Today I'm learning to burn CDs from WAV files for the JJ burn chain. Tonight I'm going to a CD release party for a local musician with my brother. No plans yet for Sunday.

He must have gotten on some "list" since Mom died. They call him to come see him and I don't think he understands they just want to sell him annuities or whatever. He doesn't hear well. I told him not to let anyone else come over. He says they won't take no for an answer. I think Dad just wants someone to talk to.:085:

1. Ladies and Gentlemen, do you wear perfume or cologne? I do if I dress up, otherwise I don't bother 2. What brand or kind of soap do you use most? Dial, or whatever. I use a cleanser for my face, not soap. 3. Do you use anything to scent your home (air freshner,candles, potpourri, scented oils, etc.)? Spray in the bathroom, candles around the house that I rarely remember to light 4. What's your favorite scent on a member of the gender to which you're attracted? Soap & Water 5. Have you ever tried aromatherapy? If so, describe your experience; if not, do you think it might work? I think it was used when I tried Reiki once. I've done smudging with sage, but I don't know if that counts.

I know there are some of us here who are prejudiced against people who wear Crocs or Snuggies. But we should try not to be biased. If prejudice results in discrimination, it is a big problem. People should not be judged based on race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, etc. It is a natural human weakness, though. For example, I am prejudiced against Scientologists, because I think it's a weird religion. I should be able to dislike the religion while not judging its practitioners, but it can be hard to do.

I saw Stevie on the last hour of the Today Show today. I can't remember exactly what she was referring to, something about what she's been doing the last few years. She mentioned her solo work, F-mac, and "Performing with Tom Petty". That's when my ears perked up, because I wasn't really paying attention. Anyway, I always love a Tom Petty reference.

We have an obligation and it's in the interest of human beings. We all share this planet, and the health of one species affects other species.

It seems like the shows I would love are in the LA area.

Not prestigious, but it would be interesting, if the "celebrity" was someone I admire.

I really like Bill Maher. I haven't seen his film "Religilous" yet, but I plan to.

Venerable L.A. guitar shop McCabe's has seen more than its share of highlights over the years, with Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello and Cat Power among the artists who've graced the stage in the back of the guitar shop. Add another to that list as 150 lucky fans on Saturday night got, what the evening's performer J.J. Cale called, "a real big treat" in the form of Tom Petty and Mike Campbell of the Heartbreakers. Cale, the veteran Oklahoma singer/songwriter, was playing the second of his two sold-out shows in the tiny room when halfway through the set, he brought out Petty and Campbell for a couple of songs. >"They were across the street drinking, I went over to drink with them, said, 'I'm playing across the street,' and here they are," Cale told the crowd. What no one knew though was that a couple of songs would turn into half the set. After engaging in a sing-along version of 'Crazy Mama' and then 'After Midnight,' featuring a sterling Campbell solo, Cale told another story as way of introduction. "We were sitting backstage talking and I said, 'Tom, you want to sing one?'" Cale said. Petty picked 'I'd Like to Love You, Baby,' which Cale said created one problem. "I'd never played it live and I told him, 'I don't remember it.' Tom said, 'I'll show you.' So if you can believe it, Tom Petty was backstage showing me one of my songs," Cale said, laughing. Petty sat next to Cale, who played with ease as he wove stories throughout his delivery of blues and rock with sublime grace. It made it easy to understand why even a big star like Petty seemed suitably humbled to be up there alongside Cale.
