To bring this loosely back to Wildflowers, from this point on songs like You Wreck Me, Honey Bee, Zero From Outer Space become the exception. I realize that Echo wasn't geared to be a rocking album but maybe there are some more fast tempo numbers with a good riff waiting to be unearthed. Wildflowers is off a mood that continues on, I'd say all the way till Hypnotic Eye, though there were throwbacks like I Should Have Known It. I wonder if You Wreck Me became a concert regular because the crowd loved it or Tom did or both. It even showed up at residencies, I don't know if there's a show after the WF tour where they didn't play it. I like the song and depending on my mood can take it or leave because I've listened to it so many times on live recordings. That said, it's pretty amazing how Tom came up with something memorable using very basic chords and simple lyrics. I guess one could say that of his whole career, it's pretty incredible. cheers

See if they can give you a medical discount/bulk rate since you'll be there for so long. I once had to get a room fast to help someone out for a medical reason and they kindly discounted my stay, thank God! It was a big and much appreciated help. cheers

Funny you should say that, see, a while ago I did compose a letter to send to TPATH but never worked up the courage to do so. I tried to be as reasonable as possible. I realize it's moot now but here it is: Deer Toms, I am been a long time fan of your band the Hartmakers, they rock and put the rock in rock-n-roll. Anytime i worked out a lot I'd say to the weight bench, You wrecked me baby! While laeing on top of it. And hugging it. I'd wipe it down after licking it too. Everyone thought I was cool but too cool they stopped talking to me; it's good to be king. Pleas play the following songs from all your albums and every different one too. (LIST OF SONGS: Refugee, Running Down Dreams, Benmont's Booger, You And I Will Meet Again, Zombie zoo (twice, once at the beginning of show and once at end but you can decide where I dont' want to order you around ha ha but if you want to sing it and point into the audience and say "this one's 4 u boss," that is okay. I'm the boss you're pointing too. Your boss. But it's cool if you just think of me as a friend. More songs: Only the good ones. This makes the show best for audience and the people. Also maybe try not to upstroke so much on guitar but downstroke more. The cupcakes I included are blueberry, pop tart flavor, and mystery flavor. They are 4 Fred. You know, Fred the siyche...spyce...psychedle ..the dragon who what lives in your tree but yuo can eat some too. I recommend all three. I've a vague recollection of that song, I think, or one of his big radio singles and can kinda hear a bit of it before the false ending but for me it's just an interesting background vocal. You Come Through actually feels like a melding of country and funk, I think it's catchy! But you know, this place is made up of differing opinions. cheers

That made me laugh. I always thought this was one of those interesting experiments the band did from time to time, where they don't sound quite like they normally do. But I really don't know anything about the recording of this song or whatnot so I can't say as to Kravitz's impact, other than I really like the finished track a lot. Maybe you'd have liked the track had they performed it live minus what you call the Krativz spray-painting ha ha ha. That is, the basic structure of the song you'd enjoy, if it could've been actually separated from Kravitz's studio influence. When I've a chance I'll give it another listen, but regardless, yeah I still think the song is very good regardless of whatever Kravitz did or because of it, who knows? Maybe someone else who knows more about this track will chime in. Anyway, thanks for explaining why you don't care for it. cheers

