Good point, I agree.

https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/legal-and-management/8505405/tom-petty-widow-daughters-estate-legal-battle She states that Adria's "erratic behavior" held up the release of a posthumous Greatest Hits album ----I guess I was naive to think there wouldn't be another GH or another attempted one, if true. Beyond that, I guess this is how I see it: The band released a couple albums I think are good from top to bottom, great mix of songs and balance of emotion. Other albums with a core of good songs and some clunkers. And a couple albums with more clunkers than good music. A lot of fun concerts to listen to from different periods of time and thanks to the generosity of hardcore fans and the internet, available for free and in good quality. And I've got my own nostalgia for the times I've seen them live. Everything beyond that is just icing on the cake. Sure, potential for more fulfilling meals but until All The Rest is released or other albums of unheard music come out I shouldn't have any expectations. Just like I should probably know better than when all reporting is stating how good things are when it comes to releases like AAT, everyone is putting their best face forward. From the outside looking in it's a sad sight, with heavy emotions on all sides and at the same time, it's tempting to yell out across the internet...you're all quite wealthy and surely things can be worked out without attorneys! But feelings are feelings no matter where one resides on the financial spectrum. And it really isn't my business. ---I really don't understand why All The Rest hasn't appeared since it seemed like Tom took an active hand in its creation/recreation. Oh well. Again, for all you WF lovers and there are many, I hope it does come out true to Tom's vision sooner than later. Ha ha. I guess I should stop waiting on the orchestral arrangement of It Ain't Nothin' To Me. cheers

It all seems a bit strange since everything seemed copacetic with AAT. Suddenly there's a lawsuit? I really thought TPATH's musical legacy would proceed smoothly. Who knows, none of us know these people or what's really going on.

https://pagesix.com/2019/04/02/tom-pettys-widow-in-legal-battle-with-his-daughters/ According to Dana, the daughters are getting in the way of her including unreleased solo material on a 25th-anniversary reissue of his album “Wildflowers,” which she says could be worth millions in royalties. She also included an email she says Adria sent to two surviving Heartbreakers, in which she allegedly wrote, “What I don’t have the temperament for is having my entire life raped. Being disparaged. My dad being disgraced. And being surrounded by selfish, unreliable people and drug addicts.” ---It's a shame. Hopefully they can work things out. Maybe the above quote if accurate is why there's a delay in All The Rest and why recent interviews in a different thread made the whole thing seemed confused, as if just now someone began going through the old tracks.

I really like the one from Soundstage but the Anthology version is even better! I agree it rocks! Benmont taking his solo to another level. cheers

Words on the band transition after Let Me Up
MaryJanes2ndLastDance posted a topic in Great Wide Open
I've been reading a lot from the petty archives lately (thanks again to that site!) and found this which may shed some light as to why things were so bad following Let Me Up and into Full Moon Fever. Or more detail anyway. https://www.thepettyarchives.com/archives/newspapers/1980s/1987-04-17-gainesvillesun Both Lynch and Tench say this is the first album that all the band members have been completely satisfied with before it's released. They think it's an honest record, true to Petty and Campbell's vision of an all-band effort, circa 1987. "I like that stuff," Tench comments. "I think it's funny. There isn't anybody who's any good who's funny any more. Bruce is great; he's not funny. U2's a good band; they aren't funny. The hell with 'em." (The LP's cover, a favorite among the band members, is a composite face -- screaming -- made up of pieces of each of their own mugs. . They all think that it's a great picture, too.) So the question of 'Are we gonna tour?' is really 'Are we pro-band this year?' They've decided that they are. ---It sounds as if the band is truly happy, no outside producers, they even liked that awful cover image...and the album is considered a flop, teh tour doesn't do so good relative to others. https://www.thepettyarchives.com/archives/magazines/1990s/1991-08-08-rollingstone By the time of Petty and the Heartbreakers' last effort together, 1987's underrated Let Me Up (I've Had Enough), sales were slipping, and there were more and more empty seats when the group hit the arenas. "We played a lot of shows where they'd put a curtain up to hide the fact that there was only a two-third house," says Campbell. "But we played like we had a full house and then worried about it when we got back to the hotel." Then I found this live clip. Go to 3:41. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ ----That's an odd performance, and I don't think I've ever seen that (and I've seen a lot of TPATH clips). What do you make of it? Could it be another reason for the later solo moments? ---I don't blame the band for feeling the way they did. Here was an album, pretty much undiluted Heartbreakers, even down to some songs (at least one) emerging from a jam. Suddenly Tom is working on a new record with only Mike. And then it goes on to be one of his greatest if not greatest to some, album he ever made. It's been discussed (I think) about how possibly the solo spotlights on the ITGWO tour were Tom being generous to his bandmates, letting them know not only were they valuable but treasured. So they have a band album they enjoyed, even liked a hideous album cover and were stuck having to use a curtain (see above) to disguise the smaller audience. With Full Moon Fever a lot of things changed and perhaps signaled the beginning of the end of the original group or for Stan's involvement. I don't know if much else was written or expressed by the band about Let Me Up after its initial go round, and what they make of it after so many years. It certainly feels like a forgotten record to a degree, Southern Accents, despite whatever one thinks of the songs, has some impact if only for its failed concept album attempt and Tom chastising the Confederate flag. What's even stranger about Let Me Up is it had, to a degree, a hit single in Jammin Me with a video. Anyway, I don't blame the band for being afraid Tom was going to break it all up with his first solo album and mammoth success and I do feel badly, to a degree for them, in that an album they were truly excited about and one without Jimmy Iovine/Stan conflict, that was just them, did so badly in relation to their other records of the time and being in the shadow of what was to come. MOJO-Song Of The Day-The Trip To Pirate's Cove

But here are some free audience recordings from the Mojo tour. Other tours on the site as well: https://livepetty.com/2010-2/ cheers -
1) All The Rest for all the fans who've patiently waited. 2) Unreleased material released as single albums with song selection either chronologically or by what makes the best flow of a record. Spaced out to be affordable and give time for people to appreciate or not. Simple albums, no more box sets. 3) The last show as a cd-release with a third disc of all the deep cuts and one off songs they played on this tour including the jam etc. from Red Rocks 4) Maybe the occasional gift to fans with a free live concert download from their past every so often, spaced out. These would not conflict with any Fillmore box set or other planned live releases; just random good quality shows from their past, with all the different configurations of the band. 5) Any unreleased Mudcrutch as a single or double album. I figure there isn't that much or at the same level as TPATH 6) A live Mudcrutch album or two 7) In-depth interview book or free online interviews with the other members of the band including Stan. cheers

That’s plenty of time for them to realize it is ultimately unenforceable. Or Google will shut off all services to the EU and they’ll realize it in two days.

Nah, didn't you see this: It's fine to post links to topics that cover these discussions before but it can be fun to engage with them again, see how one's taste has or hasn't changed. cheers

I think this is one of the best songs from Mojo, I really enjoy the dream like and soothing quality of the music.
