For me Disc 5 highlights are: On the Street/Depot Street/I Can't Fight It (what a fun pop-rock song)/keepin me alive/turnin' point and Moon Pie. I can take or leave the country version of Damage You've Done.
Disc 6 highlights are: mind made up/ways to be wicked/can't get her out/waiiin' for tonight/travelin/wooden heart/gift to man/get me high/come on down to my house and you come through.
16 songs, pretty darn good. Never cared for Gator on the Lawn when I learned it was a true story---poor doggy. Tom's lyrical misstep there. I do like Heartbreakers Beach Party and they did play it a couple times in '99 of which there is a good recording out there. Fun song.

No thanks Lenny). But sure as there's feathers on a chicken, I do actually love some of the humorous songs such "The Damage You've Done - Country Version
Interesting choice to include them. For me, the treasure is in discs 5 & 6, so many good songs gathered together. And it's funny how subjective music is, You Come Through is one of my favorite songs they ever did!

That looks pretty good!

Fleetwood Mac (tonight) are really sensational musicians. I take back any snark I may ever have thought. Everything was golden and the energy just kept building, one fantastic thing creating another...Mike Campbell exceeded expectations. And it sounded sensational!...Like I say, magic, just golden. No photos, sorry, not sorry, my phone was firmly off & we just focused on the concert. Respect!

So I remember everything about how Mike played it & created that fzmous sound. But i guess I missed out on remembering most of the singing.....Anyway, you asked, so hope that answers your question. :-)
I'm glad you had such a good time! Seems like you savored every moment of the live experience which is the best way to be, enjoying what was happening and being in the moment. Your description of Free Fallin' and reaction to it is I figure why they play the tune at all these shows, in fact, you sound like the reason they play at all, their ideal audience, someone who can appreciate both guitar-melting moments and tender thoughtful playing. Glad you got to see Mike Campbell in action and hope somehow the Dirty Knobs make it your way and you can see him bend strings up close in a small club. Either way, glad you got to go and your enthusiasm from the show really came through in your post, thanks for sharing.

Nice photo

Well, I hope you have a good time and enjoy Mike's guitar stylings while everyone else accompanies him.

Sorry that you went through whatever you experienced but I'm glad your life has improved since then. I hope it did anyway, I don't want to be presumptuous.
As for your review, I think it was well written and your frisbee comment made me chuckle.
I do like the album more than you but for a long time, it also represented a change and in some ways, a dulling of the TPATH experience for me album wise. I did however, enjoy a concert from this tour and do think it could be the best recorded in terms of sound quality record they did; the instruments perfectly blended together.
But like you, this album was indeed a huge shift for TPATH, especially after the double-high of FMF and ITGWO.
Glad you shared your take and perhaps someone else will chime in to you blowing the dust off this older topic.

Ha ha, I had to pause here, man, I still remember hearing that blandness across the radio and everyone responding to it! And then it hogging the 2nd spot in concerts for yeeeeears! Ha ha ha. I've softened on it since then, probably just accepted it and I do find Steven not playing any cymbals very very interesting but I can really relate to your reaction, ha ha ha!

What did you make of the Fleetwod Mac show? Was it worth it to get to see Mike play? Did you like the concert overall? Bittersweet hearing Free Fallin 'cause of Tom and not having gotten a chance to see the Heartbreakers or more of a celebration of his life and a powerful moment for you?

It's not often I come across this opinion. Another link you say? Why sure...

If you've not seen the movie before I suggest skipping this clip and giving it a go. A very unique scene:

I think it could be the only show where every new season tops the previous one. Hopefully you'll share what you make of the whole thing when it's over. And yes, the Tom Petty song was quite the surprise at that moment.

I went over there and checked. Found this:
Thank you for your interest in The Highway Companions Club!
We are not accepting new members at this time. Current members can still log in
and access the club and all of the content inside. And the log in page which I couldn't get past:
https://www.tompetty.com/user/login?destination=forum/1946%3Fsort%3Ddesc%26order%3DTopic
I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing was inaccessible though with the popularity of facebook/twitter and the current legal turmoils in the Petty camps.
Maybe another member will let you know for sure though.

The idea that "everyone interprets things in their own way and that's fine!" is nonsense if their opinion is based in ignorance. Three quarters of the song is about a failures woe's and the last verse ties back to his woe's by blaming it on the war and him being southern.
I'm not asking you to think someone drawing a connection between race and Rebels is valid, all I'm saying is can't you see why they could when nearly an entire verse is dedicated to "burning cornfields" etc.
You said it yourself, the self-proclaimed "rebel" is blaming it on the war...which is about race! Doesn't mean you have to view the song that way and obviously you don't but I just don't understand why you can't see how others could interpret it that way.
But hey, this ain't a purity test! If you can't, you can't, I won't push on this anymore.
1 hour ago, martin03345 said:Also, I didn't want to say it earlier because it sounds like I'm patting myself on the back but seeing as you brought up a amateur historians knowledge on the subject I should point out that I, as well am one too.
I can appreciate that. It certainly sounded like it as well so I'm glad you said so, I don't think it's patting yourself on the back at all and I respect where you're coming from on the topic.
