1. Have you ever worn hand-me-downs? Who did you get them from?
Yes, from neighbors.
2. Have you ever given hand-me-downs? Who did you give them to?
Yes, my sister. And I donate clothes (and other items) to local thrift stores.
3. How do you feel about hand-me-downs in general? Do you like the idea of recycling things or does it bother you to have something used?
I like the idea. I'm always finding "good stuff" at thrift stores.
4. Do you ever visit yard sales? (maybe you call them garage sales, tag sales, junk sales, etc...)
Not so much yard sales. I do frequent thrift stores and consignment shops.
5. If given $25,000 to buy furniture and decorate your home, would you buy new pieces or antiques? Why?
Both because life is eclectic.
6. Take this quiz - How Thankful Are You?
I'm 86% thankful. You're an incredibly thankful person, and everyone around you feels very appreciated. You inspire people to be more optimistic, forgiving, and grateful.

Baghdad Cafe, hands down.

You Don't Have To Say You Love Me by Dusty Springfield. I'm choreographing a scene in a fashion show to the song, so I've listened to it multiple times over the last 24 hours.

Umm, has anyone else gotten the (relatively) new email from TomPetty.com? Mine came just after 8pm Eastern and goes into more detail about each of the sets. Same info is up at tompetty.com. I'm bummed that the "collector's deluxe box set" is available ONLY AT BEST BUY beginning November 22 - it's the 5 cds plus DVDs, blu-ray disc etc. Tickets are available for the "superhighway tour" on Tuesday, Sept 29 - and there will be a FREE DOWNLOAD on that site that day.

You mean the whole place all at once? Never as I tend to clean a bit here, then over there, etc. I would definitely hire a cleaning service. In fact, when I left my last place, I did - so much easier!

Ran to the post office, hit the local dollar store, then headed to the library for some research & writing on a script for the Historical Fashion Show I'm involved with. More work on that tonight...

1. What web browser do you use?
Firefox 99.9% of the time, IE when I have to, Chrome for a little while and possibly again when it's a bit better.
2. What email client do you use?
Gmail, Hotmail, then Outlook and Yahoo at work
3. What type of Internet connection do you have at home?
Cable. Almost couldn't live without it anymore.
4. What kinda of computer do you have?
Toshiba Laptop and/or a new netbook. Looking at getting a laptop replacement new in the next year, maybe after windows 7 is released.
5. When did you first get 'online'? mid-90s.

((Marcia)) Hang in there - life will get better.
I reconnected briefly with an old boyfriend via email; he's happily married. Facebook is an odd place: it seems to be bringing together in one place the various 'incarnations' I've had in this lifetime. I've reconnected with people I haven't communicated with in years. It's both nice and a little creepy.

I like the look of the new site. The "News" has a scrollbar on the far right side - it's red. And that's the only way I can scroll.

Noooooo! It can't be over yet! We didn't have a proper summer here in Michigan. And a few counties have FREEZE warnings for tonight.
At least temps will be back up in the 70s the next week or so. -
Last movie was Julie & Julia - loved it!
Last book was Un Lun Dun by China Mieville

Add me to the Miss Manners list.

Ideal: 0-15 minutes
Actual: 5 minutes! Yeah! It's just over a mile to work these days.

I live a short distance from the Soaring Eagle Casino and was there earlier this year for dinner with my parents.

Looks like it has flecks of white, so it could be a form of Obsidian. FWIW, obsidian is said to have the following properties:
-honesty, sincerity & truth
-brings out your warrior spirit and reclaims forgotten abilities within yourself
-help prevent negative energies from attacking & keep thoughts from turning negative
-reflect your flaws & provide insight into changing the flaws
-helpful to those in 12 Step programs as a powerful tool of change, aiding your desire to alter behavior
and that's one large chunk of obsidian (err, obsidian talisman, more likely) he's got there...

^ LOL Nurk!! I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was a specific gemstone...never thought it could be a flash drive!

1. What are your favorite and least favorite wedding traditions?
Favorite: The love/connection that can be felt - and the cake.
Least Favorite: Big bashes/receptions and those weddings where it seems like half the town stands up with the bride/groom.
2. Wedding Gifts: Do you buy from the registry, find something else, or give money? Depends on the couple, and also if it's a group gift (buying with coworkers for example) or going it alone.
3. Are you more likely to slow dance or participate in the chicken dance? Either is fine with me. I'm more likely to wait for a song I like or know well.
4. If you could marry someone famous, who would it be?
That desire seems to change on a regular basis! This morning I'm feeling like a sleepy cougar so I'll say Paolo Nutini, that young and adorable Scottish singer/songwriter.
5. If money (and vacation time) were no object, what would your dream wedding be like?
Small and intimate at a beautiful location.
6. Take the quiz - What's Your Ideal Marriage Proposal?
Mutual, after a great conversation about your future and feelings.

Just watched 8 of the 9 sections available; as is the case often, part 1 is already down. Live footage includes Brown Sugar, Midnight Rambler, and a spot with Stevie Wonder. You'll also see Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, and Mick Jagger bored to tears in a car somewhere down south. The rock 'n' roll antics are tiresome, then sad; I guess I've seen too many of those "Behind The Music" documentaries and start to wonder who in these clips is alive, dead, or suffered as a result of their youthful foolishness/enthusiasm/both. And I really didn't need to see Keith and his girlfriend passed out being ignored by others in the room. The film is blurry, overexposed, and sound isn't synched to movement; you can shoot better on your home camera these days. The Stones should give it an appropriate rating, send it to DVD, and they'll make money on it... We already got over being shocked by the antics a long time ago.
Here is the link to the Flavorwire Blog spot.
Here is a link to the video - in 9 parts. Part 1 has already disappeared. Parts 2-9 definitely has all those things someone under 21 shouldn't see so use your discretion.

Yes, I could...though I'm pretty sure that most of my friends aren't the surprise party type. They'd rather have a great dinner at a great restaurant or something similar.

WTF
in Depot Street
Yep, if you google "Michael Vick Dog Tshirt" or something similar there are a few t-shirts/sweaters, as well as a "Michael Vick Dog Chew Toy" (that's a Michael Vick figure for dogs to chew on. And a couple of people have blogged about whether it's ethical for people to make money from the situation. I'm voting no, and think it's just not right.

Checked local papers for any coverage...and found none.
"Malibu Surfside News." It's published once a week, and the most recent edition was published on the 24th. No mention of the upcoming event. There is an obit for Henry Gibson - and plenty of local news... www.malibusurfsidenews.com
The Malibu Times www.malibutimes.com The LA Times also had nothing that I could find.