Maybe this will clear a few things up. Whatever I think of Ac/dc as a band, I'm sorry that the poor guy suffered like that, and can respect him soldiering on with a tour. I could've picked any band really to make my point, which was meant to be a light-hearted one, which is that most band nerds, hardcore fans, whatever you want to call 'em get hung up over the set list. If it came across like I was picking on them or making light of what he went through, that wasn't my intent. Here's some set list complaints about the Foo Fighters from a quick search below. He proceeded to lay into the fans behind the petition (and imagine he's saying this in his patented, sandpaper-voiced rocker yowl), telling the publication that the fans in question "may cheer at the concerts, they may go home happy, but they only came to hear 'Thunderstruck.' They don't eat, sleep and shit AC/DC like we do. Fuck them!"Now the curious thing about this is Johnson is paraphrasing the open letter AC/DC fans sent to the band back in November, ripping the "eat, sleep and shit" line verbatim from what was posted by the concerned fans on the band's official fan site.And Johnson continued his anti-fan tirade, saying, "There are a few cocky fans. A lot of people now with the computers, they sit on their fat asses in their house somewhere going, 'Oh, they played that song last night, they should change it.' Well, bollocks to you. I don't know though. I would hope the band took from the letter how much these fans love their music and not just Dirty Deeds cause it's on the radio a thousand times a week but the ones people like me have never heard of. It's possible they took it that way but at the same time, could've figured it's not any of their business or don't spend the money if you don't like the show etc. And there could be on some level, concern that this opens the door for the fans to start making even more detailed demands, the letter wasn't doing that but they could just feel like acknowledging it was opening that door. But, from my super-limited perspective on the band, I could see them as just ignoring it, may be even being embarrassed on the fans behalf for not having something else going on in their lives. But I don't know. As for TPATH, I don't know, if Mike or Benmont couldn't get this to change, what would some fans achieve? And I'm not knocking efforts, just that I doubt it would make any impact, especially when weighed against all the fans who pay money for their tickets and rock out regardless of what's played or how many times it's been played before. Ah heck with it. Instead of waiting for someone to find ac/dc's response I went and looked it up myself since I posted the darn thing in the first place.

Oh no, hearing Little Maggie once was enough but I gave it multiple listens but it's just awful. And I like mandolin playing too but that couldn't save it. I agree with your last point thought, it's definitely more than Tom. Some of my favorite moments from the Echo tour were when Mike led the band through surf instrumentals. And Ron's bass solo spotlight in Two Men Talking from Lucca an Manheim in '12.c cheers

Taking a guess, I doubt there was much variation as they went on from tour to tour. I think it's more interesting generally speaking, when a band mixes it up night to night, giving each city they play in a unique experience. I figure this would keep it fresh for the musicians as well and offer an opportunity for deep cuts to be played. But I also like when a band expands on their songs in concert, otherwise I can just stay home and hear the songs at my leisure. This isn't a factory job where if someone does something out of a routine they risk injury and damage to machines as well as messing up other's work; it's a rock-n-roll show! Open a show with Free Fallin' one night and encore with it the next. Let loose! I agree. Didn't nearly every main set end with I Should Have Known It into Refugee and Running? For sure the last two for the most part. I've a feeling ac/dc tours were pretty similar as well, though I could be wrong. The point being, hardcore fans of a band will fill the internet with set list complaints, regardless of night to night or tour to tour, ha haha. cheers

What don't you like about it? I think it's TPATH at their peak funkiness; from the weird note at the start, the snap-thud of the drums, and sweet guitar leads. And it has a false ending! I think it's one of their best songs. cheers

Agreed, never understood the appeal of this song though it was a welcome change at Red Rocks on their last tour. I don't even recall what it sounds like but when I did listen to it, never made an impact. Agreed. I like this one. Breeze I'll listen to if I'm in the mood for Benmont's solos but the song doesn't do anything for me. Same with I'd Like To Love. I like this one. The sparseness of it appeals to me and it's short. I like the version from Red Rocks from '02; that's a very good show overall. No appeal. No interest in Mcguinn. I get why they'd play it with their connections but don't care for it. " - who cares?" Hahaha ha. First, Lucille, no interest in it. I guess if Benmont or Mike takes an extended solo I'll listen for that but c'mon. They had so many underplayed TPATH songs and they fill the set with stuff like this? I don't get it. Well, Shelter and others have made arguments and explanations which make sense so I guess I do get it. I just don't like it...! And Little Maggie? Terrible. I remember purchasing the Fillmore show, High Grass Dogs on vhs, and my excitement slowly dissipating, especially during this long mellow segment. I think Scott sang this right? Awful. I didn't like it musically, didn't like his voice, didn't like any of it! Terrible. One of the worst covers they did and contributed to the overall feeling of a let down with that video release. The Hamburg Docks show is much better from that tour. Little Maggie. Oh no, some kind of weird blue grass song. Awful. cheers

I like 13 Days quite a bit, something about the slow groove of it and the weary inflection in Tom's voice work well together. It's got a bit of a doomed march feel to it which I enjoy. Travelin' Light is pretty good, You Are My Sunshine/Can't Get no sunshine is good, I used to like Louie Louie and Shout but they wore off, there's probably a few others I like but overall I'd have preferred hearing a TPATH original to a cover. Oh, their jamming with Hooker at the Fillmore was good. cheers
