drink alcohol? Occasionally Baileys or wine. 4. What is your favorite Mexican food? Depends what I'm in the mood for - Nacho Fajitas sounds good tonight, but no one in town makes 'em the way I like 'em. 5. Friday fill-in: On Saturday, I plan to ____. Drink too much caffeinated tea. Run errands. Do stuff online, around the house. The usual Saturday stuff unless otherwise distracted.

I am on Twitter and just beginning to grasp the potential. I attended a chat for writers last Sunday that was informative and lively; we used the 140 characters Twitter allows to discuss author platform - and it worked. I've also heard of Twitter being used at conferences to participate in a conversation while a panel or speakers are going on (you know you're thinking stuff; Twitter allows sharing of that stuff.) Can't say I would be doing that during a speech, though. Follow me @julieawallace

I bought myself a new Nikon Coolpix camera recently, and am contemplating a netbook before my trip... and those TPATH tickets last year were definitely a splurge!

I was at work all day, got home, walked to Roly Poly (1 block) to get dinner. In an hour I have the first committee meeting for a "Historical Fashion Show" - where models will wear historically accurate clothing.

It's official. My cable TV is gone. :045: I'd dilly dallied for about a month by leaving the cable plugged into the back of the TV and still got E! Entertainment TV and the Hallmark Channel, plus a number of other channels blurry w/good sound quality. Still I got sucked into watching hours of nothing. I mean, I like M*A*S*H, but three hours of re-runs every night???? Geesh, that's a confession. (Ahem, it's on Hallmark channel, 5p-8p Eastern.) So today - I removed that cable between the TV and the wall, and I'm free. What should I do with my newly discovered 'free' time? #1 - clean, finally #2 - write #3 - more music, more radio #4 - investigate hulu.com for TV shows online #5 - who knows!

The best - Small get togethers. 4. Do you feel snacks are an important part of a party? What do you like to munch on? Yes, food can be an important part of the party, particularly if you're gathering with friends. I love sharing food & talk with people. 5. Have you ever thrown a wild party while your parents were out of town? What happened? Ha ha - no way. I loved having the house to myself.

The news about David Carradine is drowning out the news I woke to this morning: blues legend Koko Taylor passed away yesterday. From CNN.com -- Koko Taylor, a West Tennessee sharecropper's daughter who went to Chicago, Illinois, with "35 cents and a box of Ritz Crackers" at 24 and wound up an award-winning blues legend, died Wednesday at her Chicago home at 80. She died of complications from a May 19 surgery for gastrointestinal bleeding, her Web site reported. Just days before the surgery, Taylor won her 29th Blues Music Award, picking up the trophy for Traditional Female Blues Artist Of the Year. She performed her signature song, "Wang Dang Doodle," at the ceremony. Known for her powerful vocals, Taylor was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1997, won the Blues Foundation Lifetime Achievement Ward in 1999 and was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship in 2004. She also won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album in 1985 for her album "Queen of the Blues." Don't Miss Taylor was born Cora Walton and picked up the nickname "Koko" because of her love of chocolate as a child. She also displayed a love of singing from an early age. She and her future husband, the late Robert "Pops" Taylor, traveled to Chicago in 1952, where Pops Taylor worked for a packing company while Koko Taylor cleaned houses. By night, the two roamed Chicago's blues clubs, where Koko Taylor sat in with top bands and was soon a popular guest artist. But it took 10 years for Koko Taylor to record on her own, after Willie Dixon got her signed to Chess Records and produced several singles, including "Wang Dang Doodle." Taylor landed a permanent home with Alligator Records when Chess was sold in 1975. Her final performance was the May 7 blues award show, but earlier in the year she performed at the Kennedy Center Honors program honoring actor Morgan Freeman. Throughout her lengthy career, she shared the stage with nearly every blues performer imaginable, from Junior Wells and B.B. King to Taj Mahal and Muddy Waters. She was a strong influence to later performers, including Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin. Survivors include Taylor's husband, Hays Harris, daughter Joyce Threatt, son-in-law Lee Threatt, grandchildren Lee Jr. and Wendy, and three great-grandchildren.
