Father of slain Marine wins case against funeral protesters
surfnburn replied to Refugee's topic in Depot Street
OMG....She's nuts and talking like someone in a cult. I wonder if she has been brainwashed... The kids in the video tell it all.... They're in their formative years...jeez....That's sad to see. They're not function well in real world when they're older... -
I'll try to find the article. It was a tragedy. My impression was that he was overwhelmed with a lot on his mind. If you're only focus is your kids, then I would find it hard to forget them. His attention and focus was split with work and other things... And the baby fell asleep. I'm trying to remember the article...I think something threw him off... He had a routine, and it changed that day... He was on auto-pilot... I can't imagine forgetting a child. But I can see how life these days could do it to a person.

It happened to a man who was supposed to leave his kid at daycare and went to work instead; he forgot his baby was in the back seat. I can see how it would be an accident in the same way an exhausted parent would get in a car accident because they didn't get enough sleep from taking care of kids and had work and other stresses distracting him/her. In this case I think it's about the stresses of modern life. Everyone's working -- that means everyone has two jobs if you have young kids and a job. It makes it harder to keep it all together. The guy who forgot about daycare lived in the San Francisco bay area where housing and expenses are priced for two incomes. If there's an grandmother or someone at home to help with the kids, it's great. But a lot of people don't have that. It's really interesting that this isn't talked about much. We've had a dramatic cultural change in the last 30 years. I think there's a big parenting needs gap between childcare and work. Maybe this is only an issue in places where cost of living is high? It's neglectful if it's deliberate and the parent knows it will cause harm and does it anyway.

Father of slain Marine wins case against funeral protesters

OMG...I didn't know people were protesting at funerals... They're nuts... It's amazing that they're completely oblivious to the fact that people are hurt by the loss of a loved one. These people have no conscience. That is scary. They're not furthering their beliefs because people aren't going to be receptive to their message in that context. It's just an attack based on their selfish fanaticism... I'm with you Sharon; I'm glad reasonable minds prevailed and they lost the suit. -
Everyone is dressed up at the clinic... I've seen witches, a dead woman in a wedding dress (it's beautiful; she got the dress for $20.00 at the Goodwill; it must have cost hundreds new), a star wars trooper, a Rastafarian nurse ..lol and a bee. An angel just walked by. One group of ladies always dress in a theme. Last year they were alien girls. This year they're dressed as country hicks... They're talking that way, too...lol. I feel like I'm working at Hee Haw....LOL

Twenty shows or more? That could be awhile... I thought Tom said that he was only going to do limited tours. Does it include Mudcrutch? I don't have XM; it might be worth it for the radio stream...

Neil Young's Bridgeschool Benefit Concert - 2007
surfnburn replied to Echosoftom's topic in Anything That's Rock N Roll
Oh Sharon...What a great review. I would have cried if I could only hear Neil's opening set from the parking lot. I'm glad the rest of the set had some gems. I've always wanted to see Tom Waits. He's so interesting. Thanks for sharing your day. -
Comet Holmes is usually a dull little comet that is barely visible and it already passed by the sun and is heading back out to the outer realm of our solar system. Currently it is somewhere between Mars and Jupiter but something happened and it is one million times brighter than it usually is. Astronomers believe that something happened to the surface of the comet allowing it to out gas material as it is melted by the sun. Astronomers do not know how long the comet will remain visible so go outside and see it while you can. At dusk the comet is in the North East in the Northern Hemisphere near the Perseus. It is currently the brightest “Star” in the sky because the tail is extremely short. I hope the sky is clear so you can see this rare event. Oh....They missed my favorite line.... "I could smoke two joints and write better lyrics than this." LMAO... That was too funny. (I think that's how the Grateful Dead wrote most of their lyrics...LOL) I wonder where they got footage. And why was it taped? lol Thanks Amylou!

Both...I bought them with I was really little. They had plastic masks. I made mine when I was old enough to do a good job with it.

Off with their heads...lol
