  1. :045: Hmm, I see a whole weekend of music and fun materializing!!:034:
  2. Yes, in fact we had a scare on Tuesday night and had everything sitting by the front door, ready to go. Pictures, mostly, along with water, a radio, important papers, some clothes and toiletries and of course the kitties.
  3. Oh Ref - we wondered what Anna found so intriguing under the fridge yesterday and it turned out to be another baby mouse!!! Argh. I have the brave neighbor boy on speed-dial now.
  4. Toni?! GASP! Surely you jest? When we share so many other common loves in music (and athletes)!?
  5. National Curry Week. LMAO! (^ Hey Doxie, do they make peanut butter curry? )
  6. Caviar, shushi, or any other form of raw fish! Never have and never will!!!
  7. Very cool! I'd love to see a list of the 18 songs included on the Greatest Hits CD!
  8. I just spoke to a friend who had been evacuated to Qualcomm for 2 days. She's just returned to her home in Scripps Ranch. She told me that at Qualcomm, there were vet techs there, giving eye drops to animals and making sure all animals had plenty offood and water. Also, they put up temporary awnings to make shade. There are church organizations with people helping to watch kids and walk dogs. There are arts and crafts and little splashy pools set up for kids and seniors. Also, someone was leading a yoga class! (Wonder if that was Poltzie, Kay!? LOL) This morning there were men from a service organization that came in and set up big griddles and cooked pancakes for all who wanted them. You're right about Wal-Mart, Ref. Also Subway has had sandwiches delivered around the clock. And I know that the Red Cross and Salvation Army have been there with supplies from the beginning, too.
  9. I'm so proud of my city right now. There is so much destruction and just awful, awful news here but everywhere I look I see people helping each other. The entire city has closed down - schools, banks, mail, trash collection, etc. There are evacuation sites set up all over the western county. At first, they had to keep moving them because the fires kept coming further and further west! I feel so fortunate that my little neighborhood has not had to evacuate. There have literally been evacuations completely surrounding us. We had one scare and were ready to go, but then it got called off. Our things are still by the door, and cars packed, just in case. So many people have not been so lucky. And I worry for all of the animals and livestock. There are lots and lots of horses in east county. I've seen people on the news who can't find their horses. But this town has really pulled together during this crisis. I saw it happen during the '03 fires, too.
  10. ^ That's AWESOME, Nancy! I absolutely LOVE Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and always have. I saw them a few times in Tahoe back in the late 70s. Frankie could still reach those high notes!
  11. So tragic. I so relieved to read that Pepperdine is secure right now. My good friend Debby's son is a student there. She's out of town and I'm sure she's worried sick. :085:
  12. ^ Oh god, I hate this. Year after year. I've been inside that "faux Castle" last year at a reception for a Malibu. It was really something. I only hope they can get a handle on this horrible thing before there are anymore structures and lives lost.
  13. ^ Yes, he's handsome. It sounds like another case of the child never having to take any responsibity for his own life. "Self-employed"? Give me a break! Driving daddy's BMW at age 28. Hope he can turn it around!
  14. M & Ms Pay Days Milky Way bars 3 Holloween candies you don't like?
  15. ^ No kidding, Christine? How cool! They didn't demolish those did they?! Well, I visit "Old Town" on a regular basis. Best margaritas and chips & salsa around. LOL Seriously, I have not been to the Mission since the kids were in grade school. It's not very far from where I live. I really should go back one day soon. It's very beautiful.
  16. TOO cool, Ames! I love when the Knobs do that surf medley. I can hardly wait to see them in December!!
  17. CRAMP - Christine Rushed At Mr. Petty! SCOTT
  18. I hope you have the best birthday of all, Tom Petty! You so deserve it for all the happiness you have brought to so many people over the years.
  19. Have to say I agree with your school board. I know, I'm an old fogey. LOL
  20. 1. When people pronounce "nuclear" incorrectly (like Dubya does) 2. When people carry on "outside" conversations when you're talking to them on the phone. I already don't like to talk on the phone, and this just makes me want to hang up 3. People who talk during a movie in the theater (my sister does this and it drives me nuts) 3 things you love about October?
